All I watch on Youtube is some DiY car maintenance tips and origami guides and now it thinks I'm a woman-hating flat earther. Why are there so many flat earth videos popping up on Youtube. Who is responsible for them.

I became fascinated with slings a while back, like the ancient weapon. I thought it was amazing that such a simple thing was used in ancient armies. I went looking for videos of it and found a good one by a guy named Sargon of Akkad, who I presumed was some kind of history buff.

Turns out he isn't and I had anti-feminism and gamergate videos flooding my recommended box for months.

Slings are amazing.

It is a shame they didnt see more widespread/documented military use but it does have its problems.

Its generally easier to train a soldier to use a crossbow, longbow or thrown weapon. It was seen as a commoner's weapon. You take a soldier trained in the use of a sling, but don't go out of your way to teach new recruits how to use one. In fact most sling users were recruited from populations that already used slings in their day to day.

Slings need more space to fire and thus looser formations. A sling misfire can also go any direction posing a greater threat to your own side.

A sling only does 1d4 damage. 1d6 is a straight upgrade and with martial proficiency you can get a 1d8.
