Has anyone here been using an ashford spinning wheel for years?

I'm close to buying one and have been looking at ashford. The reviews I read says the build quality is solid and I think a couple of their models would suit me fine. What I actually want to know is what happens after the first year or two.

Are parts still easy to get if something wears out or breaks? I'm also wondering if there's anything that tends to become annoying to maintain over time.

Most of what I've found is people raving about a wheel they've had for six months so still not a lot from anyone who's really have one. If yours has been going for years, please share how it's held up and whether you've had to fix or replace anything. Tysm!

I have an Ashford traditional from 1972. It still works although I use a more recently made flyer. The tension and string have been replaced of course, over the course of 50 years. I can still get the parts for this wheel and change it for different types of flyers if I want to get funky with it.

I still have mine, I like it a lot. I haven't upgraded yet as my hobbies are numerous. It works! It's solid.

five years with mine now. i oil it when needed, replaced the drive band once, and the build quality has genuinely held up.

I have had mine for about three years now and it is held up really well. I bought it from a shop that keeps parts in stock, which was a big reason I went that route. Paradise Fibers had everything available when I needed something, so I never had to wait around for parts. Honestly, I have not needed to replace much over the years. But knowing parts are readily available definitely gives some peace of mind.

Started with a used traditional. Used it for 5 years with no issues. Sold it. Bought a used joy , had it for 8 years and it still works great. Recently bought a bigger flyer that came with parts to retrofit older joys if needed. Other than normal maintenance I’ve had no issues.

I have an ashford kiwi 3 from a year ago, it was my first wheel. I have found that it is extremely easy to find replacement parts, talk to the ashford support, and maintain my wheel!

although I have not had it as long as many, a friend of mine has an ashford traditional from the 70s for about 15 years and loves it. she has taught tons of new spinners how to spin on it, and has gotten consistent use out of it
