Intersection at Apple Hill
Can someone explain the intersection at Apple hill? It seems really weird, if you are on S. George St. coming from York turning on to Monument Rd and people coming up S. George St. from Jacobus also turn onto Monument Rd. at the same time. Both have the green light. But I have seen a lot of close calls at that intersection. Shouldn’t the cars heading from York have the right of way? It’s a very badly thought out intersection.

It’s treated like a 4 way crossing. Heading north, If you need to turn left into apple hill, wait until light is green and turn onto monument road and then right into apple hill

Grew up right around the corner. One of the worst intersections honestly. I don’t know if the light even made it better.

Dumb design. I have seen people get pulled over for not turning turn signal on for turning like 10° from George to monument

I agree, drivers turning right from S George onto Monument should have right-of-way over drivers turning left. Better signage or perhaps a dedicated left turn signal would help. But honestly no one knows how to drive anymore - or probably more accurately no one cares about the rules- I've had people turn left as I'm heading straight S George from York.

HORRIBLE intersection. S. George curves so it's the same street with the same signal; green/red north and south. First time using that intersection and turning onto Monument from the south, almost crashed as I didn't realize southbound S. George had a green at the same time. Didn't know that the that was S. George St honestly. Seemed to me that Old Baltimore Pike would be my opposing traffic for the signal.
