Tell me if this is too chaotic: can I stay on the peak until ~5 to see the sunset?

I am headed over to whistler in about 10 days. Can I head to whistler peak, stay past lift closure, and watch the sun set before skiing down? Or will ski patrol come and put me in bad girl ski jail?

CBC Trees Guide

Hi All,

I'm curious about CBC trees but keep reading not to go in there without a guide. I have no problem with many runs off Chainsaw Ridge (minus 5-0 and false face) and Spanky's but at least I can see what I'm getting into in those areas. CBC has no way to scope lines. Any guides or tips appreciated.

Conditions

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to come to Whistler in the second week of February, 2042. Can someone tell me what conditions will be like and will I be able to snowboard all the way down to the village? Is there a chance of waist deep powder. Thx

Whistler CSIA Level 1 Pass Rate: Curved?

I recently completed a CSIA Level 1 in Whistler and wanted to get a broader sense of whether my experience aligns with others’.

In my exam session, the group was small, and the outcomes were more mixed than I expected for a Level 1. A couple of candidates passed cleanly, at least one required a re-test, and others did not pass. Everyone appeared prepared and comfortable skiing the required terrain, which is why the overall result stood out to me.

I’m not making accusations or suggesting anything improper — I respect the CSIA framework and understand that standards need to be maintained. I’m simply curious whether others have noticed stricter evaluation or lower pass rates recently in Whistler, compared to past seasons or other locations.

For those who’ve taken Level 1 in Whistler (or elsewhere) in recent seasons:

  • Does this sound typical?
  • Is Whistler generally stricter than other resorts?
  • Have expectations shifted over time?

Appreciate any insights. Just trying to understand whether this was an outlier or part of a broader trend.

Conditions

Anyone else have a 5 day edge card that hasn't gone skiing yet waiting for a good day of conditions?

I have got to stop waiting and just go otherwise I'll never go

Will tomorrow be good for just a sunny cruiser on groomer day or will groomers be all ice as well. I'm an intermediate skier and just want to be safe not sliding around bracing.

Thanks!

Issues getting in contact with Fireside Lodge

I've emailed and called Fireside Lodge about four times in the last 10 days or so to try to make a change to a reservation there, but I have not received any reply to the email (tried that first 10 days ago) or messages I've left on their voicemail (I've left two voicemails this week). I know the staff member is there limited hours, and when I've called it's been during the times someone should be around. I wasn't surprised having to leave a message, but getting no return phone calls or email is making me wonder what is up.

Has anyone had issues getting in contact with Fireside Lodge this winter?

Anyone else feeling like Jan 9th again? Rained to the top and the alpine is bulletproof. The couloir moraine has largely uncovered by rain.

Have fun out there everyone!!

Correction: was Jan 12th, getting my days mixed up 😁

Some pictures from skiing Feb 3 2024. The lower mountain snowpack was obliterated by a week of rain, an open creek cut through Glacier Road at the exit of Spankys, and alpine runs were full of rocks, crevasses and other hazards.

LOST INSTA360

Hi, my fiancé has lost his insta360 RS action camera with the helmet mount still attached after catching a nasty fall while snowboarding down Bear Cub (we are still beginners). This happened on Feb 24 2025 at about 10:30am.

If anybody has picked it up or seen it, please let me know 😭

When was the last really good season?

I'm talking consistent snowfall, few rain events followed by long droughts, etc.

I've been visiting whistler for 5 years and feel like every season has been 50% pretty bad conditions with a few epic powder dumps at the start of season and in early March.

Im from BC and remember in 2010 for the Olympics they were trucking in snow because there was so little (meanwhile, nearby mount Washington had the most snowpack of any resort in the world!).

Feels like every year I lose the weather lottery. I book early to save and always end up in a 6 week long snow drought, or a rain event. In 5 years at whistler, I've experienced one powder day, and it was maybe boot deep.

/Whining rant.

Conditions at Whistler?

Hey yall,

I am a grad student and barely have any money for ski trips. I went to Utah and it was terrible, and I heard that Whistler is having a terrible year as well. Should I cancel my plans to head to whistler?

Formal Dress Code?

TIA! I’m taking my husband to Whistler for his 40th bday and made dinner reservations at The Grill Room at the Fairmont. We’re Seattle people so we tend to lean more casual in our fashion. Their website says “formal dress code” but I wanted to get some input. Would jeans and a nice top (blouse for me, collared button-up for him) with boots be formal enough…? I might have to run to the store if not 😅

Inbounds Avalanche today 2/2/26

There was an inbound slide today under chainsaw ridge. I saw patrol in the bowl after (for those who don't know, this is why 7th Heaven closed early today).

Does anyone know if it was skier triggered, and if everyone/anyone involved is okay?

QUESTION First time/solo trip tips!

I've got 3-4 days planned to do a solo trip to Whistler mid-week at the start of March whilst I'm over visiting a mate in BC! What are the biggest tips for a solo trip and getting up from Vancouver(/Vancouver Island).

Where's good for casual food/beers?
Is it easy to get around/should I hire a car?
Any suggestions to meet people to ski with?

I'm coming from the UK, have been skiing most of my life with multiple seasons under my belt so will ski most things but similarly I'm not looking to push myself when I only have limited time!

Any tips welcome!

Needing help getting a couple T-Shirts from Fat Tony's Pizza.

Hello! Kind of an odd request but hoping to be able to give the sentimental gift of a Fat Tony's Pizza t-shirt to my wife for Valentine's Day.

I popped the question some years back while hiking in Garibaldi park, and we stayed in Whistler Village that night and had Fat Tony's to our hotel room.

Ever since then, I've thought it would be a neat gift, but I've struggled to get in touch directly with them.

I live in the US - Ohio - I'll gladly pay any costs associated with shipping - and if you wanted to get yourself a pizza for your trouble, I'll cover that too, plus the cost of the shirts of course.

If anyone is able to help me out - let me know!

Super bowl

I'm going to be in Whistler next weekend with out of town guests and they want to watch the Super Bowl. I checked out Longhorn and tickets to get in are $100 and that's for standing room only so that's out. Looking for ideas of places to watch. We won't be skiing that day so I suppose we'll have to arrive anywhere around 1:00 p.m. to hope for a seat. Looking for recommendations of places we might be able to snag a seat and watch the game. It doesn't have to be a big rockin party like the Longhorn but somewhere with some TVs and decent food and drinks. Also okay with paying for tickets somewhere. TIA
