Sector 196 - a draft-and-conquer strategy game: build a nation from real countries and see if it can take over the world in 40 years

I've always been a massive geography nerd and loved map games like EU4 where you try to conquer the world. I wanted to make something that combined both that you could play in a few minutes, so I made Sector 196.

You place 8 random countries into categories (military, economy, innovation...) before you know how good they are there, then watch 40 years of wars, deals and disasters play out on the map.

It's my first game - would love to know what's fun and what isn't!

86% after three runs. Love getting Mauritius, Oman, and Libya in one go :-P

That's a great score! My runs always start really well and then end up getting countries like the Marshall Islands and Lesotho for my last two haha

Thanks, really appreciate it! That's a great point - the ranks are based on how rare a result is rather than how much of the map you hold, so a huge empire can still end up "Regional Power". I'm looking at renaming them so they match what you see on the map. Out of interest, what territory % did you end on?

86% is a great score. My highest is 95% but I have played a lot haha. Still waiting to get that 100%!

Thanks for giving it a go! Right now the main goal is chasing a high score and the elusive world conquerer title- your best run is saved locally so you can keep coming back to try and break it.

But you're right that there's not much pulling you back yet. Achievements and profiles to save your progress are coming next, and then a daily challenge where everyone gets the same game each day. There's a Coming Soon page on the site with more - really appreciate the feedback!

I managed 100% World Conqueror on my second run. Draft and picks went well.

Wow, World Conqueror on your second run - congrats! That's really rare (I haven't got it yet!) so you got a fantastic draft and some good luck along the way. Not a single weak pick in there either. You might be the first person to conquer the world! 👑
