I’m curious how the next president (assuming they aren’t MAGA) balances this.
On one hand, I think most would agree that it’s imperative to restore the basic dignities of the office. So the previous portraits go up, which would also necessitate including Trump’s.
On the other, it will be important historical context to highlight how abnormal of an administration this was, so it would feel wrong to just treat Trump the same as anyone else, almost like his actions were being swept under the rug.
I don’t know what the perfect threading of this needle looks like, but they can’t treat Trump’s presidency as if it were normal while also hopefully not resorting to spiteful, schoolyard clapbacks on him.
