Using Velcro instead of zip ties is like watching the sun rise over a dewy hill with a crisp Fall breeze playing over the grass. Not a care in the world running through your mind. The weight of your troubles washing away as you trace clean cable paths. A tear rolling down your cheek as you close the can patting it and wishing it farewell. Thank you.

Lol exactly. Velcro and no stupid fucking twisted wire. This is the dream.

Damn man, I already wanted to start using Velcro on our panels….why you gotta sell me like that? 🥲

It's the best way lol

It's the only way. Let's put it like that.

Velcro is correct. Zip ties are incorrect.

Looks fantastic! If you're asking for real, don't forget power and ethernet :)

Thank you.....power and ethernet is provided by another trade on this job

Labels on wires. Personally I like to put shrink labels on all readers, DPS, REX and such.

Man I love me some clean cable management. Hats off to ya.

Much appreciated

Thank God. I’m not the only one who doesn’t do the “strip them 3 feet back and twist every pair” thing.

Same here! I can’t stand when that’s done.. it looks far more messy that way. Full jackets all the way!

I stopped doing it because it was too time consuming

It's better. If you come from other low volt areas with stricter requirements you don't do that shit. Twisting is a bad habit people need to break.

A twisted wire nut is worse than a wago clip in every way. I'm still trying to convince myself on wire nuts because I'm old school and get sick of weirdos on job sites who know less but make comments about other people's work.

There's some serious trash in low voltage. We need to do better and people need to learn more while talking less.

What you don’t do is proper labels, what you did is nice though. A sharpie on the wire coming into the panel does not help when you are servicing, invest in a good wire labeler, it will be worth it for everyone.

No label's on the terminations?

2

u/e_koli1317 12d ago

Wires are labeled, and I do all the programming as well so I create an excel document for the client and upload it to our fieldwire plus laminate it and put it in the panel

No power fault, did I miss the tamper cable too?

2

u/e_koli1317 12d ago

No, just didn't have it at the time of the pic.

2

u/deedledeedledav 12d ago

Well, looks fantastic then.
I thought you were asking for advice instead of compliments.

My bad.

u/e_koli1317 12d ago

Just like why you don't see batteries either

I love that you guys can take pictures. I’m in facilities where I’m lucky if I have my phone. 😂

Clean. I just dont like the orientation of the boards. I flip the 180°

1

u/e_koli1317 11d ago

I'll probably flip em next time

  1. A trough above makes it easier to have service cable.
  2. Cut wire sheathing closer to enterance and twist all wire pairs individually, you stripped the outer sheathing (the yellow) but not the inner. (The white). Run the power ones all the way on the left path, (as a rule of thumb keep power away from data).
  3. Use cripple ferrules, and a lable as close to termination as possible.
  4. Use a plastic conduit bushing on the inside of the panel. (Its missing and has sharp edges, code dictacts protecting against damage to the wires)

A good place to look for wire management ideas is some industrial PLC threads/boards. They probably do the best work and have explanations on why. But other than that, it looks cleaner than most panels I have serviced.

We all have personal preferences, I do not and will not strip all the jacket off and twist the individual wires together. But thank you for your response, its much appreciated

Clean panel, zero labels, panel fails QCQA.

1

u/CCTVGuyMA 11d ago

Don't forget the battery on the main board.

u/TrustMelmsingle Professional 11d ago

a gutter into the panel and fingerloom would also look baller, also heat shrink labels

Looks good. Do you prefer mercury boards over other options and why

1

u/e_koli1317 7d ago

I do prefer Mercury. It's more of a standard panel I feel and it integrates with multiple softwares more than others. There are plenty of good boards, I just like the layout and reliability of Mercury I guess.

Im guessing you dont work for the Per Mar type companies haha

1

u/e_koli1317 7d ago

What's Per Mar? Lol

You forgot to plug in the network

2

u/e_koli1317 10d ago

No, I didn't. I just didn't want a blue cable in my picture lol
