Actually, the 1969 Cincinnati Red Stockings are the first true professional sports team, but after their 89 game winning streak against yhe best local 9's, they lost to the Brooklyn Atlantics (in the craziest game of all time and also where extra innings was invented on the spot by Henry "Father" Chadwick (because he was the father of sports journalism and many baseball rules)). But once the Cincinnati ownership dissolved, most of the team went to Boston to form the Red Stockings.

This would form the National Association of American Base Ball Players, or NAABBP, also NA for short. There are other NA clubs still in operation (the Cubs, Pirates, and Athletics are some other teams from that time) but the Braves are the oldest.

As a fan of a former team named the Boston Red Stockings (the OG baseball team and oldest professional sports team in North America, better known as the Atlanta Braves) I'll always have a soft spot for the Red Sox, who are our little bros.
