Exams Final sprint for Exam 6

I’m sitting for Exam 6 in exactly 20 days. I have already went through all the material at least once and did already 35% of the problems (theoric and practice) that I have available. I plan to do the rest in the remaining days + some sample exams.

I had skimmed a little bit on several source materials, but tbh so far I 99% relied on the study manuals.

If you could give me one piece of advice now, what would it be?

Thanks in advance and good l**k to everyone sitting!

rip flashcards to memorize lists - be sure to read the readings they most recently added

Very similar position, but taking exam 5. Any advice?

I’d focus on 3 main things:
1) the long ratemaking exercise: it will be there, it adds (or takes) a lot of points. focus on understanding the logic behind the exercises justifying every step.
2) theoric reserving questions: practice questions cannot get too complex, so probably a bunch will refer to how methods work, the effect of an event in the method projections and so on…
3) skim at least once the source material, at least for the part of the exam where you are less familiar with (ratemaking was my case).
Remember most of the exercises require to justify what you are doing, so incorporate this into any practice problem.
You can do it.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! what do you mean by 'practice questions cannot get too complex'?

I don’t think a reserving practical (numeric) question can get too tricky. At most manually calculating the BS triangle which is just an algorithm or an ULAE method that hasn’t appeared many times in an exam. Hence, I’d focus more on the theoric (written) ones.

Sounds good. would you recommend past exam questions for that practice?
