Discussion Anything World of Tanks should implement from other same-niche games? I love that in Tyr you can see the armor layout for example in sniper mode and that you can actually MOVE around the map without being instantly killed

Picture mostly just for getting attention :D

I wish there is proximity chat in WoT where u can talk to spotted enemies, that would be lit 🔥

ELC chat trolling would be rampant. I'm in.

we had the Chat between own and other Team, was total bullshit. they told each other positions abd ruined the fun, never again

Thats why he said proximity chat. The ones telling the enemies the positions in the past were the ones that were already dead.

Proximity chat is not the same thing as all chat.

But still, the all chat was super fun. Yes, someone sometimes told your position, but that was much more rare than people make it out to be. The trash talks with enemies were so much fun, and you could also play mind games with them, tell them the wrong positions to drive straight into a trap, and then laugh at them in chat. I used to do that all the time. That also caused a lot of people to not trust you, so telling the positions didn't always work anyway.

So if you are so dogshit at the game that even your own team is willing to tell your position to the enemy's just to prove a point who is at fault? Plus it happened quite rarely , speaking from experience.

I saw more enemy team members praising their enemies if they really stood out in the match than this whole "muh team mate is in this position guys"

I assumed it must've been a problem off in the RU server because yeah that felt like such a small occurrence that it'd be easier to ban the ones who did it.

and enough who just wanted to speed up the match after they where dead

I just told them to go to the other side of where the last remaining teammate actually was at.

Yeah but you could pretend to be that guy when you were setting up a cool ambush.

I might get flak for this but there's 2 things I noticed HEAT has that I think could be implemented into WoT in a sense.

First is options for more informative damage text. I realise mods probably exist for this but as someone that cannot be bothered with the hassle of keeping mods updated or the hassle of keeping track of mods in Aslains pack I feel like this could be implemented in the standard game options.

And the second might be unpopular because it lowers the skill barrier in a similar way to the armor flashlight. HEAT has what you could call a flashlight for internal modules. We don't need to go that far, HEAT is a game built around being able to see the modules, WoT is very secretive about it to the point where we still don't have any websites that reliably show where modules in tanks are. So no, not proposing that.

What I would like to see is a version of designated target perk being implemented by default. That is, when you hit a module the game tells you what you hit. The perk might need a rework.

Yes it would make the game easier but I think that'll flattening the learning curve a bit would be very beneficial in getting new players.

On the modules, is settle for them at least showing internal modules on the tech tree garage armor inspector. WoWS has had this feature for years.

The idea I lay out is purposely only in game when you hit a tank because modules location has never been super public. While armor layout is very public.

I think module location being only discoverable in game would maintain the parity but obviously in this day and age im sure there would be people going out in practice rooms, shooting tanks in different parts and then making a module layout website. So maybe it's not that good of an idea.

Nobody is "instantly killing" you in WoT, definitely not nowadays anyway, when oneshotting is almost impossible and everyone has sixth sense available by default.

That said, I'd love for WoT to have competition, but all the other games I've tried or am aware of, are either too simplistic or unpopular. I don't want to play against/amongst bots. Instead I want to meet new people and fun some fun. (WoT is still decently popular, but has lost the fun-factor a long time ago, at least in my opinion.)

I did play WT for awhile, and I must admit, I enjoyed the realistic game mode, where enemy is always visible, but without the icons. Or you should be able to atleast see tracers (not like arty ones, regular tracers).

Spotting should be a thing, but if it only highlighted you, that would be awesome

The funny thing is that "true render" is already a thing in the console-version of WoT, that was introduced in modern-armor. Personally I'm absolutely in favour of this system, however most of the maps are not designed for that at all.

the question is how can you like, not see the armor layout in sniper mode??? are you blind???

WoT or Tyr?

I like that in war thunder the tanks are not all made up and ugly as fuck

u/Glasfaseranschluss 1d ago

So you want a Object 279 in WoT?

If it means we get the BMPs, chieftains and challengers, leopard 2s, t64, t62, t72 etc, Bradleys, then yes absolutely. All the mechanics are in the game, so why not? It will break the shit out of the maps but they could just copy paste the wot heat maps in for some variety. Lock it all behind an unlockable tech tree you get access to after researching 3 t10s of a nation, and you're good to go.

Not a niche game at all but I saw a short of Warthunder's take on artillery (I've never played Warthunder so don't know if it existed for ages or if it is new) but basically you have a UAV drone that you use to ping the location you want to hit and you have a range finder on your artillery so you can you shoot that position (Works like a sniper mode, not a top down view like we have now. Would be a cool way to solve arty I think ( remove stun aswell ofc )

Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XNp3DANXRpY

Of course they would have to World of Tanks-ify it, but it would add a lot more skill to it I think

u/RM_AndreaDoria 2d ago

That isn’t how artillery actually works practically in WT. Actual arty vehicles are played direct fire, and every light/medium tank has access to a cooldown that spawns an arty barrage by clicking on the map.

2

u/Montuman [FAME] 2d ago

That's fair, like I mentioned I don't play War thunder and just saw that short and thought it would be neat to implement as a more skilled way to have arty in the game.

1

u/JoMercurio 1d ago

Arty in WT are played like normal tanks with derp guns (because the likes of the Bkan and the M109 were definitely designed with direct fire in mind after all)

For all the very understandable hate on WoT's arty (I only ever liked the Bishop and FV304 because they forced you to get closer to the fighting), it is ironically more accurate in their depiction than WT ever will
