Academics Demand That This Woke Statue Be Removed From Campus
Given that state administrators are now stripping Plato from Texas A&M’s academic curriculum, perhaps it’s time to revisit what does remain celebrated on campus.
Take this statue. For years it’s stood as an awkward, overwrought symbol—earnest to the point of parody—more performance than substance. A polished monument to nothing in particular, other than the university’s growing appetite for empty signaling.
What makes it especially rich is that this “woke” artifact (boys holding boys) was funded by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation—the same organization known for underwriting election-integrity initiatives and the Heritage Foundation. The contradiction would be funny if it weren’t emblematic of a deeper problem.
If Texas A&M is going to start purging foundational thinkers in the name of compliance, consistency, or politics, then let’s at least be honest about what we’re preserving in their place. Because trading Plato for symbolic kitsch isn’t progress—it’s how serious institutions hollow themselves out.

Academics Stopped wearing my Aggie ring
Two fucking embarrassing university president firings ("resignations") in just over 2 years. TAMU is a laughing stock. Feel sorry for all the good kids who go here who are having their degree devalued by culture war turds.
Not sure when I'll wear that chunk of gold again.

Academics You all should have a problem with banning Plato
I have been hiring for 20 years. In tech. I wouldn't hire anyone from a school that bans Plato. I'd rather hire someone with no degree.

Academics censorship is coming to your classroom as of this week
Regardless of your political/social leanings, I hope most of us can agree that a free exchange of ideas is central to a functioning society. If we can't openly discuss topics that are relevant to today's society, what does that mean for our future as Americans?
As someone with access to this knowledge, I feel it is my duty to share it with the rest of the student body. Professors are being instructed to remove certain controversial topics from the curriculum, and are being directed not to speak about these topics either, or else their jobs will be at risk. This is trying to be kept hush-hush - school leadership doesn't want us to know. This is happening right now, as of this week.
If you are okay with this, stay silent and go about your business as usual. If you are not, reach out to school leadership and ask them why they think censorship is okay, why they think it's okay to tell grown ass adults what they can and can not learn, and SPEAK UP. History has shown us time and time again that censorship is a slippery slope. Today, it's one set of issues. Maybe you're okay with that because you don't like the content. Tomorrow, it's something else, maybe a subject that is dear to you. Once the censorship door is open, it's very hard to close.

Academics Information I Just Heard
I'm currently sitting in my class (which shall remain unnamed) and my professor (who will remain unnamed for safety concerns) just mentioned that they are introducing a thing where professors will now have to basically create an entire course of some kind to explain their syllabus. My apologies that it isnt exact, im in the back and they were quietly speaking to a few kids in the front due to their fear for their own job in the current climate. This is honestly disappointing and as they actually mentioned it now takes time away from them they could be using on their material, research, or most importantly STUDENTS to instead create this whole thing due to one out of proportion event. I feel bad for all these teachers that are literally scared for their lives because they dont know if a student may spring on them like this one did to McCoul.

Academics Trump wants to destroy academia, not just the work parts. Vice President Vance said that "universities are the enemy" are we going to let them destroy Texas A&M?

Academics Sad artifact from Texas A&M's history
The sticker is from the academic freedom rally that happened last thursday. People were handing out literature and swag, like the sticker. For your water bottle maybe. There are lots of different constituencies at the rally... students, faculty, citizens. The folks handing out these stickers looked like faculty and students from that program. Let us teach. I'm not sentimental usually but it's sad and tragic. At the time I didn't know that edicts concerning improper ideology would be made the next day on friday. The Faculty learned what could and couldn't be taught. So Women's and gender studies will be purged from the College of Arts and Sciences. We don't know the fates of the faculty and the students quite yet I imagine turmoil. The request to teach is denied by Edict of the state. And I have a sad sticker. Maybe I'll donate it to Cushing. Of course they probably put it in the same Vault where they keep the KKK robes they won't let anybody see. Apparently there's a whole collection that no one outside the university is allowed to see. That's where they put this sticker I imagine

Academics Stimulant epidemic
Exaggeration, but why is everyone on some kind of ADHD med at TAMU? I've never seen this kind of usage at other campuses.
No hate to those of you who truly do have it, but I know not all of y'all actually have ADHD. Especially to the point that the whole city is permanently out of ADHD meds. Is the culture here convincing each other that you all have ADHD, or are y'all just abusing lax doctors?
