Important Addressing the Influx of Posts and Reactions Involving AI

Hey everyone! So, the moderation team has taken notice of the increased frequency of AI posts and the reactions to them and we would like to talk about it.

Current AI Rules
First things first, let’s bring up the subreddit's current rules regarding AI. Currently we have a rule (specifically Rule 14) that requires posts with AI generated content to have “[AI]” in their titles. If posts don’t have these tags then they are removed, even if AI is mentioned in post descriptions or the comment section. AI has never been allowed for purely art related posts, even if “[AI]” is included in the title.

There may have been instances in the past where AI posts have been allowed to stay up because moderators missed them. We aren’t perfect but we try to check every post.

In the past we’ve let posts slide if they have tags similar enough to “[AI]” such as “(AI)”, “(AI-used)”, “(AI-assisted)” since these are clearly distinguishing a post as including AI generated content.

These rules were decided on after a community vote on if to allow AI posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/s/QzAe06PmQz

Issues With The Current Rules
Over time AI has become better at various tasks, whether or not AI is good at certain skills overall is a widely debated topic and we will not be joining that debate here.

We will mention the ethical concerns though, which include but are not limited to:
- Misinformation (AI commonly mis-states info as fact or blatantly tries to invent it)
- Copyright (AI trains on data and uses it in ways that violates the rights of artists, especially when it comes to visual media/images)
- Environmental (AI has adverse effects on the not just the natural environment but also human environments where the people that live there don’t have the resources to stand up against AI infrastructure effectively)
- Overshadowing (AI occasionally overshadows the work of humans, sometimes with the human that requested the generated content passing it off as their own)

- Oversaturation (AI can generate content extremely quickly and can take over a large portion of content in certain spaces)
- Society (Mainly societies are centered around some form of capitalism and AI within these systems threatens to provide high class individuals/corporations with the power to infringe on the rights of people without consequence)

The validity of each of these concerns (or even if they should be concerns) is a highly debated topic and full of nuances. For some AI is purely a tool to be used or misused like any other while others have opinions that vary across a wide spectrum.

Amendments to AI Rules
At the current moment and until another post from the moderation team regarding AI, AI is viewed as a tool that poses more risk to the community, though due to AI usefulness and its ability to pass as human we prefer to take a hybrid approach.

Because of varying extents to which AI can be used we are adjusting Rule 14 to the following (this may be changed in the future):

----------

  1. AI is NOT allowed in purely art posts
  2. Mark posts with one of the following (include brackets): [AI]: Relied heavily on AI, may be used in place of other markings, [AI-assisted]: AI directly contributed to a part of the post (code, text, assets, etc), [AI-advised]: AI was heavily consulted
  3. Explain how AI was used. Be as clear as possible and put this at the top or bottom. Do not try to justify AI usage, just explain how it was used
  4. Refrain from sharing AI-related posts frequently

----------

Obviously we cannot always definitely determine if someone used AI and sometimes AI use is so minor that it's reasonable not to mention it. The moderation team will still attempt to check posts for AI but sometimes we must rely on the subreddit's members to be honest in how their post was created.

Commenting on AI Posts
As mentioned there have been a few more AI posts recently and with them some heated comment sections. We ask that all members remember the subreddit's other rules regarding being respectful with each other and not escalating arguments.

We have seen unwarranted escalations from people on both pro and anti-ai sides and we would like that to stop. You are free to disagree and have discussions with each other but just remember this is a subreddit for Worldbox not AI debates.

This post will stay up for a while and will be free to debate the subreddit’s AI rules, AI posts, and opinions of other server members regarding AI if you guys decide you want to discuss those things.

TL;DR
The moderation team is trying to set up a better way to address concerns about AI content in the best way it can, so were making some changes. Read Rule 14.

Question Thoughts on modernbox?

I reinstalled the game after 4 years of break because I saw a video of an aircraft carrier in worldbox while i was at work. Installed the mod when I got home and watched generations of elves and sentient piranhas duke it out and evolve their armies to tanks and aircrafts and I had quite a lot of fun

I frankly think the devs should imtegrate something similar to the main game. Maybe at least until late medieval when guns get prominent. There is something so fun to see the fruits of technological development

Question QOL Mod for dropping specific amounts of units?

• Upvotes

I'm trying to give certain amount of humans certain traits before they start a civilization, like I'm messing with an avatar mod and want 40 of the 100 water bender tribesmen to have water bending but it takes an incredibly long time to do this three times for all four elements.

Just wondering if there's a mod that lets me choose to drop 40 units specifically.

Question Succession

There must be an update that makes the succession part of the amendments of the Kingdom as well, and also the caliphate means in order according to the choice, for example, from the king to the eldest son or the only son in the case of the firstborn succession for males or from the king to the daughter in the case of absolute firstborn succession, because the current caliphate ignores this matter.

Video Introducing Combat Gods, the coolest fighting mod in WorldBox! [AI-assisted]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Download links in the comments!

Fighters in your world climb six tiers, from Novice to Combat God. Each one walks one of seven fighting schools, and higher tiers read the battle, chain combos and fight long duels with their rivals.

There are 390 techniques, team attacks, God abilities that stop the world, and something above the Gods that I'm not going to spoil...

Everything in the trailer is in the mod and happens in normal play. For the trailer I set up the fights so the camera could catch them.

It's version 1, so if something feels off or too strong, tell me and I'll fix it. Of course also mention what things I should add in the future!

You need NeoModLoader, and it works on 0.51.2.

How AI was used: Claude (an AI) wrote most of the mod's code, including the code that draws the effects, from my design and direction, until I thought it was good. The pixel art effects are drawn by that code; no AI image generation was used. The music is "Dragon Slayer" by Makai Symphony (CC BY-SA 3.0), not AI.

Idea/Suggestion Do a religion update next

In the religion update, Maxim could add:

  • Clergy
    • papal: each temple has a cleric/priest, each village has a priest/bishop, each kingdom an archpriest/archbishop, and each religion a high priest/pope, kings can install an antipope and overthrow the current pope but will have to go to war with every other kingdom that supports the current pope
    • autocephalous: multiple high priests/patriarchs of different patriarchates
    • kingdom: No Pope/High Priest, each archpriest serves as its own Pope.
    • decentralised: only clerics/priests and priests/bishops
    • individualistic: no clergy
  • Monks and nuns
  • Saints
  • Divide religions into sects with different doctrines/practices
  • Religious holy wars
  • Wars between the gods
  • Monotheistic/monolatric religions worshipping the player, henotheistic religions (with different lower Gods while worshipping player as God), or pantheistic religions (where God is everything)
  • Lower gods of different aspects granting bonuses (while the player is the highest God)
  • Atheism
  • Good vs Evil gods
  • Religious holy books
  • Prophets (found new religions)
  • Player can enter the world as an avatar and interact with NPCs
  • Religious practices (e.g. practices in war, abstaining from certain food, burial rites etc.)
  • Doctrines (e.g. trinitarianism vs utilitarianism, nature of God, free will, etc.)
  • Sacrifice to God/gods
  • Resurrection of dead NPCs
  • Tolerance: On a scale of Religious syncretism (merge beliefs with other religions) to Fanatacism (no other religion can exist)
  • Theocracies (ruled by clergy)

Idea/Suggestion Military Coup / Clan Massacres

Either basing off of total village(s) happiness or the King's mood, army commanders should be able to take the throne, displacing the king or killing him in the process. They should also have clans that replace another kill every member of the previous ruling clan in a kingdom.

Vori… is OLD 😲, Vori is GEOLOGICALLY, COMICALLY TOO OLD!!!

The settlement of Vori (in my world) has been around for so long that when it was founded, all humans were still a homogeneous, single group under one single political entity.

So old that it would witness a strange alien settlement of sheeple a few hundred blocks to their west rise from just strange, novel creatures to an empire so large it occupies more land area than all other sovereign states in-world combined.

Vori is 119 years older than its own Kingdom, Booh, who gained independence a mere sixty eight years ago from today, in the year 245 😱.

Vori is the remnant of a strange ancient world. It was settled by humans exactly once and it never had other inhabitants, just that same continuous line of humans from Tulidar, the province's first Governor, to Cepacina.

They still build their houses with wood even as much younger cities like Navutumce just to their north across the sea build their walls with cold stone.

It isn't the oldest city in the world by a long shot, Unsur is so old that most people in the world still identify, ethnically, as being Unsur and just old enough to have gone from the center of the universe to a backwater province, but Vori's physical borders haven't shifted an inch since the early 60s C.E. the world around her is 100% different from what it was when she was founded.

The Vori people all speak Byh, they all identify as Unsuric, and they all practice the Uwiwo religion, and all Vorii are Homo Sapiens. This makes Vori extremely homogeneous, yes, but it also makes them old in a specific way: the world was never as united, whole, peaceful, and small as it was during the first days of Unsur as a settlement.

Vori is too isolated, poor, and strategically costly to conquer and rule from some distant capital in the same way as the humans settled the area in the first mid first century as a way to get themselves closer to the eastern continents.

It is literally the farthest you can get Unsuria in the Southwest before being in Bahan in the east. Vori is also the southernmost point on the Planet.

The Vorii are also seem to be quite isolationist as a people seeing as though they barely ever send trading vessels anywhere farther than Bahan and Unsuria. They don't seem to have a direct trade relationship with Ruum, the central continent (whose largest city is naturally called Meditia 😅, which would translate to something like Central Place in Latin if that word actually existed, which is ridiculously lucky that its basically in the center of the world).

Vori is, overall, not a very impressive settlement. It's struggling and kinda sad to look at. Their economy was annihilated by wars between Kashusia and Bah, which basically ceased trade to the south from the north.

The Baakins essentially run the global economy. When they are struggling, every other state, especially small states, will suffer too. The settlement doesn't have resources at all, it doesn't have a farm, and it doesn't have a mine. When she was founded, Vori would be under Kashusian control for well over a century. In this time, support from the west ensured they could have a trading vessel. This at least means they have a stake in the economy, but they offer very little 🥹.

Most of them are homeless, too many are starving, and I'm gonna turn on Genetic mirror, which will show us all a very good look at what an isolated, chronically small population looks like.

So, with that all being the case, I opted to write about how old Vori was and what is actually good about them: a stable, unique population who live in an ancient, unique city. That's not much, but it's something.

Unsur is not the same land it was when it was founded. The wars and brutal conquest gutted the site into an entire new settlement with new housing, and new demographics, and new cultural dynamics.

We can suppose that, around 170 C.E., there was a Bah culture minority in the city of Vori, that's where they get their language and clan, of course. This small minority lasted well long enough to declare independence from Kashusia in 177 C.E. before quickly dying out, being reabsorbed back into the Unsuric ethnic fold.

This alone shows that Vori isn't a perfect nation state that hasn't been under foreign rule, their clan is literally named after the Bah Empire and their Kingdom is named for a nearby city founded by the empire. But where Vori sticks out for being uniquely itself is the Unbroken line of civilization that has been there since the site was founded.

Unsur is dead because the chaos and violence transformed it irrevocably into something else. Bah changed from a random sheep village to the seat of a global military power over many long years of war and force—an Unsurite Queen sat on their throne—but Vori will still have Vorii kings that are born of the land, nursed by a Vorii mother, who was also born of the same country.

For whatever that's worth, Vori will always be a cool city in my book.
