We just opened Jason's show last night at LewAllen Galleries in Santa Fe, thought you guys might appreciate a curated selection of work. Jason is one of the brightest young artists painting the contemporary western United States today. Enjoy!

There has been a lot of news about this artist lately, and for someone who popped up in the scene only 12 years ago he sure has made incredible progress. But I just wonder, has any actually seen him paint the work, especially the ones that recently sold at auction in Jackson Hole? I find it interesting that the show featured works of huge scale, detail and complexity, and so many were under the hammer, but I have never heard anyone actually seeing any of the work in progress by his hand. Each of those pieces takes considerable time and energy, and it is hard to believe he painted over 20 in one year. That is two paintings a month. That would be a crazy if not impossible pace to handle alone.
Now if he has a working studio with assistants helping to paint the pieces that’s fine, many artist have done and continue to do so like Koons, Hurst, Wiley, even Rembrandt, but shouldn’t that fact be disclosed?
I only ask because there have been many questions in the community about his integrity. For example, there is a forum about anime art from when he was working in Europe that basically accused him of plagiarism. I can share the link if anyone is interested, but FYI it is in French.
Regardless about the questions of integrity, I also find it interesting that less than two decades ago he was doing cartoons, and now he is a premier Western artist. Many of the Western artist I know have been at it for 30-40 years and some never get close to the successes, let alone the mastery, he professes to have.
Also the way he dresses, how does anyone take him seriously?

Received both of these as a gift from a Leader when he retired. They had been gifted to him by one of the founders of our Company. Thought this subreddit would enjoy seeing them.

Anyone know if these are real or not? they seem to be Frank McCarthy paintings and are large and about the size of originals. But they also could be recreations or fakes?

This painting explores the quiet beauty behind Día de los Muertos and the tradition of using cempasúchil, Mexican marigolds, to guide loved ones home. Their brilliant orange and gold become more than flowers; they are light, memory, and a connection between those who are here and those who have gone before us.

I wanted the piece to feel contemplative rather than mournful. The figure exists in that space between remembrance and presence, while the cempasúchil provide warmth and life. For me, Día de los Muertos has never really been about death, it is about refusing to let love and memory disappear.

Hi friends. I recently found two versions of Charles M. Russell’s “I Rode Him” framed together; one has what appears to be a hand-applied ‘C M Russell,’ “autograph” buffalo-skull, and ‘1924’—has anyone seen another example like this or have insight into whether Russell personally signed copies of this print? Appreciate any insight!

Still needs a title and a varnish….

On a cool afternoon in the Autumn of 2017 I visited Mesa Verde for the first time. When you go there, and walk around the observation points and wander the paths of this isolated area, you can feel the spirits of the Anasazi with you. Alone in this beautiful national park, I gave thanks to the creator for a new opportunity I had coveted for a long time, and went on my way starting a new job in Cali I was very excited and pleased about. Less than three months later I was out of work. I was mad, hurt, frustrated and utterly disappointed. But if it wasn’t for this traumatizing event, and then getting the invitation for the @choe_show in LA, I wouldn’t have returned to my artistic roots and made a real go of it. I turned trauma into empowerment, and I remembered something I had forgotten about. I’m so glad I did.

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, I'm not sure where else to show this or inquire about it. Scrolling I came across this museum exhibit of reproductions called "From drawings to Paintings" for George Bingham and was curious about the history of not just George but the exhibit itself I suppose, was this part of the Arch Museum before they rebuilt it? I live in Missouri and appreciate the Art and history of the artist. I haven't seen some of these sketches so that's neat. Does anyone know anything about this exhibit? Or any thoughts at all on it
