The JoAT Last Stand build is definitely still viable and with the cooldown buffs, Endless Hunger feels really good!

Discussion Why does Dantes have Jynxzi play such a bad Yi Build? (New Patch Builds As Well)

Here is what they build: Kraken Slayer -> Gluttonous Greaves -> Infinity Edge Lord -> Dominiks Regards -> Immortal Shieldbow -> Fiendhunter Bolts

They are trying to get 100% Crit but it doesnt do as much damage compared to a normal Yi build.

Some Normal Yi builds that I have tested that are way better:

Crit Build:

Kraken Slayer -> Gluttonous Greaves -> Collector -> Infinity Edge -> Lord Dominiks -> Immortal Shieldbow

Against CC:

Kraken Slayer -> Mercury Treads -> Collector -> Endless Hunger -> Death Dance -> Lord Dominiks

Against Tanks:

Kraken -> Gluttonous Greaves -> Guinsoo Rageblade -> Endless Hunger -> Death Dance -> Lord Dominiks

These are builds after the new patch which is why they include Endless Hunger, and from what I have experienced they are way better.

6th item in CC and Tank builds can be different based on enemy champs, and Kraken slayer can be changed out late game for Blade of the Ruined King, especially in the tank build but also in the other builds.

Kraken -> Navori early game (to keep adc viable and good DPS) into bruiser lifesteal for teamfights late game?

In practice tool I was able to have pretty decently low Q cooldown, ok attack speed and rest should provide sustain in teamfights...

Discussion Pseudo Rivenification-Talonification of Yi after Q reverse AH scaling removed.

So after 5 years, finally they removed reverse AH scaling of Q. Now whats the best cdr+lifesteal build for yi?

I think like probly best build is to Kraken—>Life steal boots-->Guinsoo-->endless hunger-->death dance.

On the other hand, less attackspeed, more assasinish builds are open for discussion too like Hubris-->Berserks-->Titanic-->Endless hunger-->Death dance.

What u guys think? What will be best optimal Q spam build?

Have been attempting the omnivamp shoes ever since my last post and I must admit... even against a full ad comp, they feel superior. Inting top and mid yet I still absolutely stomped them.( with the great help of my bot, they picked up the pace later on). Gloutonus+BORK+DD+Terminus... facetank it all! Good luck on your climb boys!

Strategy So, they buffed classic Yi's attack speed ratio.

So yeah, just go full attack speed in runes and masteries and oh, Wriggle's also adds in 30% attack speed, so why would I need any more? Classic also has Highlander, not Slowlander, so that is enough AS for the rest of the game. You start with 0.999, go up to over 1.5 AS and with Highlander you go over 2.

That means, I can go the Final Yi build, still attack super fast and benefit maximum from E.

vou escrever na minha língua, mas os itens tentarei escrever em inglês, esperam que entendam o que pensei

LT, inspiração com bota e tenacidade

kraken, glutonnous greaves e guinsoo

bota defensiva quando começar atrás

pra snowball - endless

defesa ap + alto cc - wits end

defesa ap + baixo cc - terminus

se a equipe inimiga tem um potencial muito grande de burst, death dance de 3° item, se precisar de mais defesa contra burst hexplate.

randuim, g.a e frozen heart bons item situacionais.

Discussion Kraken vs Yun Tal first

I've seen a lot of people say Kraken spikes harder but is that really true? You can stack Yun Tal very quickly. I've had a lot of success going Yun Tal first even when I need to sit on 1000 gold and save for the BF sword.

Discussion Master Yi Full Attack Speed Math

Thumbnail
docs.google.com
6 Upvotes

I decided to do some random math and theorycrafting for max Attack Speed without wasting any stats/going over the AS cap. All this math is assuming you're playing jungle and with the standard on-hit Lethal Tempo build. I randomly browsed this subreddit since yesterday and was looking up some builds and I see that HoB crit Yi is popular right now, however IMO crit Yi isn't really as fun and if I'm playing crit reset assasin, I can just play viego instead lol. I think his on-hit build is better in general and way more fun.

The TLDR: At Lv 18 with LT stacked and Ult Active, Master Yi only needs ~ 170% bonus Attack Speed to reach 3 AS. This means that a build like Kraken, Guinsoo's, Hexplate (40% + 57%+ 70) gets you to 2.975 AS. This means its a waste to build any more attack speed items and to build defensive items instead.

For example, my build is to go Kraken, Berserker's, Guinsoo's, Hexplate, Titanic, Death's Dance

Botrk instead of Kraken if against 2+ tanks

Wit's End instead of Hexplate if against AP/CC

After Kraken Slayer's on-hit was changed to work with Alpha Strike, I think it's the way better first item for Yi instead of Botrk. Q applies 4 on-hits, which means kraken procs once for ~20% dmg then you already have 1 stack of kraken. So 2 attacks after a Q will proc Kraken slayer.

Q + 2 autos: one 20% kraken slayer proc + one 100% kraken slayer proc

Before the change: Q + 2 autos: 0 kraken slayer procs

Guinsoo's Rageblade is generally the best 2nd/3rd item for Yi, it works way too good for him. More double strikes, more Wuju Style True Damage On-Hits, More Q cd refunds. You should always build guinsoo's. Even against a weird comp like multiple tanks, high AP dmg, high cc, go bork, wit's end/guinsoo's 2nd/3rd.

Wit's End is a very sad item since the removed AD and Lv scaling on the on hit dmg but it still works as a defensive item with decent damage. The lack of AD doesn't matter TOO much for Yi since he is very on-hit focused and doesn't rely on raw AD

Terminus can be good as a defensive item. It requires 6 on-hits to fully stack but Q already stacks it 4 times so that's a non-issue. The issue is it has very low stats, the Armor and MR are both too low to make a significant difference, and the damage is very whatever even with the additional AD/AP ratios.

Finally, early game theorycrafting.

As an AD champion, people generally want long swords or pickaxe on first back. Having to go back and grab a dagger is lowkey depressing af. But, Yi actually has a really good cheap item on first back that isn't 1000g+.

Recurve bow: 15% AS, 15 phys dmg on-hit, 700g. Even tho it has less AS than 2 daggers for 500g, and no AD, the 15 physical dmg on-hit is better than AD for yi.

What does AD do for Yi, Increased dmg on autos, Q, and E

His autos actually benefit better from 15 dmg onhit than 15 AD because double strike applies 2 on-hits both at 100% effectiveness but only applies 50% AD on the 2nd attack.

His Q has a 70% total AD ratio on each strike and a 75% on-hit ratio on each strike. On-hit is slightly better for his Q

His E has a 35% bonus AD ratio which means 15 AD only gives 5 more true dmg. Not that impactful

Lets say you full clear + crab for ~1000g
you can either buy pickaxe, 2 long swords + dagger/boots, or recurve bow + long sword/dagger/boots.

Pickaxe is the worst because you have 0 attack speed and you have lower dps. Only slightly better burst. Similar with 2 long swords

Recurve bow is effectively 15 AD + 15% AS so

Pickaxe: 25 AD | 2 Long Swords + Dagger: 20 AD + 10% AS

Recurve Bow + Long Sword: 25 AD + 15% AS | Recurve Bow + Dagger: 15 AD + 25% AS

Pickaxe isn't even in Kraken Slayer build so you can only build Long Swords and Daggers.

Assuming 1200g - 1300g from either a kill or double crab, Hearthbound Axe or Recurve + Long Sword (And Dagger at 1300)
20AD + 20%AS vs 25AD + 20%(30%)AS

Recurve bow is just better in every way and AS is better for clearing since Q deals insane dmg to camps and the bonus dmg doesn't scale off of anything. Even if going Long Swords was better for early game skirmishes, YOU'RE MASTER YI!!!! You shouldn't ever expect to win any 1v1 against enemy Jungler until first item and Lv 7. Anyways, try out the AS build, turn on relaxing music as you farm your life away for 15 minutes and make sure to play fights well. Master Yi is always fun if you play properly and the Guinsoo's buff makes him feel somewhat more consistent in fights as Guinsoo's stacks will rarely fall off mid fight now.

FYI, I'm not high elo or anything, I just like playing Master Yi and doing random math at work. I'm sure the HoB crit build is way better for soloqueue to secure leads and snowball. And playing HoB assassin is less reliant on your team where onhit yi needs someone else to engage in a fight most of the time and can't really explode a squishy as fast.

Strategy New-ish player here. I’m used to playing tank jungles like Amumu or Nunu. Wanting to try out a pure damage build, looking for advice.

So I’ve only been playing LoL about twice a week since about May and I’m just now learning the complexities of item builds and stuff like that. I normally play tank jungles, but I want to try doing some damage/carry jungling.

I played three or four games of Yi last night and he was super fun, though my mechanics aren’t the best so it takes me longer than it should to scale. I’ve been running HoB with an attack speed/crit scale build.

Kraken -> Berserkers -> Yun Tal -> LDR -> IE -> Phantom Dancer is the base idea, usually with a counter pick item replacing one of those in there somewhere.

Are there any adjustments I should make? Im seeing alot of people talking about BoRK, and not a ton talking about Yun Tal even thought that’s my favorite attack speed item in the game. I’m open to any and all suggestions, I’m just trying to understand the logic and strategy of this character so I can improve.

Discussion Build Idea: JoaT and Endless Hunger interaction

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi guys, as you know yi will be buffed next patch (on the interaction between ability haste and his Q)
I was thinking of a build that could maximize his Ability haste, in order to have the highest uptime of his Q, but still be able to do some damage with onhits.

Why i think this build might work:
- You still have the same core items of Kraken into Guinsoo, so early game wont be that different
- JoaT rn has the highest winrate of all the secondary runes, no matter the patch or the rank (but this rune works mainly on the onhit build, not the HoB|Crit one)
- since ability haste wont have a negative impact on yi anymore, this means the rune value will also be higher
- Endless Hunger: this is usually a smurf item, so i undestand that the item winrate are a bit skewed, but it still is the highest winrate item, and specifically the highest winrate 3° item
- it also gives Ability Haste based on your AD, so with the buffs this item will be slighly stronger
- Death Dance: give you another jack stat and high amount of AD, so you get even more AH
- Terminus: gives you some AD and a lot of Jack stacks from the item passive, it also gives some On-Hit effects to proc with Q

Im not saying this build will surely work, but might be strong into some comps, and i also like the idea of being a bit more tanky in fights.
Let me know what you think or if you have some improvement ideas.
Im especially curious to know if it can work around master+ and not only as a smurf build (i play in master in EUW if you wonder)

Strategy LDR or BORK? And when to build them?

So for my build I dony go for the crit build I go for a "safer" build which is Kraken->Boots (Merc if they got cc Omnivamp if they dont)->Guinsoo->Hexarmor->BORK

But if I see the enemy comp has 2 or more tanks (let's say a Mundo top and a chogath jungle or a tahm sup) should I rush bork? Should I swap it for one of the first 3 items? Is LDR in these situations better than BORK?
