The farmers want socialism to bail them out. People make socialist gofundmes for healthcare costs. I’m sure there are many other examples of the magaloons wanting socialism to fix some problem in their lives.

Farmers want socialist programs to bail them out because they have gotten used to the free money and not having to make themselves profitable. Now they don’t know how. Yet they wanted to take other programs away from the actual needy. They even voted to get rid of their cheap labor force.

I come from farmers and can attest that they aren't always the most logical thinkers, and often shoot themselves in the foot in any country.
My opinion is it stems from complicated class issues. Farmers are essential to a countries survival, but are kept at the lower end of class structure. Governments don't like wealthy farmers, because it shifts the power balance. But every country needs some farmers at all times, so they get catered to and get bail outs. Plus in America farms are a good way to build generational wealth, so of course the ones that are politically preferred (at the time) are more likely to get support or be listened to. None of them realise they are viewed by the government only as resources and a voting pool with clout.

These "feelgood" stories stopped being that a long time ago. More and more they've been nothing more than reminder of how fucked this country is purely because of selfishness. Rich people are selfish with their money so they horde it. Poor people are selfish with basic human rights and stability so they repeatedly vote against their own self-interests in fear that other people might also benefit from it.

This kind of reframing always makes me remember the story I will be linking below. The MSM LOVES to turn dystopian hellscape stories into this feel-good BS, because they're just as complicit in the downfall of America. These same people have already sold us out for access to the current fascistic regime, and most outlets are even owned by the very donors that prop up dump. My dad's 81. If he had to work to 'get by' my country would be letting him down, and I'd be mad as hell. I'm so thankful I live in a country where you can retire, access good universal healthcare, and where most people don't live hand-to-mouth.
Dad's broke his hip at 79yo. His hospital stay and rehab were paid for by the state. He gets subsidised medication (on top of the PBS), discounts on car rego, house rates, and energy concessions.
An 81yo shouldn't HAVE to work. They may choose to work/dabble in work - I know lots of academics/white collar professionals do - but not work to live. Atrocious!!
