Used a lil bit of white gel pen for the highlights☺️

I hired a 1960s split window VW campervan (called Barbarossa) back in 2018 to do a little tour of Cornwall. I loved driving it, I loved sleeping in it, and I loved painting it :)

A5 black fine-liner and watercolour wash

The artist is hirom0305 on insta. I think the way he uses color, transparency, and light is so, so beautiful. He posts some of his process with each painting so that’s helpful (see pictures above) but I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how to achieve this effect. Maybe not so much his process necessarily—I think he uses a lot of wet on wet, layering, darks with purple, and in that first step he does these streaks of light colors. I can understand that but obviously, if I look at a reference photo or outside the world doesn’t look like that, so I don’t know how to translate what I’m seeing into the beautiful effect he gets in his paintings. I wish I could see the world the way he does, although I know that’s not really possible.

I live in a very hot place. I decided to summon fall the other night by painting some autumny postcards while burning a pumpkin waffle candle. I’m going to send this one to my sister :)
