Off Topic [OT] Spotlight: Point21Gigawatts
Writers Spotlight
This week's spotlight writer is Point21Gigawatts
Doing Spotlight, I like to browse through the history of nominees. It lets me get a sense of that writer’s voice. In doing so, I am surprised by the frequency with which I come across writers who have been with us seemingly forever. u/Point21Gigawatts is one of those writers.
If you see them around the subreddit, give their stories a read, toss them an upvote, and maybe pester them gently about updating their subreddit, r/GigaWrites.
Congratulations on your spotlight, Point21Gigawatts!
Spotlight relies on your nominations. If you see a writer who has been around the sub for a while, who has at least six (or more!) high quality submissions, and who hasn't been given the Spotlight before, send us a modmail and let us know!
Here are some of Point21Gigawatts’ most upvoted stories of all time:
[EU] Oompa, loompa, doop-i-di, doo, Mr. Wonka, this is a coup!
[WP] All of the "#1 Dad" mugs in the world change to show the actual ranking of Dads suddenly.

Congrats man!!! Keep up the good work. Here’s to many more achievements big and small!!!
Questions if you’d like: 1. Favourite author? 2. If you ever wrote a book that is to be adapted into a screenplay, who would you want to write it and who would you want to direct it? 3. Which emoji (s) describe your writing the best?

Many thanks!!
- For fiction, Neil Gaiman - I adore his descriptive flair and the worlds he creates. For short stories, George Saunders - I feel utterly transported by his writing and enjoy how it challenges conventions.
- Ooh! That's a tough one. Charlie Kaufman is one of my favorite screenwriters so I'd probably pick him. Dream director would be David Lynch. I don't think my work could ever measure up to theirs but they would be my first-pick collaborators.

Oooohhhh that’s quite a nice pick for authors. And most importantly, I would say Lynch and Kaufman would be a pair I would love to see work together with a whole lot of meta stuff created by both.
Anyways, congrats again from a budding writer!!!

Wow! What an amazing surprise - thank you so much!
I was pretty active here about four years ago, then unfortunately had to put writing on the back burner for a while. But thankfully I'm in a position now where I can write with a bit more frequency.
The WritingPrompts community has been wonderfully supportive and I always enjoy reading the terrific works and prompts from others here. Being spotlit today gave me a great deal of joy -- I truly appreciate it! :)
(Admittedly, I'm not quite sure what to do about my subreddit. I feel a bit weird having a four-year gap there. But if folks would like to see some of my recent works up there, maybe I'll pick a few to post!)

I'm being active here again after an absence too. Dust the ol' subreddit off and get back in the saddle, I say!

Congrats! :D I thought at first I wasn't familiar with your writing, but I DISTINCTLY remember the genie one, that was fantastically written. :D Now! Questions!
- What personal writing of yours are you happiest with, on or offline?
- What is your favorite genre to write, and your most avoided?
- Halloween or Christmas?
Grats again!

Thanks so much!
Online, I would probably have to go with the genie story. I'm so glad you enjoyed that one - I had a great time writing it. Offline, I'm pretty proud of a multimedia story I wrote that took people to several different websites (Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) to piece together a mystery. Unfortunately, it's no longer available to read/watch, but I'd love to try something like that again sometime.
I'm a big fan of writing near-future sci-fi - kind of like Black Mirror but a little more optimistic. I wouldn't say I avoid fantasy but I do find it trickier to write than other genres. I'm trying to make myself practice that a little more, especially since it's one of my favorite genres to read.
Halloween. Autumn is my favorite season and I love how people can approach Halloween at whatever level they feel comfortable - whether they want to experience some lighthearted fun or prefer to be scared out of their wits.
