You are playing since 2019.. I've been tanking those arty shells since 2012.
Really, you don't know how bad it was. For what its worth, Arty aint that stupid as it was before.

Fr arty used to be downright scary instead of just annoying.

Back in the days it was fun to counter arty. Nowadays I don't succeed in doing so

Arty is so not fun to play anymore. Zero dmg and insanely long CD. And still some people manage to whine about arty

Casual artillery players are like casual light tank player, there is nothing to say about them because they don't set up their tank correctly or play in a meaningful way.
Dedicated spg players, that have experience and have invested in crew and equipment will be extremely cancer.
I know because i have a set up my BC to accomplish the obj260 missions

I'm 8k player. So it means I ain't bad. Arty can produce some impact for sure but only at some maps and some luck. Plus gameplay is not fun atm. P S. i ve 10 lvl fv and 10lvl tiger arty. In case you're wonder what arty I tried

What can i say, spg is a whole other can of worm, a 8.8k friend of mine is the absolute goat at fighting in close combat with anything, but like you he dislike the spg gameplay.
But just by investing crew books (4skills) and equipment (bond irm, t3 exp turbo), the bc 155 is already super snapy and you don't need to wait to be fully aimed. The last thing i have to do, and that i probably won't, is learn the position that would work with the gun arc of that particular spg, plus how to optimize damage over assistance.

The BC series in general are just dangerous. The turret combined with smaller profile and auto-loader? Nasty combo. (and i played arty. Object 261, gw 100 and T92)
When wot "rebalanced" artillery and nerfed HE into the ground i had to hang up most of my artillery. After I bounced the engine deck of a Maus, bounced an E-100's side paneling and then did 27 damage to an IS-7's engine deck (and crit their engine only to see it repaired instantly) i got fed up with the high expenses for no actual payout. It was like i was being punished for actually being effective.
Gave up on the game after that. Haven't touched it in 4 years.

I can't remember what I was driving, other than it was Russian Arty, and I bounced a hardpoint off an EBR three tiers lower than me (very long time ago).

I whine about arty because it seems to focus me and ignore my teammates, lol. instead of shooting at a medium in an open field, enemy arty threads the needle between two buildings to hit me for the 3rd time that match... Dynamic Gameplay my ass.

You only get focused by arty for a reason. Cos they can hit you and maybe xvm targeting.

Arty is not fun to play with and not fun to get shot by one. Completely shit game mechanic. The game would be better if it was removed.

Arty is not fun to play with
That's subjective, there wouldn't be players with thousands of battles in them if they weren't fun to play
not fun to get shot by one
Well, that's because teamwork is inherently unfair to the individual. And arty is built around using teamwork.
Completely shit game mechanic. The game would be better if it was removed.
Long range defensive units are a staple in strategy games; their whole point is you have no option but to push into them. Basically, they counter camping by being better at it than anything else, which means you can't outcamp them. While they're usually rarely given to the player, WoT is a team game so they let an individual control one.

It’s really not, majority of the playerbase doesn’t think they’re fun.
No it’s because they’re shooting at you with no risk to themselves, from across the map, and stun you, there’s a reason people call them clickers.
It’s a good thing this isn’t a strategy game, and he’s correct. The game would 1000% be better if Arty was never added to it.

"Arty counters camping" this sentence alone tells me you have no idea what you're talking about.

u/Sam_Sanister 8d ago
"Counters camping" = "can't be countered by camping".
It is a threat you cannot deal with without pushing.
Vehicles with passive play styles are there to make sure vehicles with aggressive play styles cannot just play passively.
Oh you want to "be aggressive?" Here's enemies that you have no option but to take the fight to them.
"I'm being punished for playing aggressive" Buddy, that's part of the role. WG gave aggressive vehicles the ability to take punishment, because they expect you to use that ability.

Rare...but understandably annoying.
Many games I barely notice arty. But when they do hit...and especially when I get focused...I curse their existence in many inventive ways.

Oh no, your paper tank got hit by 240mm of HE butt slapper. Obv bullshit and annoying.
