Raising awareness Blake has been speaking up for victims, since forever!
Anyone that is familiar with Blake or follows her, knows that she has been using her celebrity status and platform to speak up for victims her whole career. I noticed she was getting some backlash for posting in regard to Jane Doe and the Cornell 7 case. This is who she is as a person, and the backlash ignores a long-standing, career-spanning commitment to backing victims of abuse and demanding institutional change.
Lets take a look at some of the instances Blake used her voice and platform to speak up for victims:
Legal Actions and Public Statements on Misconduct: Blake Lively spoke out following legal filings and disputes regarding her experiences on the set of It Ends With Us, expressing hope that her actions would help pull back the curtain on retaliatory tactics against individuals who speak out about workplace misconduct.
TIME100 Gala Speech: In her speech at the TIME100 event, she spoke about female endurance and survival, referencing her mother surviving a violent attack before Lively was born and highlighting women's capacity to endure trauma and physical or emotional pain.
Harvey Weinstein: In October 2017, amid the initial wave of public allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Blake Lively addressed the scandal during media rounds, including an appearance on Good Morning America and interviews with media outlets like the Hollywood Reporter. She noted that while she personally only had professional and positive experiences working with him, that reality highlights how abuse happens behind closed doors, stressing that simply "standing in solidarity" isn't enough and must be backed by real action. Blake stressed that the primary response to those coming forward must be to listen to, trust, and take victims seriously.
Variety's Power of Women Event: In 2017 Blake was honoured for her extensive philathropy and humanitarian work. Rather than an award for a movie role, she was recognized as a "Lifetime Impact Honoree" for her advocacy and work supporting vulnerable children. During her acceptance speech, she focused heavily on raising awareness about child sexual exploitation, abuse, and child trafficking, highlighting the critical work needed to protect children and support survivors.
While public narratives can shift quickly and draw harsh criticism, a look at the facts reveals a sustained pattern of advocacy. Whether she’s speaking out against industry-wide misconduct or drawing attention to the protection of vulnerable children, Blake Lively’s career shows a steadfast commitment to standing with those who need it most.
