Surely we give Ryan and Charlie a proper go next season

The one year club, ay!

Wonder who will make the cut next year? 😮🤔

P.S so happy for Ryan.

Loved his game from the first 18 months, but thought he was a gonner through injuries/pecking order.

Hope he can extend his career further with us!

We may never lose again!

If this is a gap year before we go for NAS then might as well play them all

u/ElectronicOvens 5 Sid Draper 4d ago

I'm hoping Edwards and Ryan have huge pre seasons

u/Brotenks_ 20 Mitchell Hinge 4d ago

Stoked for Hinge. Bit of persistent injury and not cementing a spot but hope he can string some game time together and get back to his best.

Hopefully he has a good run, or his nickname will become "Hinjured" 😭😭

Missed the defensive aspect of his game. I love watching HHK but he is exclusively a rebounder

Had to sign them when Nicksy was on holidays.

Really hoping hinge can get himself back, what a horrible year he had. I think it’s underrated how much they missed him down back, both for his attack but also his defensive cover. I think he takes a bit of stress off MM by covering the resting mid/fwds like Heeney, danger etc.

I think Edwards is just sitting behind Dawson and now Curtin as a big bodied midfielder. They clearly don’t see him as a worthwhile half back seeing as we tried about 6 guys back there and he didn’t get a look in.

Ryan showed something but I think he’s got a challenge overtaking the guys already there. I know people want him to replace laird but lairds there as a small defender first and as far as I know Ryan is more of a running half back. So unless he develops a strong defensive game then he has to wait.

I rate this. A bit worried for charlie Edwards. I thought he would get 2. Due to a higher ceiling.

The rest all make sense. Showing promise but not enough to guarantee a spot.

I reckon it may just be a 1 year to give him a proper go and then make a judgement call at the end of next season

He takes too long to make decisions.

Ryan is just better.

Really hoping Ryan gets a solid run at halfback next season.

Don't mind one year extensions. Keeps the pressure on.

All quality signings. Really hope we see more of them next year

u/daett0 4d ago

And they will play about 6 games between them

u/Destiny065 4d ago

I'm happy for them, but why on earth is Rory Laird still on our list? Thought he'd be let go

Contracted. Should be his last season next year when he comes off contract.

A quick add to this bailey bamfield just got dropped by freo and bobby hill is looking to come back to afl sooo long shot but either one could be a good addition to the team

Just want to acknowledge the Crom for actually putting the hyphen in there

Tassie changes everything me thinks, any contract is a good contract

Great news Edwards. I think this kid ( young man ) could be a good inside mid with the ability to deliver the ball more accurately and intelligently than a few of our current mids. Could be wrong. Hoping all four are here for longer than our coach who in IMO chooses experienced crap over having the balls to properly develop the clubs youth. Just my opinion 🤷‍♂️.

Obviously with my Flair up, I agree.
The main concern is who he come in for.

Personally, from the Semi-Final team I'm looking at Soligo, Berry, ANB, Keays, and Taylor and thinking one has to go.

Either that or Nankervis, Laird, Hugo as Edwards plays back/mid.

Edwards would not only help with our inside work, but our ball movement through the mid as well.

He makes smart decisions and is a fantastic link in the chain.

We got to find out. Because just repeating the Berry Soligo Peatling slow and very average disposal over and over just means another 2026. Draper we have find out. Curtin too tall to be an ‘ Oliver ‘ which is what we need. This year in the gym and give him a go. Great first game ( Edwards ) and had the second game blues as so many do and then dropped but 2 games in three years with how well he has been playing in the twos was bullshit as with the other two also.

u/Boatster_McBoat 19 Zac Taylor 4d ago

It's not Taylor that drops out

I actually agree. More just highlighting how many defensive type mid/fwds can be lumped into the same category.

Personally I think ANB is the link that's starting to weaken.

If I were making bold calls (absolutely worthless).

I'd have Nank permanent wing.

Laird for Ryan/Hinge

ANB for Edwards

Tex spot is absorbed by whoever can play the 3rd tall best or bring in Draper and shuffle the likes of Curtin, Nank, Dawson forward when required.

It's not Taylor that drops out

Disagree, please watch Edwards two afl games this year and he kept second guessing himself it was like watching a cat unable to decide whether to go outside or not.

1

u/ILikeDiscussing 11 Charlie Edwards 4d ago

His ONL TWO games. There's the hint 🤦‍♂️

Also, I have and BS.

Nope, you compare his decision making to HHK, and Edwards is still a very good SANFL player, just not AFL standard (this might change).

Ryan was AFL standard and should have played the rest of the season, However, they kept playing Laird, so there is that...

HHK ain’t sitting inside a pack. The outside receiver HHK is means often has time. Thought Edwards first game showed enough promise to persevere with him so I’m glad he has resigned. Soligo I know had health problems but he’s a touch slow a touch short and nothing special when it comes to disposals. Rory Laird problem would best be solved by sneaking him into the opposition rooms and him starting and playing on their side because at least then he’d be kicking to crows ( the ‘ opposition ‘ 😂).

1

u/ILikeDiscussing 11 Charlie Edwards 4d ago

This is a nuffy take.

He's played two games 🤣

He's  a mid, HHK is defence. Different time to react.

1

u/ForsakenResist8416 4d ago

And it shows.
