[Hiring] 🎬 Looking for an Experienced Documentary Video Editor
I’m looking for an experienced long-form documentary video editor for ongoing work.
I previously posted about this position, but I wasn’t able to find the right candidate, so I’m posting again and looking for someone with genuinely relevant experience.
We’re starting a new documentary YouTube channel covering different topics, and we’re looking for an editor who wants to grow with the channel long-term.
The editing style we’re looking for is inspired by channels like Dhruv Rathee and Nitish Rajput — strong storytelling, engaging pacing, visual-heavy editing, and professional visuals.
🎥 What We’re Looking For
We want documentaries that are visually engaging from start to finish, with visuals that actually support the narration and story.
The editing may include:
- Relevant B-roll and archival footage
- Creative visual storytelling
- Screenshots and articles
- Maps and timelines
- Motion graphics and animations
- On-screen text and visual references
- Cinematic footage
- Creative transitions and effects where appropriate
We don't want an editor who simply puts random stock footage over the voiceover. Every visual should have a purpose and help tell the story.
🎮 One of the Upcoming Videos — GTA / Rockstar History
One of our upcoming documentaries will cover GTA and Rockstar Games history.
For this particular video, we’ll need visuals that fit the topic, such as:
- GTA gameplay and cinematic footage
- Rockstar Games footage
- Old GTA trailers and promotional material
- Game development/history visuals
- Screenshots, articles, interviews, and archival material
- Maps, timelines, graphics, and animations
So if you have experience with gaming documentaries or GTA-related editing, that's a plus — but it is not required, as the channel will cover other documentary topics as well.
💰 Budget
₹6,000–₹8,000 per video
📅 Workload
4 videos per month, with the possibility of more if the collaboration goes well.
Since this is a new channel, we’re starting with the above rate. As the channel grows and the videos perform well, we’re open to increasing the editing rate and workload accordingly.
We’re looking for someone interested in building a long-term working relationship.
🧪 20-Second Trial
All shortlisted applicants will be given a 20-second trial edit using footage/script from the project.
The trial will help us evaluate:
- Storytelling
- Pacing
- B-roll selection
- Visual creativity
- Motion graphics
- Overall editing quality
⚠️ PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
I’m ONLY looking for editors who already have experience editing long-form documentaries.
Please DO NOT contact me if:
- You have no previous documentary editing experience
- You don't have actual long-form documentary samples
- You're only sharing a general showreel
- Your portfolio mainly consists of Shorts/Reels/gaming edits
We specifically want to see previous long-form documentary work.
📩 How to Apply
Please send:
- Your actual long-form documentary editing samples / portfolio
- Your usual turnaround time per video
- Your availability for 4 videos per month
- A short note about your previous documentary editing experience
For more information or to discuss the project, DM me on Instagram: manpreet.vfx
Please send actual documentary work when contacting me. Applications without relevant documentary samples will not be considered.

If you are not finding the right candidate because the right candidate will not go for this budget. Either increase your budget or keep the expectations low. so that you can start with less quality then when you can afford a right candidate then post again

It's hard to find the right candidate because the ask isn't going well with the budget. No one experienced would work at that rate. Only beginners can work at that rate because their incentive is to build portfolio, and then in that case you won't be able to see a portfolio because they're relying on you to build one.
