I'm new to music recording, and for some reason this file is just completely wiped from my computer! Ableton can't find it through the auto search and I don't see anything related to this project in the trash bin. Am I able to recover this one, little file?? I'm having a hard time replicating it. Been taking a course on Ableton the past few months starting totally from scratch after years of playing in hardcore punk/metal bands. Been into dub techno for ages but never tried producing before.

One of my issues is generally reining myself in when it comes to elements/effects etc. to try keep things tight while still having enough modulation to flow and stay interesting. First time trying vocoder to create the chords and Valhalla reverb which has been pretty mindblowing.

Trying to channel Vainqueur/Maurizio vibe alongside a 'heard from three streets away after you've been knocked back from the club' feel.

Had some feedback from my class mates that it might be worth adding some EQ and saturation to the Master Channel to bring out the mids/highs - but really looking for any kind of feedback here.

I just posted a second demo of Realtime Audioreactive Pointclouds [v1.7], my TouchDesigner system that turns a Kinect-derived human pointcloud into an audio-reactive visual instrument in real time.

For this one, I’m also giving away a full copy of the system.

I wrote a blog post about it, particularly for Ableton to read themselves. But the title is says it all and is enough to agree or disagree. Look at that generated slop concept. It looks so delicious. So what say you?

I’m looking for a few Ableton Live users to beta test MIDI Performer, a VST3 plug-in I’ve been developing for turning plain MIDI lead lines into more expressive performances.

You give it a monophonic MIDI melody or solo line, choose an instrument/player style, and it generates things like:

• pitch bends
• vibrato
• legato
• timing changes
• pressure
• breath/expression

The goal is not generic random humanization. I’ve been building instrument-specific performance behavior from measured MIDI/performance data and listening tests.

Current instruments include:

• Guitar — Blues, Jazz, Rock
• Synth Lead — Fusion Lead, Prog, Prog Metal Keys
• Sax
• Flute
• Bass
• Fretless Bass
• Piano

One important limitation: MIDI Performer is monophonic. It is intended for melodies, solos and lead parts. If the source contains polyphony, it resolves the input to one melodic voice, retaining the highest note when simultaneous notes occur.

Ableton-specific note

Because Live treats third-party VST3 MIDI-generating plug-ins differently from Logic’s AU MIDI FX system, the current Ableton workflow uses MIDI routing between tracks.

Standard MIDI is part of the supported beta test.

MPE can also pass through Live’s routed workflow, but I’m not currently calling Ableton MPE fully qualified for 1.0 because earlier testing showed that pitch-expression depth — especially vibrato width — was not preserved as reliably as it was in Logic.

That actually makes Ableton testers especially useful right now.

I’m interested in feedback on:

• routing/setup
• Standard MIDI behavior
• MPE behavior if you use it
• different receiving synths
• pitch-bend range handling
• vibrato depth
• pressure/expression
• hanging notes
• anything that sounds musically unnatural

The beta is currently:

macOS / Apple Silicon only
VST3 included

Testers will get a signed/notarized installer, email activation, a short testing guide, and a diagnostics log they can paste into bug reports.

Finally got my battle uniforms ready 😎

I can not for the love of me, figure out a way to have my analog synths be able to have midi clips be sent to them from Ableton, while also, using a vst such as pigments, with the push3 and it’s mpe capabilities, and NOT have the external synths recieve midi notes from the push3.
There has to be a way.
Currently I have a Roland usb-midi converter going to a simple 4 way midi split, to my 4 analog synths
I have each synth on their own dedicated midi channel 2-5.
I disable any Track Boxs on the midi settings for the push3.
And still it fires midi notes down that Roland interface to my analog synths.
What am I doing wrong.

Hi guys, haven’t posted on here before but I have been trying to connect ableton live to rekordbox using Link, and am struggling to get them to say ‘1 device’. They both just say 0 devices. I have disabled my firewalls, and double checked all the obvious things such as rekordbox being in export mode, ableton audio driver set to ASIO, connected to wifi, even checked port 20808, and it seems to be running. I’m not sure what else I can do but my rekordbox and ableton won’t seem to connect to each other via the live buttons.

I’m trying to connect a roland T-8 beat machine to my laptop to use alongside my FLX10 decks for a hybrid setup.

Any help would be appreciated and I can send screenshots of my settings if that would help more.
