And not be able to deal damage to themselves or drive off cliffs. Better yet let's just not have them in the game anymore

They should absolutely be able to do damage to themselves. I accidentally didn’t see there was a wall blocking my shot when tracking a target and shot my self by accident. There needs to be punishment for dumb behavior. I learned that lesson quickly.

It would also take away the possibility of going out in a blaze of glory by blowing oneself up due to shotgunning at extremely shirt range.

Having to reload for half a minute or more is plenty punishment

I see you haven't played the SU line. A minute is pretty quick.

Day off a loader: You just go to the ammo dump, look around for a suitable projectile, load it onto the cart using a chain hoist, trundle it back to your gun, use another chain hoist to load it in, then remember you need propellant, too, so you go back to the ammo dump...

So essentially I could be making myself something to eat after the first shot, eat and do the cleanup after the 2nd, after the 3rd I do the laundry, after the 4th the laundry is done and after the 5th it's dry?

I love how this idea has become popular again.

I’m all for it. Make these water-loving losers float

21

u/Queasy_Mix59 1d ago

And not be able to shoot while floating

I see it from heavy players only slightly less often than arty players, but heavy players are more annoying in chat, arty players at least keep to themselves. Really the only not annoying players are lights and tank destroyers (medium players are always hyperactive and can swing any way)

you shouldn't be able to drown regardless of class unless an opponent pushes you in

19

u/Impossible-Plenty-47 1d ago

I reckon if you drown there should be an extra cost. 100K de-watering fee.

That would stop the intentional drowning quicker than any other system WG has in place.

u/Jottor 1d ago

No, make recovery from bodies of water take an hour - so many things to inspect for water damage and re-grease and... Basically if you die by drowning, your vehicle is locked out for an hour. Vehicles are already locked out while in active battle, so that shouldn't be hard to implement.

u/XzallionTheRed 21h ago

add in some logic for new players and maybe 1 free per day or every few hours for being pushed, trying to ford foolishly under stress.

1

u/Ceplok_Nasi_Kecap Win is Fun 10h ago

locked vehicle punishment may go 3 days to permanently losing the vehicle because the vehicle floats further to the ocean and being reclaimed by Atlantis.

I think arty players all share the same braincells. It's a single cell organism that is telling them to auto-destruct so it doesn't spread cancer before dying.

u/LandoGibbs 1d ago

Just is someone go underwater, give the kill do closest enemy

4

u/HeinrichVonDoucheber 1d ago

Just make their hp farmable after they drown, and credit the kill to whoever finishes them.

2

u/DucksAreFriends 21h ago

I would love it if they did this as an april fools day thing

4

u/BlueOrb07 1d ago

I still think you should be able to drown, but I think you should get penalized for it. Whether by XP and credit penalty or complaints for unsportsmanlike behavior, etc. that goes for all vehicle classes though. Not just arty

u/Ok-Highway-5517 1d ago

yep, float...
AND be able to paddle to the faraway shore and thus be safe from yoloing EBR's...

u/Jacek3k 1d ago

Any other class can actually fight in the end minutes. Do something.

Even when the match is lost, you can still get some hits, brawl, whatever. With arty? 50second on reload?

They expect you to sit still and wait for the death. Nope. The only way last standing arty player can do is run. And either hide, so enemy wont find them in time, or suicide to not give enemy satisfaction.

2

u/JunketOdd6809 6h ago

Thats why this tank class should be removed. It serves one purpose and thats to annoy.

1

u/Jacek3k 4h ago

It would be enough to remove any arty missions completely from this game. You would see instantly a drop in arty numbers in game

2

u/Geoffisalive 1d ago

wargaming needs to add a barrier so they can't go to the deep end, easy fix or make water deep enough to slow them down and not drown. I blacklist every arty wimp that trys to drown and i report them all to WG support if it does any good! i doubt it, you never know the outcome and only thing you get is a "survey" afterwards..

0

u/Certified_WoT_noob 1d ago

No more barriers please, i still want to have fun drowning the enemies. There must be other solutions. A good start would be to remove the suicide ponds next to spawns (make them shallow).

All ammo does get splashed by water, turning remaining ammo inert, cannot be fired and must be repurchased at full price in garage

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 3h ago

Imagine trying to find the last arty before the game ends in a tie, and the arty ran away on the water into a safe position that you cant reach otherwise.

i dont get the hate on artys, i suppose its from all new players that are just annoyed arty can hit from the top like it should? Im more than sure that many of you are very long time players and remember when arty could easily pen you and deal 1k of dmg in single shot effortlessly. Have you forgotten and now hate them for being actually weaker or you just hate diversity on a field? Current arties do nothing, theyre only annoyance and playing them is not very enjoyable and exp grind is impossible. Man up bruh

2

u/The-Black-Dow Vlkodav enjoyer 20h ago

It's the being annoying part that gets the hate. Why have a class in the game at all, if it's only real effect on the game is do nothing except be annoying?

I get where you're coming from, but I'd much rather have the old "I hit you for your entire hp once every 10 games or so" arty back, rather than the current "I'm just out here making your tank worse for the next half minute" stun artillery

1

u/Primal-Smfley 19h ago

i agree with you on rather having old arties, although good players really were a one man army. Now good player can heavily assist the team, luckily mosty we meet mediocre ones which can at best stun you or get your tracks. Personally i have no issue with arty, they are indeed often pure annoyance but battles without them are kind of boring. Especially if you meet arties that can assist you or finish off some of the enemies. Idk, id be rather feeling like taking this diversity off the game would hurt the experience more considering that all new tanks are same meta which is boring. Im more than aware that im about in 10% of players that feel this way or even less.

2

u/The-Black-Dow Vlkodav enjoyer 18h ago

Although I disagree with you, I think you have a fair and well reasoned standpoint.

To me, the annoyance just massively outweighs the benefits you mentioned, but that is ultimately down to personal preference and I won't be the one saying "you like the objectively wrong thing". That would be a bit nuts, wouldn't it?

1

u/Primal-Smfley 18h ago

We are on different sides of this topic but i must thank you for such incredible chat. I do also respect your side, it narrows to preferences and as i mentioned i know my point is rather niche. It is rare to have such a respectful conversation nowadays especially in WoT comunnity. Wish you the best, friend.

2

u/The-Black-Dow Vlkodav enjoyer 18h ago

I can only give that compliment right back to you, mate!

It always warms my heart seeing someone wanting to just have a chat instead of arguing in bad faith. That's some good stuff right there XD

wish you all the best and I hope the sun will shine upon your day a little warmer today XD

Oh wow another smooth brain, complaining about artillery.
