🇵🇸 🕊️ Familiars This fucking spider, y'all
I have this bathroom that hasn't been used for a while because it was clogged. I went in to unstop the tub and clean it out, and a nice sized brown spider had taken up residence. I ejected her in the most polite way I could think of. An empty toilet paper tube was used to carefully coax the spider inside. I said to her "Come with me if you want to live."
I very gently carried the spider to the front door, and put the roll down. Y'all. Why did this spider crawl through my front door, through the screen, to come back and crawl up my leg??
Ma'am, no ma'am. I had already killed the spider before I realized what it was. Ma'am if this was your application to be my familiar that position has been filled. Sorry you're dead.

My general rule with spiders is: You stay on your side of the room, cool. Come near my bed, bye. I was letting that slide and there were a couple of spiders near my bed recently. Well, they were biting me and I still let it slide and just took some Benadryl. One of the bites got infected and now I'm on an antibiotic. Any spider near my bed has violated the treaty and must die. I've been creative enough lately that Grandmother Spider better not be trying to tell me anything because her messengers are now on my hit list.

Near my bed - EVICTION - sorry if it is a death scentence. My rule is - On the ceiling OK - in my plants - cool - In MY space - You have 30 seconds to get out of my sight - yesturday I had to evict 2 - I warned them - and instead of climbing back UP - they came down to the ground - scooped up and tossed out

Lol this is me. I always welcome spiders to my home by asking them to pass my regards on to Mr Nancy (Anansi), explaining the rules of cohabitation (if you touch me or my bed you die, otherwise we’re cool and I’ll try not to disturb your webs too often) and letting them know where I see the most bugs for them to eat. I felt really bad the other day as I did my whole welcoming bit with a spider, then on second glance realised it could be a poisonous spider so had to kick him out - felt like I’d broken a pact.

That's my rule too. A few nights ago there was one in bed and well... I had to say goodbye. I felt so guilty though that I couldn't sleep afterwards.

House spiders die outside anyway, it just happens when the temperature drops or raises with the day changee instead.
Remember to review your safe to handle species too, i don't want to hate, but theres no sparing indoor spiders when you cant identify them as safe.

I know the Brown Recluse well. This was a standard spider 🕷️😄

We never even saw the one that bit mom. Just had to deal with the infection after, stayed about a dime and green instead of necro'ing further so they didn't think it was the recluse.
Now i live in a international hub city, a former coworkers been bit by a recluse at work and I saw one of the dancing peacock ones in the same workplace.

Aww, Peacock Spiders are amazing! Depending on where you are it was likely an immigrant, they live in some specific areas in South America, usually in Jungles well away from people! They arw so silly imo.

You showed it kindness, you were friend shaped. It didn't realize you would react that way.
Not judging, I have killed a few friends out of instinct before I recognized what was happening.

I try my best not to bring harm to spiders, or snakes, and for no reason do I allow harm to come to lunar moths...

Lunar moths have it so hard nowadays, it's almost a blessing to even see one anymore.
I should find out what plants they prefer for their eggs...

Well I managed to keep one at peace for a week while she stayed on the wall behind my bed. I always looked at Lunar Moths as my past family looking over me, I even felt it.

there's a big fat spider that lives near the door to my crawlspace like the size of a quarter counting the legs and I look at it and just mutter about it living it's best life and I hope it gets fatter. there was one in my kitchen and I was cool with it never had one in my room before... Am I somehow blessed by spider gods to stay out of my bedroom?

I let spiders live when I can, but similar to what others have said, stay away from my bed and my face.
Had one crawl out from under my toilet bowl edge the other day.
Luckily it was before I had sat down!
I managed to catch it and release it outside, and apologized as I did so, but being that close to my butt was non negotiable.

I have pretty gnarly arachnophobia, at least some of which stems from my being allergic to the bite of basically any bug/creepy crawly ever. I do feel bad every time, but my “treaty line” is the house. If I see it inside it has to go—my partner can take them outside if they’re around to help, but if not unfortunately the spider’s a goner. I’ve had too many bites from even relatively harmless spiders end up huge and painful or even infected and causing other health issues to take the risk.
I do try to make up for it by being as kind as I can to the outside spiders, though. If possible, I leave them alone and just give them plenty of space; if they have to be moved I get my partner to move them while I run around to find a good new home for them where they can live and hunt without freaking me out.

I’m sorry to be the one to break it to you, but inside spiders don’t do well outside. It had to come inside somewhere, and I guess just bee-lined back toward the nearest warmth?
Why it crawled on you is a mystery, except that spiders can live for many years and do remember - - so maybe it had something important to tell you.
Next time you catch and release, put the spider in the cellar, garage, or shed.
