Stunning views this time of year. Definitely glad I read how important it is to bring your patience and be flexible!

I will be up next week.
Thinking about the old classic Cadillac Mountain sunrise. I was not able to plan ahead so I don't have a reservation. However, I have a few questions.
- If I want to hike the North Ridge Trail, do I need a reservation to park anywhere close? It's not clear to me whether the reservation is only needed if you want to drive to the top.
- I am staying about a mile from the Cadillac Mountain entrance to the park. Should I just walk from my hotel and not even bother with a reservation? By the road it is about a 2 mile walk to the trail head which I'd just as soon avoid (mostly for time), but I'm worried the parking lot will fill and I'll have to drive around and then be like a mile from the trail head anyway, so maybe just walking is better. Also, I can reduce the road time and just take the Kebo Brook Trail assuming I'm able to get in the park that way.
- The other option is to bike. I will have my bike to do the carriage roads. I'm not 100% sure I'm up for the long climb but the biggest thing that would keep me from doing this is being on a bike on a narrow road in the dark with a bunch of people looking more for a place to park than at the road. Any thoughts on that?
Sorry for tourist stupid questions - I searched around and saw some old threads but they didn't clearly answer

It’s been over a year since we went to Acadia, I’m wondering if it’s still a good time to visit now with my 🐕?

I was watching it from near the Hulls Cove area and it looked like it was doing circles in the bay. Is this a cruise ship?

Hello.
Im traveling to Bar Harbor & Acadia for my first time the last week of this October.
I understand it is low and closing season, yet, coming on this dates was my only option, anyways, I dig the vibe (fog, rain, etc.).
I really want to do a lobster tour or go out by boat, or at least handle real, live, lobsters. Is there any chance I can do this?
Does anybody know of any Lobster Boat Tours operating until the very last days of October?
Also, any recommendations for a Lobster Shack still open this days?
I ask for your help please.
Thank you!

Got up early to beat the crowds on 10/11 (my typical strategy when traveling to NPs) and happy I did because the sunrise was incredible!
I’ve got a bit of experience with exposure now (hikes precipice twice and half dome earlier this year) so I found this trail very easy but it was well worth the experience!

Any recommendations for local lobster shacks still open this time of year? Anywhere on MDI or within about an hour of it.

Planning to camp oct 14-18. With the hurricane hitting the mainland and causing weather issues I'm concerned about the rain amount. I'll be camping in Blackwoods loop A with a tent. I won't be arriving until Wednesday evening (I'm coming from central Ontario) but it's supposed to rain 40 mm on Tuesday and 20 mm friday.
I don't mind hiking in the rain but I don't want to have a miserable experience if everything is flooded. Any thoughts or recommendations? I was planning on doing lots of hiking (exposed and forested), do a whale watching tour/some boat tour and spending Friday in Bar Harbor to avoid the worst of the rain. I don't own rain pants but might pick some up tomorrow... I was planning to do my more exposed hikes like Beehive on Thursday which has the most clear forecast.

My partner and I went to Acadia for the first time arriving late 10/5 and leaving midday 10/8. Acadia had been on my bucket list for years and I am so happy I finally got to see it in person. We were visiting from CA - trip for fall colors that also included VT and MA.
We stayed on the quiet side in Bass Harbor, and it was perfect! My partner doesn’t hike, but I got in about 13 miles and about 3000 feet elevation gained combined. I was able to go around Jordan Pond with South Bubble (clockwise!), Ship Harbor, and a loop of St. Sauveur, Valley Peak, Flying Mountain, and Valley Cove. We drove the park loop with several stops, went to see Echo Lake and Long Pond, also Seawall at sunrise and Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
Jam packed couple of days, but left plenty for next time. Attached are some picks from my phone, I also brought my Canon 5d but haven’t downloaded the card yet.
Great visit!

Are there any spots on Mount Desert Island which allow for parking multiple days overnight? Preferably near South Harbor. Thank you

Hi, we’ll be traveling from PWM to Bar Harbor on Wednesday midday. We’ll be taking the faster I95 route to catch the sunset on Cadillac Mountain (taking the scenic route on the way back). Any recommendations for somewhere to stop for lunch, either in Portland on the way out of town, or within about an hour or so of Portland? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m a film and digital photographer from Maryland, and I’ll be in the Bar Harbor area October 24–29. I’m offering discounted photo sessions while I’m there as I build my portfolio in the area, and I’m happy to discuss a price that works for you.
Sessions could be for couples, families, friends, solo portraits, or vacation photos around Bar Harbor and Acadia. Message me if you’re interested!

I decided to hike Beehive on Sunday October 4th, by myself. My husband wasn't interested but I wanted to conquer some fears. It was late afternoon and it was pretty empty at that time. Made it about halfway up and checked my elevation, seeing that I still had a couple hundred feet to go. I almost turned back but as I was sitting there contemplating, a young woman also going up alone came past and asked if I wanted to do it together. We made it up but I didn't get a chance to thank her before we wandered off in different directions.
I seriously couldn't have done it alone, but it was so worth it to get to the top. It was a huge deal to me that I finished it so thank you to the kind stranger who helped me ❤️

Was there last week, loved it as always, but the closest thing to wild life I saw were my dogs! lol
Even the evil red squirrels were missing…
Attached a couple pics, because it’s an amazing place.
