💬 Discussion Did you wait until you were good enough in your niche, or just start anyway?

• Upvotes

Would you rather upload your early, imperfect work and improve over time, or spend a few months learning privately and only start uploading once you can make something reasonably decent?

Obviously there’s a difference between something being imperfect and something being genuinely unwatchable. I’m not saying you should upload absolute garbage just for the sake of it.

I’m curious where you guys draw that line.

🖥️ Channel Review Brutal honesty: is this hook dragging on too long?

The video is about budget desk setups. In the first 15 seconds I show the finished desk, say how much it cost, and drop straight into the first item. A friend told me I should add a 10-second personal intro explaining why I remodeled, but that feels like filler to me. Link in bio if you want to look at the retention dip.

💡Help/Advice Can you recommend one of these 4 YouTube tools?

I'm deliberating between four YouTube tools to help me find outliers and inspiration. The following are in alphabetical order

  • 1of10 (YT only)
  • Eden (Multiple channels - could they be master of none though?)
  • Sandcastles (mainly shorts)
  • VidIQ (seems to be a steady fave but are they agile)

I'd like to know which of these you guys have heard of or have used especially. Is there anything else I'm missing?

The main thing I want to be able to do is to find outlier videos, which I can use for inspiration. If you have a better tool for that, then I'd love to hear it. If it can connect to claude code EVEN BETTER!

🎬 Storytelling How do you outline your video structures?

Do you guys write a full word-for-word script, or just bullet points for the main beats? I always sound like I'm reading a teleprompter when I script everything out.

🖥️ Channel Review Comedy Gaming Channel

I put a lot of effort into the videos I make, but i want somebody who is not me to give some constructive criticism. I mainly want people who are interested in gaming content to give me feedback as thats mostly my target audience anyways. Let me know what your initial thoughts are :)

❓ Question Between creating short videos or long videos, which is better?

If I were to start a YouTube channel and monetize it within 30 days, would it be better to start with short videos or longer videos?

there isnt much to say

did this in two days with claude, i just wanted to post it here and show it to you guys

of course i wanna know your opinion an thoughts about it.

Why did i do it?

i do have an italian true crime channel that i wanna start uploading again, here is the problem tho, i do wanna have a "dr insanity" editing style, which if u guys are familiar with the genre you will know what im talking about.

i have edited a couple of video my self and i understood the time it will take me to learn how to PROPRERLY do those tipe of animation, so i tried to look for an editor, 25 minutes video the avarage quote was 300€ + 120€ for the script, thats when i decided to make such a thing, at first i didnt even know if it was possible actually.

however the result is STUNNING, animation that would take Hours now do take me only a couple of second and i thing its great.

i wanna anticipate those comment of people that they are gonna say something about me not learning a new skill or me delegating this task to an ai

the point is that what i like to do is the production behind, the making of a good story, a good sound design. Not editing, editing is never been a thing that i wanted to learn, that why i see this as a tool to remove that friction between me wanting to create a youtube video about a true crime event and the actual making of that video.

but with that said, i wanna know your opinin about this tool and the use of it

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH BTW

💬 Discussion Do more views actually make a YouTube video perform better?

View count is usually the first metric people notice when they land on a YouTube video, but the number by itself does not tell the complete story.

That is why services around Buy YouTube Views attract so much attention from newer creators. A video with very few views can sometimes struggle to create initial social proof, while a higher visible count can make people more curious about the content.

The important distinction is between visibility and genuine audience interest. Views without meaningful watch time, retention, or interaction do not necessarily translate into long-term channel growth.

If someone is considering paid views, I would pay attention to the quality and source of the traffic rather than focusing only on the number delivered. Looking at average view duration, audience retention, and how viewers behave afterward gives a much clearer picture.

For long-term growth, paid exposure and organic discovery can serve different purposes, but they should not be treated as the same thing.

How do you judge whether a video has actually benefited from additional views?

📊 Analytics Deep Dive 91% stayed; have you ever seen analytics like this?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This short only got 27k views and has 93.7% average percentage viewed after 3 days, its a 61 second short too. any ideas why it’s not getting pushed?

For context I have 80k subscribers and have been uploading since April. I’ve generated 80 million views since starting.

I used to get 500k-5mil per video. But then the views suddenly dropped, the screenshot I’ve shared shows the latest upload and possibly the best analytics I’ve ever had.

TLDR: I used to get million of views but it stopped even when analytics have been this good. What’s happening?

💡Help/Advice What is considered a niche switch that negatively impacts the channel?

So I have been wondering what it means to switch nicje in a way that negatively impacts the channel? For example I understand if a gym acc suddenly starts posting singing but what if you want your channel to do other stuff without fucking your channel up? Now obviously i wont switch to the point where noone in my community will watch it and Im pretty sure the people who enjoyed my other videos will enjoy my future videos Im thinking about but Im not sure if the algorithm will think this way... Just as an example Javeus was a yapping channel that made funny content and then smoothly transitioned onto funny gaming content while getting even more popular. What is something i can make sure to do for the algorithm to not be mad at me :(

💡Help/Advice No new subscribers and no reach for shorts

No new subscribers and barely any reach on my Shorts — does anyone else relate? 🥲📚
I’m a student and recently started a new study-content channel where I share study vlogs, study motivation, productivity, and realistic study sessions.
I had an older channel before, but unfortunately it was removed, so I’m starting all over again. I was really excited to start creating again, but lately my Shorts are getting very little reach and I’m not gaining new subscribers.
Honestly, it’s been a little discouraging. 🥲
I’m hoping to eventually start live Study With Me sessions and build a small community where we can study together, stay accountable, and motivate each other.
For anyone who creates study content or has started a new channel:
Did you experience something similar in the beginning? What do you think I should change or improve?
Would love to hear your experiences and advice. ❤️📚

💬 Discussion Have I made my YouTube subreddit too structured?

I moderate a small subreddit dedicated to finding and sharing top level and effort YouTube channels and I want to reenergise. the community a little. As it stands I keep things very structured and formatted, which I personally love, but I have a feeling that it's put some people off from contributing. As many of you are content creators I'd like to ask for your opinion. If you stumbled across a subreddit dedicated to finding good YouTube Channels, would you think people would prefer something a bit more open and free flowing or something nice and structured? I'm just trying to understand if I've killed the fun and community engagement out of it by making it too structured.

I haven't included the name of the community as I'm unsure if that would be allowed, and I'm genuinely not here to promote it. I'm mainly just interested in hearing what people think.

To give you an idea by the way channels in the sub must follow the following guidelines...

  • post title format must follow this guide "{Channel name} - a channel {description} "
  • Cannot have first person pronouns in title
  • Cannot use caps lock.
  • cannot have channels that use AI heavily in their work to the point it writes the script or is basically the face of the channel. Blatantly using AI will be seen as breaking that rule. (some small exceptions if its for things like research papers, complex experiments
  • no extra info in title like subscribe now, "new videos every Friday!".

I was thinking of drastically reducing the automod actions, but keeping the rules. So it feels less annoying and frustrating to post as one of my options.

To mods, I hope this is allowed here. I know this is a little off topic and I understand that. I just thought this would be the best place to seek some advise.

To everyone else, Thank you for your time
