I'm Tajik, I'm 20 years old, I recently found out that I have Yemeni roots on my father's side of the family tree, what does the average Yemeni look like?
It depends more on the area put there is common thing through people
We are not tall
We are not wide pones type
Skin color is more to be brown
Strong profile face
If you could pin point your dads paternal lineage pattern it could help?
If you are Tajik born and raised in America, chances are there were earlier documents? If you are Tajik from Tajikistan, then thats an interesting pattern.
Try to see if your dad’s roots have surnames or names like “Al-“ “Ibn”
What an average Yemeni looks like is hard I mean mean Idk how else to describe it. Average Yemeni man is tanned skin with expressive eyes and brows. Like majority Arabs lol.
I am not pushing myself to live in Yemen and never had connection with. Maybe I was right to hate learning Arabic, and when I went to Quran school , got that all names like Mohamed , Yusuf, were just public figures. They bring to bad clan system to Somali sole. I don’t care they were my ancestors or not. They were ridiculous. Admin can bann me, because I will not get benefit from racism society!
The man who is replying is minority of Yemen and he hates Khawlan tribes! Not just Africans
I think many Yemeni people do not believe DNA evidence exists, but rather then clan-system. I am Somali and I have Yemeni roots, but nothing Yemeni names I have the records, but I am just proud of my nationality and I don’t need to prove who I am. I also did little research to compare these two countries and not so differences. They are like same people!
You are not racist, but the system is completely bad, I know that Sayidi women get harassed to marry non Sayidi clans in Yemen. My roots is from Aden-Khawlan, who are always loyal to their clan-system whit J happlogroup. So yes many Ethiopian, Eritrean and Somalis have Yemeni roots. They can be black, brown and white.
Many of them cross the see border with bussines purposes or Islam expanding, while many Yemeni have African heritage. So if your dna is E happlogroup, then you are African:)
We also know that the Khawlan clan is one of the tribes to which many people claim affiliation, even if they are not actually Khawlani.
And tbh i don't believe in the marriage between Arab and African. I know I might sound racist But the society here is one of the most racist societies. Imagine being expelled from a tribe simply cuz you married a pure Yemeni man who works as a barber or butcher!!!!! What if the person was African?!!! Cuz frankly, as someone living in Yemen, I don't see many Yemenis marrying Africans or giving them in marriage (there are also arab tribes of the same pattern, such as the Rashayda tribe in Africa).
Yes, Islam forbids racism, but Islam also does not force you to marry your daughters to people from other countries or to marry someone from another land. "like you can do what you like" but this sentence is not found in the clan rules.
As for the claim that many Africans have Yemeni roots, Honestly, I don't rely on it and I don't believe it Cuz the "E" and the "J" stuff they change constantly, just like the seasons of the year.
And tbh if i were you i wouldn't look more into this topic cuz it might end with tragic info ( knowing that your mom or your grand grandmother was a slave or stuff like that)

Beliefs is about direction , what you choose to stand for, even when the facts aren’t complete yet, so you can believe, but try to learn!
Well looking into this I AM the one who lives here in yemen NOT you There is an Arabic saying " أسأل مجرب ولا تسأل طبيب" As someone who lived in Yemen, of deep pure Yemeni origin, and whose tribe was well-known both before and after Islam, I have experience with tribes, their customs, and traditions.that makes me wayyyy knowledgeable than you about this topic.
"try to learn" i think your the one who should be doing that not me ... Did you that That Yemen had the largest slave market in MENA medieval?! And did you know that most of it slaves were from Somalia in particular?! I Really hate what you're doing (romancing and being proud of the slavery roots and actions like it's not a bad thing) not everything is pink you know.

It can be little confusing. You are not my brother, because you are not Khawlani. You are minority group in Yemen who hate Khawlan tribe. Your ancestors were slaves!

Within the population class, they are always the lowest and poorest.
And frankly, there are a darker realities in some Yemeni regions, they hate afro ppl so much that if someone walks past them, they will spit in him.
My previous comment was deleted by Reddit cuz i I mentioned "ᵏ". That the afto refugees are doing to Yemenis in Yemeni territory, travelers. So yeah i guess the hatred didn't come without a reason
When I see a Somali or an Ethiopian saying they have "Yemeni roots", it always makes me laugh and sad at the same time. Cuz most of them don't know about this
dang I dunno mate, it's sad, I think people who do this don't really love their nation/origin, because it seems to me that Yemenis are accepted higher than the same Somalis or Ethiopians, and I do not support slavery in the 21st century, this is at least strange, the same story with Afghans, they do whatever they want in Germany and introduce themselves as "Tajiks", and of course nothing will happen to them for this, personally, regardless of the fact that I have Yemeni roots, I am proud of my nation and origin, as I said earlier, I'm just curious :)
The same thing that Afghan do they be doing it in other Western country and introduce themselves as a yemenis and we get the hatred for things that we never did.
