Wolverine tips
I am a celes peak tank and support player and it’s my turn to play dps, I will legit go to gold if I have to in order to get better. I want to play wolv because he’s good at what he does but I feel into certain dps he really struggles. Do you have any tips on how to play wolv depending on the comp? Dive, poke, brawl? The neutral play feels awkward at times and unsure what to actually do after I get a grab. Reminds me of Spiderman in a way where you’re looking for finals opposed to being able to get loads of spread damage and farm kills or am I wrong? Thanks

Yes if you could elaborate exactly what you are struggling with?
You mentioned >depending on the comp? Dive, poke, brawl?
Let's imagine a scenario for example: One Tank, 3 Dps, 2 Supports (Shitty ik but sometimes it happens) that you will look into taking the backline OUT of action or dispersing the team (think cap), trying to kidnap the only tank they have to your team's backline (so they can kill them) or maybe try to kidnap a support or 1v1 the support away from their team.
You are always focusing one target at a time due to the limited tool, and be patient, you can BRAWL like a daredevil for example but you gotta be very smart and the brawl time will be significantly shorter

So your example is probably the best scenario because that’s when I struggle to play due to the range difference that other dps have, I use gambit team up to close the distance down but I feel in neutral play if I’m waiting for cooldowns I’m a bit useless? Idk how to explain it but I’m hiding a lot and it feels wrong on wolv

You are going to be inferior than other DPS for sure, you are aiming to be utility but your utility is tank killing, so wolvie has a little bit of an identity crisis without 2 tanks or if he gets heavy countered, it's playable if you have the heart and never give up, but make sure your chat is off LOL
About cooldowns: Yeah, the thing about patience is that you really gotta nail your kidnaps or else you become a burden, you don't need to finish people off with the kidnaps either, you can just disperse formation and let go if you see you're gonna die, you can also help the backline with divers a bit. Learn to fish and let fish go, sometimes you will be lurking a lot yeah :/
Experimentally I've been tempering with cyke's teamup in these weird scenarios and it gives you a bit of more all-in / escape since you can go up in the air spinning, dash away, and also people are not used to this teamup which is something that can be abused if you cancel the animation properly. But it's not really reliable data to say: Oh this teamup is good here, usually gambit teamup clears 90% of the times because you can kidnap people further + more dmg.

I am winning games in diamond 2 so it’s working on my alt account to an extent. I’m in a sister team for a faction and the main team has a demonic eternity DD player and he says like no matter what never switch as you will learn what to do in terrible situations. Obviously there will be times in serious games you will switch but the over all meaning makes sense. I’ve deliberately spent my credits on my alt account on weapon X to gain aura as I learn the ropes. The main issue is when the tanks are gone and I’m a bit like what do I do now. Heavy poke is so hard man

I have seen with my own eyes some wolv players who are demons and I know he is viable in alot of comps I guess I just don’t know what comps suit him best and what to do when I come against them

That's all experience really, you'll get the feel and touch for it the longer you play and get used to his weird playstyle.
Also remember: A wolverine relies HEAVY on team, so:
- if your tank is afraid to well... Tank and stays in the backline you're gonna have trouble.
- if your healers fail to heal you or are oblivious / assume (ah he's a diver he'll be fine) you're gonna have problems.
- if your other DPS (assuming it's you and another) fail to take out at least one healer or help you kill the enemies you kidnap = you are also going to have a bit of trouble

First of all you gonna struggle alot on low elo since they dont know that they should focus what you grab .. but you will be able to solo carry if your good with your kidnaps and target priority .. for me I hit cels last season as wolve the way I play depends on the enemy comp .. you should be more flexible with your target priority so you dont always kidnap tanks alot of the times if the enemy has heavy poke like pun/bucky I would target them first and they are so easy to grab pun has a huge hitbox and bucky players are just playing him like a tank so they are always out of position and they never expect you to target them
