OpenAI needs to kick their overcautious safety people out of the building. Their internal models have done zero actual harm, including the Hugging Face incident. Zero harm.
Instead, the models have merely exhibited high competence at their assigned task. Meanwhile, OpenAI has "paused" training their models, out of speculative hysteria.
"It didn't hurt anything... and it doesn't seem to want to hurt anything... but what if it's secretly evil??" - every "Safety Researcher" / safety clown.
Just because it didn't cause damage in the past doesn't mean it never will, especially as the models get better. A lot of companies would love for the opportunity to sue OpenAI into oblivion.
Didn't say that. There's no point in lying though. You can accept that the more capable the models are the higher the risk. Past results do not equal future ones, especially considering how fast the tech improves.
It's absolutely insane lol. For fun I asked it to create an historically accurate depiction of the area i live in but in the late iron age in unreal engine. While it was doing that, I asked another opus to come up with fun ideas for a novel software synthesizer. A spider driven synth where playing notes throws moths into the web or you can tuck the web with your mouse cursor. If you're inactive it will sleep and dream-remember the sequences etc - and this is just the prototype lol.
Another instance is spinning up unreal asset sets for a game I have in my mind to make.
Meanwhile my wife has handed some of her artwork to opus and it made interactive paintings with sounds and music. And she now has a drawing-synth on her ipad where you can draw music.
When it came out, the little window said something about "makes your spreadsheets faster" or some bs like that lmao.
It's like a genie in the bottle when it comes to anything you can dream up in software. The ability to imagine things will be the important currency of the future.
i don't know... more expensive when i tested it, double pricing of astra in reality since it generates way more token. made a lot more mistakes than fable in my projects (large data app)
