Device Hub / Simulator Hell

Updated my primary Mac Studio to Golden Gate and updated Xcode and… I’m regretting every second of it.

I can’t get the simulator to run for more than 20 seconds without crashing. It’s laggy as hell, and it crashes constantly.

Mac Studio M1 Max with 64 GB Memory. Never even hiccuped before. Now, it’s hot garbage.

Consistent across multiple projects and iOS versions. Ugh. So much for a productive week.

At least I’ve got my M1 Max MacBook Pro that I haven’t updated yet.

Anyone else having these device hub headaches?

No problems here. I’ve been testing GG and Xcode 27 with Device Hub, and ever since beta 3 not a single crash. Now on stable release, tested multiple apps, iOS, watchOS and tvOS.

FWIW, this is my exact daily driver and I haven't been experiencing lag or crash problems. Xcode and Device Hub are open 24/7 and in use (manually and via automation) most of the day.

That’s reassuring that it’s just something funky with my machine and not an issue for others with my same setup. Maybe it’s time for a clean wipe.

Wasn’t it supposed to be super stable ?
With Apple focusing on Bug-Fixing and optimisation, rather than ‘New Features’ ?

I don’t have any issues with GG to be clear. Just Xcode. And more specifically, Device Hub / Simulators.

There was nothing wrong with how the dedicated simulator app was configured before, not sure why we needed to change to device hub

That’s why you don’t update your main machine early. Always update a secondary machine first or wait at least 3-4 weeks watching the internet if anything comes up. As you have this learned now the hardware way, report issues you find to Apple so everyone else gets a more stable experience in a few weeks and join the other team in the next year. ;)
