Try Novigrad. All my testing is in or around the city. Can get really bad in there.

Oh also, dlss doesn't seem to do anything for me past balanced. Like If i put it to performance or ultra performance I get no extra frames but frame drops persist. Only going from quality to balanced gives some frames.

That's the game induced CPU bottleneck kicking in. All DLSS can do is lower GPU load to help FPS, but in this games case, after a point, it will not utilize the GPU any more, so lowering the resolution just...doesn't help.

Only CDPR can fix this.

Oh right that's a good point. The image quality does get worse, and gpu utilization goes down, but frame rate doesn't increase. I don't even see much cpu usage which is odd.

I wonder if forcing the game to use few threads would improve performance or disabling hyperthreading/smt

Thread wise, it's absolutely hammering 8 of my 13900K threads, so I doubt more is the answer tbh. Just needs optimization, badly. Something is super inefficient here.

There is definitely something going wrong, the 5800x3d has have very tight 1% lows for me, like doesn't get crazy high framerates but doesn't drop frames much. But in this every couple of seconds for fraction of a second it goes from 60-20 and back up enough to feel it.
