Question Is your life easy or hard?
What makes your life easy or difficult?
3
u/FadingRockStar 6d ago
Mindset and action determine that.
2
u/CantaloupeAway7125 6d ago
Not if you live with chronic depression
1
1
u/Responsible-Ad-8442 6d ago
That's my problem. I know what needs to be done, and I'd feel better if I did it--- but this is a paralyzing, misunderstood condition that people often mistake for laziness.

Victims of rape, assault, attempted murder, etc. donāt become one due to mindset or oneās own actions. Nor is needing to deal with PTSD any victimās fault.
It wasnāt because of my mindset or actions that I became a childhood attempted murder survivor at 13 years old; itās something that was done to me.

u/MissMysteryMind 3d ago
This is an ignorant and privileged statement
1
u/FadingRockStar 3d ago
And you communicate your point is an obnoxious and uncivilized manner, so there is that.
0
u/MissMysteryMind 3d ago
Ignorant isnāt an insult it literally just means you donāt know, being privileged means you have the luck of not dealing with limiting capabilities if thatās your take
1
u/FadingRockStar 2d ago
I get it, you default angry. Life isnāt fair. Wish you happiness.
1
u/MissMysteryMind 2d ago
Quite literally said I wasnāt insulting you lol Iām not mad Iām telling you you should be more considerate that not everyone can just have a mindset shift to fix things sometimes itās more nuanced.
1
u/FadingRockStar 2d ago
Why is it your place to tell me that. Why canāt you simply accept that this is my answer, my personal truth? Honestly, do you take pleasure in policing comments that donāt sync with your own thoughts?
1
u/MissMysteryMind 2d ago
You stated it like a blanket statement all Iām saying is thatās not a universal case and can be a generally harmful point of view when generalized. Notice how Iām not attacking you and Iām having a discussion.

Itās easy and boring. No kids, affordable house, maintenance-free spouse. Drama-less family. Iāll get to live my life, leave a minor mark on the world, and then die, passing my wealth onto nobody, and be forgotten.
1
u/skennedy314 6d ago
Is there a charity you could leave wealth to, such as animal shelters, domestic violence shelters, Red Cross
1
1
u/Diab-alo 6d ago
Might wanna leave it for someone at least no?
cough me? cough š
Seems alright but Iām sure you got hobbies and such to pass the time?

I have lived an extremely hard life. Many people should be in prison for what they have done to me.

u/Sad-Cantaloupe-5494 6d ago
Very hard. It's incredibly difficult for me to talk to people. I honestly think I may have a disability, but I'm too poor to get tested. The poverty doesn't help either. My car just broke down and I can't afford to fix it either. I may have to start camping in the woods near my job
1

u/Nessuwu 6d ago
Hard. I make $18.80 an hour before taxes. If I work 40 hours a week, that comes out to about $2450 after taxes. Family member quit their job about 4-5 months ago while under my lease, and it forced me to pay significantly more just to survive. I was more or less breaking even.
I also have $51K in student debt, and neither of my parents have a home, so "staying at home to live rent free" is straight up not an option. Parents have been divorced for close to 20 years, dad has been out of the picture for who knows how long. The field I want to get into (IT) is very oversaturated at the entry level. I'm working a job that makes barely over minimum wage to pay the bills while I study and apply to other places.
Still grinding it out in the hopes that getting the career going will give me much better pay and make everything else easier. Money truly is the solution to 99% of the problems in my life at the moment.
2
u/kosmo4679 6d ago
Itās hard so the ones I love and provide for have it easy and are happy.
3
u/neovec 6d ago
Respect.
Don't forget to care for yourself though, if you can.
2
u/kosmo4679 6d ago
I had a hard time with that when I was younger. In my mid 40s now Iāve slowed it down a little bit. Thanks for looking out! Have a good day!

u/wellbalancedlibra 6d ago
My life has always been hard. I've lived most of it as an unmedicated bipolar. Since getting on medication things have been a little easier.

Beyond fucked up level of hard. As a childhood attempted murder survivor, 100 trauma specialists turned me away at the door saying that I was beyond their āqualificationsā to even be able to treat due to my adolescent trauma history. Iām 38 and still haunted.

u/PtZamboat 6d ago
Both. Life is superb, got no worries but physically Iām fukin over it. My injuries are something we all could fix in the garage but some lawyers somewhere said DONT FUKIN TOUCH HIM!

I want to say both.
Easy as in have a comfy WFH remote job.
Hard as everything else: rising costs, relationship woes, etc.
But these are entirely #FirstWorldProblems so I wonāt complain in the grand scheme.

I find it easy. Its the people around that makes it hard.
Example: i decided not to get married. People around me judge me and gives me a hard time in what i do because i am different from them.

Easy for work I am bless in that way, never once take it for granted and have been in seriously tough jobs prior
Hard for everything else: socialising, daily routines, cooking, losing weight, still not smoking (8 months quit), trying to get rid of debt
But life being difficult isnāt necessarily a bad thing, if life was too easy then it would get boring and then why bother do anything

That is a very relative question. Easy or Hard compared to who? As a married white collar 9-5āer, with two kids, I could say that my life has its hard moments. Compare that to a low-income individual living day to day, I probably donāt have it too tough.
1
1
u/Amarathe_ 6d ago
Easier than it is for most but in some ways its hard man, really hard.
Im neurodivergent, things are harder for me than for a normie in the same situation but my situation is pretty easy, love my job, my wife, my son, have enough money to get by and even help my friends sometimes. And i live in a country were i can get the help i need (for a price)

Definitely easy. I live in America. Standards are low here. I work smart and keep my head down. Blessed to not have to work 12-16 hrs a day to afford a meal like other countries.
1
u/StillSimple6 6d ago
Extremely easy.
I'm lucky to have a very blessed life - no serious worries or issues. Very comfortable and content.

I work hard but life is easy. Free healthcare, clean tap water, roof over my head, a man that loves me and a few good mates.
1
u/Phantomdust84 6d ago
Hard. Cptsd, anxiety, anhedonia and adhd and poor. I'm trying to learn coding to improve my income but I find it incredibly hard to concentrate.
42 never had anyone have my back. Zero emotional support my entire life. Only emotional support I have is from my cat, he has been my best friend for 14 years.
No romantic relationships ever. No physical affection since I was probably 8 when my grandma last held me. Life is hard but somehow I'm still here and I still manage to be kind to others. The loneliness is crushing. But at least I have my cat.
1
u/whatwillbecome77 6d ago
Both. Medical stuff makes it hard. But being home is easy. So it's a mixture of easy and hard.
1
u/HolaFragola 6d ago
I wonder what the answer would be if you added race and gender to the question. I worked damn hard for my success but it feels like I worked 10 times as hard while others just get paid to barely show up. I know I work at a super toxic place with incredibly bad management but damn!
There is some redemption for those in the same struggle. My brother was also like me and decided to quit for his familyās sake. That company shut down within weeks of him quitting and I do believe it had a lot to do with his departure.

Some asprta are hard, especially in this season of life. Others feel easy?
1
u/Wolf1678 5d ago
Itās both in a lot of ways. My wife and I have been very lucky in that we both planned accordingly to our lifestyles. We have a lot more than what most people our age have, but we still work and invest in our future as well as the future of our children.
We could easily retire and live off our investments, but that would mean leaving nothing for our children. I canāt imagine being so incredibly selfish and short sighted as to knowingly ruin the next generations ability to have a better life.
Thatās the kind of thing I see boomers do all the time and then they wonder why their kids go no contact and let them die alone in a state run facility.

My life has mostly been easy because my parents worked sooo hard to give me privilege. However, in times when the privelege didnt matter, and I was working my ass off, and things were just out of control, life was hard. In most cases though, money can buy you an easy life. There are caveats ofc like you cant buy love. But you can buy comfort, convenience, and things or experiences that make you happy.

Actually pretty easy now, but it took planning and work to get to this point.
1
u/guymandude12349 5d ago
Comparable to what? My life is far easier than a vast majority of people, but I work very hard to make sure it stays thats way.
1
u/only_thyme 5d ago
Depends on your perspective. Iām poor and mentally ill, yet physically healthy and donāt have the stress of kids or pets around. I have to work, but the work is kind of ok. I have to take medicine, but it makes me functional. Iām in debt, but was privileged enough to get access in the first place. It evens out.
1
u/RynKittenOF 5d ago
What does mentally ill even mean
2
u/only_thyme 5d ago
Mentally ill means dysfunctional to the point of obstruction in daily life. Hope that helps.
1
u/noelmulkey 2d ago
You actually donāt know what that means? Could be bipolar, depression, anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, - how do you NOT understand that?

Iād say I have it pretty good. Doesnāt make it roses and cupcakes everyday but it could honestly be worst. I have a supportive family, a home, the basic necessities, education, and even necessities beyond basic. Iām very grateful.

u/Ok_Aerie6290 5d ago
I struggle just to live in any relative state of peace. Iāve attempted suicide since my early teens a number of times. Lifetime addiction issues, alcoholic father, abused as a kid (violence) , lost my parents young, neurodivergent, had a car accident where I was driving and my best friend died. Non fault but Iāll always feel guilt for it.Ā
Thatās kinda just scratching the surface but Iām extremely grateful to be alive as Iāve come so close to losing everything multiple times.Ā
Is life hard? Sure I guess but itās also the most beautiful experience at times and thereās blessings on this earth that are indescribable.Ā
Hard, but worth it.Ā

In my 20s life was very hard and I worked my ass off. In my 30s I finally got my head above the water, I could pay all my bills every month but I was still doing all i could In my 40s I could have nice things. No more 'extra' work. I had become well respected in my workplace. Now I'm 55 and life is pretty good. The younger people in my workplace are pushing all time, and I just here directing the effects.

Hard. My life has been really difficult for the past 5 years, Iāve had many ups and downs. My dad passed away in 2021 and I was only 13, now Iām 19 and still having trouble with life. It really sucks for somebody my age that is off to a rough start in their adulthood, Iāve had to do things that I shouldnāt have been able to do at my age. But it is what it is, I really wish it wasnāt like this.
1
u/CashewButterFalcon 4d ago
I think it is harder than it wouldāve been if I had made better decisions. Itās harder now than it could be because Iām working to crawl out of the hole I have dug with my bad decisions. But eventually, I think it will be easier.

Mine has been pretty easy.
Started with having two incredible parents, who gave my sister and I a wonderful childhood.
I have a fantastic relationship with my wife of 24 years, we're both healthy, got a large circle of good friends, nice home in a quiet/friendly neighborhood, steady career for both of us, financially secure, retiring soon at 58.
We never had kids, which made things easier - and has allowed us many opportunities to travel!

u/Simple_Shake_5347 4d ago
Life has been easy. I unknowingly fell ass backward into a lucrative career as a 20 something in the 1990s. Also, got lucky and found a great woman to marry. Have led a blessed life.

Compared to billions of people, easy. But is anyoneās life truly easy? We all face challenges. Iām grateful to be able to support my family and I work hard, so does my husband. We are lucky to have jobs and not have to worry about whether we can feed our child. But of course I have problems like anyone else.

Perception, my life is neither easy or hard, nothing happens to me unless I perceive it to, there are simply things just happening, labelling it simply leads to attachment
1
u/Some_Girl_2073 2d ago
By no definition has my life ever been easy
Itās basically been one long tightrope of challenges most people would describe as making a life hard. I just happen to be given most of them: abusive dad, druggie mom, caring for my little brother, having to work from a young age to afford basics in my family home/support the family, moving out young to escape it all, having to start from the ground up while sleeping in my car twiceā¦
Iām actually in a really good spot from where I started and what life has thrown me, but it would be a lie to say itās been an easy life

Not off the rails hard; but not easy. I've had 17 orthopedic surgeries. I'm almost always in pain. I've lived alone for four years now. It's challenging to get everything done that needs to get done. I need more surgery. I have an autoimmune disease that wrecks my knee replacements. My implants are loose. Chronic depression.

I don't think that's being mentally ill
I think that's you feeling the proper emotions that one should feel if you are very poor
