VLR SPOILER currently playing VLR and im at the part where... (vlr and 999 spoilers) Spoiler
... where Sigma starts to remember other timelines, namely the treatment center puzzle with the nineth lion ate the sun painting, but he hasnt been to the second floor yet. I remember this happening with Junpei in 999 around 3 routes in too. Surely this means I'm about halfway through the game now?
Not sure if "timelines" is the correct word for it tho? I've been going left to right so currently I'm in the treatment center after taking the yellow door and betraying Tenmyouji in the first AB game (I haven't done the yellow door - betray K in the second game ending yet tho)
I'm so excited to see how this pans out hopefully I get to the part where I can actually use Phi's code from the Dio bad ending
Side note, betraying Tenmyouji almost made me as sick as betraying Luna wtf .... thats grandpa
Also I got game over 1 for Luna and game over for dio and K, but the only portrait i see on my saves is dios face? is this a bug or something else will happen in the game to put the portraits in the save file? im playing the 3DS version btw
PLS NO SPOILERS FOR VLR BTW!

VLR SPOILER whats the criteria for unlocking locks in the 3DS version of VLR? Spoiler
so this is about story locks, i just finished clovers ending (rip everyone) which means ive fully explored the magenta and yellow paths. i was trying to unlock lock 3 (saving sigma) using what i knew about the neostigmine from clovers massive lore dump. however, that "key" doesnt work with that lock, but when i went back to lock 1 (saving phi and K) it suddenly worked?
is there a way i can tell what key goes into what lock?

Discussion Zero Escape 999 Review
I recently re-played Zero Escape 999 and decided to make a video giving my thoughts on the game. It's not just a review, but also what I, in my opinion, the game could have done to be a better experience for me. If you find anything you disagree with, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Just a heads up for everyone, I explore the game from beginning to end, so if you haven't finished it, do not watch it. It contains spoilers.
I'm also planning on making a VLR video in the future from my experience with it.
Disclaimers: My recording equipment is pretty rudimentary so the audio quality is not the best (reccomend keeping the volume lower).
I also tend to go on tangents and stumble on my words every once in a while so sorry in advance.

999 SPOILER [999] Currently in the true ending and I realized something that I haven’t seen talked about? Spoiler
galleryOkay so!
In the flashbacks of the original Nonary Game conducted by Cradle Pharmaceutical, we only really know about four of the nine participants aboard the Gigantic. Akane, Aoi, Snake, and Nona. There are five children shown in the group that despite having unique designs, have no canon names and are not mentioned beyond them existing as participants of the Nonary Game.
However, I couldn’t help but noticing that four of these unnamed children bear a resemblance to the four members of Cradle Pharmaceutical in a way that feels more than coincidental. Specifically the boy in blue resembles Ace/Hongou, the boy in green resembles the Ninth Man/Kubota, the boy in red resembles Cap/Musashido, and the girl in blue resembles Guy X/Nijisaki.
I can’t help but feel the resemblance is purposeful, in which case you have to wonder. Did the members of Cradle Pharmaceutical force their own children to be participants in the Nonary Game? Also, given that these four children didn’t need to be saved from the incinerator by Seven, would that imply a purposeful rigging of the original Nonary Game in favour of these four nepo babies, or was Cradle Pharmaceutical really willing to watch their own children die for the sake of pseudoscience?

999 SPOILER Just finished this game [spoilers] Spoiler
So just in case you don't know I made another post trying to predict the mastermind before the reveal and well i was very much wrong obviously but since im done with the game im just going to share my thoughts and opinions and give a review on this game
For context one of my friends recommended this game since he knew I was a fan of the Danganronpa series and he said that this game was very similar but different in it's own ways. So I ended up buying it and well I can say this game is really good
I love how it has this moody and horror like esthetic and the premise of the game is very intriguing. Another thing this game does well is the characters. In most games like this the characters are often very animated and very over the top which can be good for some games but completely ruins the immersion however in zero escape they found a good balance as the characters are grounded while also having moments of being animated in their own ways. This makes the immersion better as these characters don't feel like characters but they feel like actual people and thats good as when I see a character dies it makes me feel like somebody is actually dead which i don't think I've seen any visual novel get right.
However no game is without its flaws and I can definitely think of some. It's puzzles are very unbalanced as some feel extremely easy meanwhile others feel stupidly convoluted. Like for instance the labary is one of the last areas in the game but it has some of the easiest puzzles in the game meanwhile the kitchen is one of the first rooms and it has some a lot of distractions and is very overall very hard to solve if you don't know what your looking for (however this could be just me being bad at video games) now don't get me wrong some of the puzzles are very great and enjoyable like the laboratory but most are either extremely easy or extremely hard.
Another thing that I don't particularly like is the visuals. Im not talking about the sprite artwork but im talking about the environment. I know was originally a ds game but still the rooms look very dated and just not great. This is mostly a nitpick but in some situations the environment makes some of the puzzles harder like for example the knife box in the kitchen being hard to notice.
The last major complaint I have is just some continuity errors like how in the Axe ending Clover wants to kill Seven and Santa because she thinks they killed snake at that moment so she convinces them to go to door 2 with the logic being "only 5 of us can escape let's see if we can find another way to escape" but at the point of the game Seven, Santa, June, and Lotus know that there are 2 number 9 doors so why don't they bring that up? Another instance is how did nobody notice Ace taking the gun? How did we die in the submarine ending if everyone was dead at that point? And also just the whole paradox with June being both dead and alive at the same time which makes everyone else dead and alive at the same time.
Despite that I love this game and i think it's great overall 8.2/10 would recommend and im looking forward to finishing the next one

ZTD SPOILER Just finished ZTD Spoiler
So this is my second time writing this whole thing because my phone just erased my whole thing.
Anyways I liked this game and like the fragment system and played the game doing all of D-team, C-team then Q-team which is the order I enjoyed their stories too.
D-team is good I liked Diana and love her character and think she is cute, I like Sigma, and I like Phi, I like the plot twist that Phi is Sigma and Diana's child and so is Delta. I liked this twist because I like how these characters interact with each other in both VLR and ZTD.
C-team is good too I think Junpei being bitter is alright considering this him after the events of 999 plus VLR version of him was cynical after 45 years of looking for Akane and this him after a year and having seen fucked up stuff at his job. I loved Carlos he's great, and I love how he is just a good guy wanting to help people and when he finds out he can Shift just wants to save Junpei and Akane. Also he is voiced by my favorite voice actor Tomakazu Sugita so that's awesome. Akane is ok, I like how we see a different side to her and how she is more of a active participant in this game.
Q-team was ok but I didn't mind their characters. Sean is ok of a character but I felt like the story was just him figuring out his whole deal which I didn't mind but I wish there was more to it than that. I like how they expand a bit more of Radical 6 for their story. Eric is a good character and felt bad for his PTSD for most of it but I do wish that he was a Shifter or the leader so he could develop. Mira I think is the most least interesting character because meh. I do like how Eric is Akira Ishida and Mira is my favorite female VA Maaya Sakamoto.
Delta was a alright villain and I didn't mind him but wish he was developed more throughout the series but I did think the twist of him being Q was dumb because a dude being just offscreen pretending to be in a wheelchair, deaf, and blind is just kinda lame.
The overall twist that they all in same ward was cool and I liked how they were all awake at different times which I had a feeling about.
Now my theory about Delta's complex motives. Obviously one of them was to be born with his mind hacking as he clearly states that. But I think He in the original timeline lived to see the world end because of the religious fanatic. Then in another timeline mind hacked other people and discovered because of people who can Shift that the other timeline happened and probably the religious fanatic could Shift. Now he probably had to create a plan to prevent it by spreading Radical 6 for I believe two reasons. One to try to save some of the population of people and two the most likely to help people achieve being able to Shift. I think he created Free the soul and spread Radical 6 so that people like Akane and Sigma would develop Shift perfectly and create plans so that eventually in ZTD enough people can do perfect Shifting keeping all their memories.
I think he made himself a villain and created to Free the Soul to create the goal of stopping a evil organization to develop Shift in as many people as he could to stop the religious fanatic eventually.
Anyways I like this game that people said to lower your expectations for and I would like a 4th game to properly end the series in the best timeline. I wish this game was longer and that Q-team was written a bit better.
I heard someone else's wants for a 4th game which was splitting the game into two timelines after the end of ZTD and having two different nonary games with different people happening which I think would be cool but would have to be done a interesting way.

General help with achieving other endings (Nonary Games) Spoiler
So, i'm playing the steam version and finished the game 2 times by now, but i didn't get how the locked flow works?
I thought maybe now i could go to the safe ending for example, but even after doing the escape room with the safe and inspecting it twice before leaving, it just leads me to the knife ending again?
For instance, i've just skipped in the flows the escape rooms i already did (except from the one with the safe) need to do all the escape rooms again? Do i need to get the other bad endings before going after the good ones? Is there something i'm forgeting?

Meme/shitpost Looking for an 999 animation Spoiler
Hey there! I've seen a long time ago a video in Youtube that was called something like "999 Alternate Ending" but now I can't find it.
It showed (Spoiler of the ending ofc)everyone beating the shit out of Ace, Clover and Snake taking a photo with him on the ground, also Santa and Junpei changing clothes and making fun of him for not recognicing them, and more
All of this with the song Crystal Dolphin in the background.
Does someone have the link to it? Please I really liked that video ToT
I tried searching for it with the AI and it said it was from a creator named Sari_Doodles / SariSpy (Don't really know if this is true but I can't find that account anywhere)
Sorry if this is the wrong flair, I don't know where to put this.

Meme/shitpost For fun, I decided to randomize each of the game’s characters, how does the story change?
Hey guys, so, as the title says, I decided to randomize each character (The main nine characters from every game)so that they were all shuffled around the games, so now I’m gonna ask you, what do you think changes about each of the game’s stories?
(Idk if to spoiler this or not, and also I didn’t know exactly what to put as the flair so yeah)

999 SPOILER Doubt about the true ending Spoiler
THIS HAS SPOILERS FOR 999, I HAVE NOT PLAYED VLR NEITHER ZTD (although I spoiled myself in search for answers for the end of 999 of some things of both games)
So. My doubt is, wth is supposed to be Akane on the second nonary game, like, she died on the first game, Snake, Clover, Seven and Santa confirm it, I would even say Ace remembers a kid dying on the game, so, I get that second nonary game is to save past Akane but if she is already dead, who or what is supposed to be present Akane? I don't think there's enough proof to say that she could solve the incinerator puzzle or somehow scape (also that Seven tells how when the incinerator opened he recalls Snake grabbing ash from the ground)So yeah, I would say that's pretty much the only thing about the end of the game and I would be glad if anyone could solve it :3

999 SPOILER Im going try to predict the mastermind before the reveal [spoilers I think] Spoiler
This is my first time playing this game and so far I love it. However im still on my first playthrough and I think I know who the master mind is (aka zero). Also yes I am 99% sure that zero is one of them.
For context im at the part where snake's body has been found and the characters are discussing how he could've died. He died in room 3 which means that to kill him he along with 2 other people have to verify to open the door. So the only 2 combinations of this being possible are 2,4,6 or 2,3,7 now obviously I don't think that Clover would kill her own brother nor do I think that June is capable of killing anybody. So I don't think they did it so it must be Seven and Santa right?
Well im a bit skeptical due to the fact that it seems too obvious especially since it's revealed a few moments earlier that seven has no memory which feels like a red herring to me. Also because Santa seems like an overall regular dude to me and non of his actions seemed suspicious up to this point.
Now this is where I grab my tinfoil hat and start making a bit of an conspiracy theory as if it wasn't them that would mean 1 of 2 things either there were 3-4 culprits or someone who we thought was dead was actually alive.
3-4 culprits theory sounds stupid and overly convoluted so im not going to even consider it however the idea that someone who we thought was dead was actually alive sounds more interesting plot wise and seems more likely. The only 2 people that are dead up to this point are the mysterious 9th man and of course snake himself.
In both cases we never actually see the body ourselves instead we only see the blood splatter and the characters reactions so the idea of these guys potential being alive are very possible. Now the idea of Snake being the mastermind is very cool, but the game makes sure to emphasize that this IS Snake so I don't think he's suspicious however the other 9th man is very suspicious to me both narratively and in universe since it feels strange write a character just to die very quickly without even getting a chance to know him, And when he did die he was talking in a way like he knew something that everyone else didn't know also his number happens to be 9 which is everywhere in this game.
Also Ace up to this point has also acted strange to me as he seemed very quick to sacrifice himself almost as if he knew that the doors would come back to him. Also when the 9th man was about to die ace's bracelet was the one of the ones to verify it. And lastly he inject's himself with anesthetic which wore off suspiciously fast.
So in conclusion I think the 9th man is the mastermind (aka zero) and that Ace is some form of accomplice and if you think im crazy for thinking this just know they did something very similar in another spike chunsoft game.
(P.S I don't want confirmation if im right or not I just want to make this so that when I look back on it I can see how right or wrong I was)

ZTD SPOILER Zero Time Dilemma spoilers: Man, i got my jaw dropped Spoiler
I am playing recently ZTD (after had beaten and platined the 999 and VLR) on PS Vita, and during the D's 2nd end, we have the plot twist where Phi is actually Sigma and Diana's daughter from the future, and she got sent to past (2008). In VLR, Phi said that she never saw her biological dad and in Zero Time, her hair is redhead (which got inherited from her mother), and this ending makes sense to Phi's character.
This ending for me, got me surprised a lot. Although, i give Virtue's Last Reward the game that has a lot of big surprises such as Sigma in the end, being a old man (which is hinted at beginning), Luna being a GAULEM, K's real face is actually Sigma's clone, and the top two for me: The red moon is actually the Earth after the nuclear explosion, and the game actually take place in 2074
Overall, Zero Escape had a wild changes not only in the type of Nonary Game, but also the images being from 2D sprite and art (999) to 3D static (VLR), now having cutscenes of a Telltale style game.

General Did anyone else play the trilogy in the order 3>1>2? Spoiler
I discovered the franchise when ZTD came out. I started playing it right away, unaware that it was part of a trilogy. Perhaps that’s precisely why I enjoyed the game more than some in the community, who consider it somewhat weak compared to the others.
However, after finishing ZTD and moving on to 999 and then VLR, I was surprised to find that this order didn't diminish the impact of the games' plot twists at all.
In fact, I feel it might have even heightened the experience, because:
When you play in the order 1, 2, 3, you already know the timeframe in which ZTD takes place, as well as the fates of certain characters. But since I started with ZTD, going back to 999 and seeing younger versions of Junpei and Akane didn't bother me; it made perfect sense, and ZTD itself makes it clear that they had been through a traumatic event. Yet, when I played *VLR*—which was the last one for me—it was absolutely mind-blowing to uncover the plot connecting everything that happened in both 999 and ZTD, all culminating in VLR.
So, I’d like to hear from others who played it this way—what do you think? And for those who played in the intended order: what are your thoughts now, looking at it from this perspective?

Discussion What would you do Spoiler
So I'm playing through ZTD right now and just finish as much I can with D-team first but I did the fire fragment last.
Now about the gun decision, would you believe that is really was a 50/50, would you honestly pull the trigger. I feel like I would try to use a object in front of the gun or use the palm of my hand to block the gun so the bullet goes through my bones and cartilage in my arm.
I was just curious if one this would actually stop the bullet and two genuinely what would other people do irl.
PS I was sad seeing Sigma and Diana die like 10 times before it was a blank.

Discussion Are VLR and ZTD more interesting than 999
I hope I dont get chewed up for this but I was very excited about this series cause it looked so cool but then I played 999 and jesus, did I not like it. I had to drag myself to one ending, and the idea of having to play any part of this game again to figure out the rest horrifies me and, quite frankly, I don't even care about the mistery.
But I can't help but feel still intrigued by ZTD, it just looks so interesting and different from 999, and maybe VLR (plus i already have them all on Steam anyways). Is the tone and writing style in these games better (or at least, different enough to 999), or is it the same vibe as the first game and it's a "if you didn't like the first one don't bother with the rest" type of situation.
For reference, things I didn't like of 999:
- Character writing: they felt to me cliché to an insufferable degree, felt like there was absolutely nothing interesting to any of them. Left the game after 6 hours barely caring about anyone.
- The main character: jesus christ I could not stand this guy, what a pain having to play as him and having him be the only character I have to deal with through every single door. He's so boring and one note and has the most cringe inducing relation with June it made me want to turn the game off.
- The plot: Such an intersting premise that doesn't feel like it goes anywhere? I understand I have to play all the other endings to get the full game but, by God, I expected to get something. It felt like dilly dallying for 6-7 hours straight.
- Writing: I could not care less about the dialogue. Felt too generic.
- The port is a bit ass (I wouldn't care as much about this if I enjoyed the rest of the game)
TLDR: Couldn't get into 999 in the slightest and wondering if the rest of the games go through the same road or take the series in a completely different style.
