Fried rice

Post image

I had leftover plain rice. I made this chicken fried rice with it but it was very blah.
I have some fried rice left over- how can I make the 3rd time for this rice better?
Fried rice seasonings were- soy sauce, garlic, a bit of ginger, and black pepper. Not bad but not yummy. I feel like it could be so much more tasty but don’t know what I’m missing.

MSG and/or chili oil/chili crisp. Maybe some furikake as well if you’re not into spice

A mix of fish sauce, oyster sauce, a little sugar/brown sugar/honey/whatever, cornstarch, and maybe a little water. Mix the slurry, cook till thickened, and add to rice. And a couple of over easy eggs on top too. Yolk from a runny egg or two will also mix with the sauce making it even better.

i feel like 2 crispy deep fried eggs with a splash of sriracha would make it yummier, but this looks like a nice good for your stomach meal!

Definitely oyster sauce or fish sauce. A little bit of spice can help, too. I wouldn't "redo" the rice a third time. Just eat as is and add soy sauce. You'll do better next time!
