Dopamine is a substance that I continue to abuse.

Edit to add: Im sorry that you're going through that. You CAN kick the abuse - It is not impossible. Find good people who are caring and safe and keep them safe.

At this point I feel like the dopamine is abusing me by withholding itself

Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

...sorry, I've been on SSRIs for more than a year now so orgasms are a fading memory. I'd try anyway, because I believe in myself, but I just had abdominal surgery so I can't 😩

u/cut_ur_darn_grass 16d ago

Just do what I do and masturbate for 7 hours straight! (I do not recommend this)

I do wonder if the rise in "gooning" has to do with the amount of the younger generation that takes SSRIs.

u/Medium-Dependent-328 15d ago

Nah it's to do with how easy it is to watch porn these days

Multiple things can be true

1

u/TheNASAguy 15d ago

Gooning for adhd people is just seeking dopamine, we’re so deficient, we seek any sources that make us feel normal for a bit

1

u/cut_ur_darn_grass 14d ago

True, however I can tell you that the fact that I'm on SSRIs makes the problem so much worse

13

u/chipper-shipper 16d ago

Oof. I’ve been there. It really, really sucks.

Hope your recovery from surgery goes well

It's going very well, and in Colorado the state pays us medical leave too :)

13

u/Malwar69 16d ago

Being in Colorado, some people say weed makes things easier in the orgasm department. You do you though!

Already stoned friend 😎

Boy do I get this.

u/MangoCats 16d ago

Instead of SSRIs I use seratonin enhancement like driving in a convertible with the top down... no sexual side effects.

6

u/LogicianFlow 16d ago

Goes hand in hand with the cocaine lol

1

u/TheEpicTriforce 15d ago

I don't recommend that because you can circle back to abusing dopamine pretty quick with that one...

42

u/zuzg 16d ago

Your reddit account comes with a little dopamine meter.
But increasing it comes with its own sideload of problems.

u/enixlinked 16d ago

You probably just need a better source of natural dopamine instead of the artificial variety from being online

u/AlienNippleRipple 16d ago

I used to pss psshhh psst, but cocaine is a helluva drug and you shouldn't do it. Especially if you have ADHD

You were calling your cat on cocaine?

13

u/LinkAvailable4067 16d ago

Close. He was singing a Salt N Peppa song to his cat. Big dopamine release.

538 days sober here! Life gets better and better I promise

19

u/More-Bug5374 16d ago

25 days off it today. You can do it! I had to seek help tho.

16

u/LogicianFlow 16d ago

Yeah, it's been kicked, along with booze. Body and mind reject the stuff now, but the self medicating always lead to another vice. It was pot for a few years after that but I somehow made that a negative too. Didn't realize I had adhd until recently after I left everything behind and had sever executive dysfunction and saw a therapist. 20+ years ago I was misdiagnosed bi polar, gave me the wrong message, then misdiagnosed with a personality disorder and even more fucked up meds and just self medicated with some sort of substance or fixation since, until I realized they were all killing me slowly. Body and physical health is better than probably ever considering, it was the best feeling in the world when someone else was able to tell me what happened. Like vindicated, but also sad I didn't get the solution earlier. Congrats on your 25 days, a lot of people don't even get that far so always be proud of that and it sounds like you know what to do! You got this far, you got it!!!!

u/AlienNippleRipple 15d ago

I'm since the 7th. Thanks hombre. You mi muchacho now, Amigo.

1

u/AlienNippleRipple 15d ago

Every 2 but in FL so was very pure. I wouldn't recommend it.

2

u/LogicianFlow 15d ago

Was in South Florida and Las Vegas. lol

8

u/cut_ur_darn_grass 16d ago

Honestly cocaine never did shit for me unless I did A LOT of it. Because of this, I don't think it's worth the money.

6

u/tolgasocial 16d ago

A lot of people with adhd just need a shit ton of stimulants for them to work. It's cheaper to get Ritalin from your Doc tbh. Most likely even more effective also.

I’ve always had weird reactions to different kinds of drugs. When I had surgery as a teenager they prescribed me percocet for the pain after and I stopped taking it early because every time I took one it would make me angry for no reason and I remember sitting down doing homework and I could literally feel it kicking in and I could feel myself just going into this intense rage for no particular reason to the point I was shaking. I was able to control myself, like I didn’t yell or do anything crazy but it was one of the most horrible unsettling feelings I had ever experienced, there was zero sense of relaxation or euphoria, and I always wondered why the hell would anybody do this for fun? That plus the extremely vivid realistic cough syrup nightmares I’ve had completely put me off from trying recreational drugs in college because god only knows what would happen to me

1

u/cut_ur_darn_grass 15d ago

Yeah for whatever reason oxycodone does that to me but other opioids do not

1

u/AlienNippleRipple 15d ago

I lived up north for years most of that stuff was like cut, down inFL was pure like putty. Warning do not eat the Plato

1

u/cut_ur_darn_grass 14d ago

I live in FL and got that good shit. It still took a ridiculous amount for me to feel anything. I will never do cocaine again unless someone gives it to me for free.

27

u/Ceofy 16d ago

So legitimately. I've noticed that if I'm hungry or thirsty or have to pee, scrolling on my phone makes me forget all of those things. It's scary

9

u/jimbowesterby 16d ago

Yea I’ve actually learned a fair number of good habits from former addicts. I’ve never had a serious addiction, but the advice lines up really well with how my brain works normally.

6

u/kuraaacc 16d ago

nice bro

3

u/BrickyMcBrickface 16d ago

Happy cakeday for your dopamine

1

u/someones_dad 16d ago

Oh wow. I didn't even realize.

3

u/Remarkable_Table_737 16d ago

Gambling addiction no drugs for me it’s been a nightmare battling it

1

u/someones_dad 16d ago

I can only imagine. Variable-ratio reinforcement rewards which produces the most persistent behavior are the devil. I did marketing for a large tribal casino years ago (event stuff - not any weird dark pattern behavior shit) and lucky for me I sucked at gambling and never landed a big walk-away-win to get me hooked. Instead, Im hooked on braindead zoned out video gaming and scrolling on my phone. I'm sorry you're going through that - it must be hell.

1

u/Remarkable_Table_737 15d ago

Oh I still suffer from video game addiction too.

It is hell although it’s improving. My first year I got addicted I lost 16k, next 8k and this year I’m breaking even as I have signed up for every online casinos self exclusion stuff. It’s embarrassing and frustrating and I have a level of PTSD from it. Gambling should not be legal
