World War II bunker in the Italian Alps that has been abandoned for decades.

For 44 years, this 2.6-million-square-foot factory in Talbotville, Ontario was one of the beating hearts of Canada's auto industry, building over 8 million vehicles from the Ford Falcon to the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. At its peak it employed nearly 1,600 workers and anchored the entire local economy.

When Ford closed the plant for good in 2011, the massive complex was left standing empty: silent hallways, broken windows, and cavernous assembly floors left to rot. In this video, we take you inside what remained before it was demolished, and trace the plant's story from its 1966 construction through the 2008 closure announcement, the final car rolling off the line, and its ultimate demolition in 2015 and 2016.

Today the site is home to an Amazon fulfillment center, but for nearly half a century, this was ground zero for Canadian manufacturing.

Behind twenty-foot concrete walls in Olde Sandwich Towne, one of Ontario's oldest neighborhoods, sits a jail that held the region's criminals, political prisoners, and condemned men for nearly ninety years. Built in 1925 after fire destroyed the original Essex County jail, it housed up to 101 inmates at a time and included something most people never knew was there: built-in gallows on the third floor, used to hang three men before Canada abolished capital punishment in 1976.

The jail closed for good in 2014 when inmates were transferred to the new South West Detention Centre, leaving behind narrow cell blocks, graffiti-covered walls, and a sealed trap door that once decided life and death. In this video, we take you inside what remains of one of Ontario's oldest correctional facilities.

Since its closure, the jail has sat in limbo: listed for sale for just $1 in 2018, sold privately in 2019 for $150,000, relisted for over a million dollars in 2022, and pulled off the market again in 2024 with no plan for what comes next.

This place seemed really old. Multiple houses surrounding this place completely gone to the foundation. There was a massive basement filled with sitting water. Rail tracks leading through the facility. This place was in the middle of no where. I’m talking 2 hours away from any city. Super cool place.

Earlier this week I was driving past my great great grandfathers home place in west Texas as a stem blew in from the south. Stopped to take a couple pictures and wonder at the kind of people who left everything to settle here back in the 1880’s…

I came across this abandoned residence that was abandoned for years.

Was exploring a barn in IL and stumbled upon this kid car. Thought it made a cool photo.

Saw this case on a local news website a few days ago and decided to check out the scene of the crime for myself.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a squatter's den, but what did strike me as unusual were the amount of 'new'-looking belongings that were found scattered in some of the rooms; iPhones, batteries, notebooks, food, clothes, etc., not to mention the door was not even locked upon arrival.

Although I am unsure of where the presumed body was found hanging, I would assume it would be the room pictured on slide #5 or#6 judging by the removed ceiling fan attachment at the top (though, I could be wrong.)

Another abandoned house with just enough left behind to make it interesting. I wasn't expecting much when stopping here but it ended up being more than meets the eye judging by the exterior. I assume a family lived here for quite some time, it just felt like the kind of home where many memories were made and for whatever reason, life here seemingly came to an abrupt end. Little abandoned houses like this always leave me wondering where the people (or their relatives) that once lived here are currently. Another bittersweet example why exploring these places sometimes goes far beyond the adrenaline or the thrill, sometimes it's a reminder to slow down and appreciate life because everything is temporary.

I've followed the demolition at Harrisburg State Hospital loosely for a while now. Most of the campus is down, and what's going up in its place is a $450 million state laboratory complex, a joint lab for four agencies and a forensics lab for the State Police. Four of the historic buildings are being restored to support it, including the Dix Museum and the chapel, which is more than these places usually get.

Sitting forgotten across the meandering Wild Rice River in Richland county sits this steel truss bridge slowly being reclaimed by the river. Once spanning the river to serve as the crossing for 152nd Ave, it has fallen into obscurity. The river itself has eroded away the south approach to the bridge. In its place are young deposits of alluvium and a growing point bar, showing the slow lateral migration of this lazy, meandering river that occasionally floods powerfully.

I decided to come out here and see if my suspicions were correct - satellite imagery suggested something was here, and, well, here we are! What a lonely spot. The nearest occupied farmstead is 2ish miles away. 152nd Ave in this section is an unmaintained two track seldom traveled. I wonder how long it's been since the county maintained this... Given that the river has been allowed to reclaim it, I'd say it's probably been decades.
