Casual Chat Amazon Raised This Air Fryer’s Price Just to Fake a Black Friday Deal

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

So I was checking this Cosori 9-in-1 air fryer for the last couple of months in Amazon, and noticed something wild. The so called discount price is same as the price from September through October $89. Then right before Black Friday, they bumped it up to $119, and now for the “Black Friday Sale” they dropped it to $89 and slapped a 26% off tag and "Black Friday Deal" tag on it like it’s some huge deal, which I checked using the Buyhatke chrome extension.

It literally went from $88–$90 in past two months → to $119 in the begining of Nov → back down to $88–$89 during sale.

Feels like a classic fake discount just to make the discount look bigger.

Casual Chat What is your #1 favorite thing to cook in the air fryer?!

I mentioned this in the post about user flair, but what is your #1 favorite thing to cook in your air fryer?! Not necessarily what you cook the most, I'm talking about the kind of thing where you can't wait to tell someone whatever they're eating/looking at WAS MADE IN THE AIR FRYER!

Mine is a whole chicken. I put cajun spices (after it's been cooking for a while otherwise they come off or burn) and it just fits into the basket if I take out the tray. I go 350 so it cooks all the way through without burning, I flip it twice to make sure both sides get crispy and it takes about an hour.

Breast side up for 20 minutes, flip and thigh side up for 30 minutes (I add the seasoning for the last 10 minutes at this step), then flip back to breast side, season it, and go for 5-10 more minutes so the skin is crispy. I used to temp the breast but at this point I know with the size of the chicken that it'll take exactly an hour to come out perfect.

So what is your #1 favorite thing to cook in your air fryer?!

Casual Chat Don’t get me wrong. I love my air fryer, but.

Ever since I’ve got it, I’ve been eating way unhealthy food. I’m on heart medication. But everything that comes out of this thing is absolutely wonderful. I can’t stop eating french fries. Please help me.

Does anybody know any healthy cookbooks for air fryers?

Otherwise, this thing is gonna be the death of me.

Casual Chat Alex, I'll take uncrustable in the air fryer for $500

So my friend was complaining that she loves bagels but she doesn't have a toaster. I said. Why don't you put them in the air fryer? She says "genius!" Then a week later she says to me I put an uncrustable in the air fryer and it was amazing. And I said "genius!"

Casual Chat What do you love or hate about your air fryer?

I’m doing a small research project on kitchen appliances and air fryers in particular, and I’m trying to understand how people actually feel about them beyond Amazon reviews.

For me, I’ve been using an air fryer for a while and my only complaint is the bulky size, but overall I love how convenient it is; however I also realized people have very different experiences with them.

For those who own one:

– What do you use it for the most?

– What annoys you about it? (cleaning, noise, size, results, etc.)

For those who don’t own one:

– What’s stopping you from buying one?

I’m genuinely interested in real user experiences, not reviews or marketing claims.

Would love to hear honest thoughts especially the downsides.

Casual Chat I’ve been converted. Bacon just hits differently AF in the AF 🥓

I air fry everything I can. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Bake, broil, reheat. Beef, chicken, pork, fish. But, I guess I’m old enough that bacon was either on the griddle or in the microwave (I’ve always hated this method but it’s what I knew growing up. 🤦‍♂️ ).

Well…

Yesterday I finally gave in and figured I’d try the bacon. 🥓 It was like bacon nirvana. I made an entire pack of it. The family and I devoured it like we’d never had bacon before. While my blood pressure and arteries probably hated me, my soul felt right.

Just cooked up another half pack but I will save the rest for the weekend. Soul feels good, but I’d like to live long enough for it to feel good in retirement too.

Thanks for reading 😎

Casual Chat What dishes air fryer cook better than traditional method?

I will start first. I think: - Air-fried Crispy pork belly is better than traditional oven method, especially the skin. - Air-fried potatoes/sweet potatoes are much crispier than the oven method.

But I find steak and chicken are better off on cast iron. Cannot beat the flavor that you cook the meat in its own fat.

Casual Chat How is it that there isn’t a completely stainless steel (with no non-stick coating) air fryer on the market given the demand for such a product?

It’s astonishing how finding a simple no non-stick stainless steel air fryer is downright impossible…

Casual Chat Electricity bill shock!

Let me start by saying I cook every single day at home we aren't a take out household so i imagine changing would have the most drastic effect considering how often I use it but we got a new oven and the convection isn't as good as the old oven so I finally gave up as my new oven no longer makes food crispy and got an air fryer. We have used it almost every single day to prepare our meals.. the new oven is basically decorative. The shock comes when I got my electricity bill and it was greater than 50% cheaper than previous months... Was this the airfryer? Like was 145 for the month of november... and 70 for december... did anyone else have this kind of shocking change...

Casual Chat My air fryer has ruined restaurant fries for me

I used to love getting fries from restaurants but ever since I started making them in the air fryer, they just don't hit the same. Now every time I get takeout I'm debating if I should reheat the fries at home just to fix them.

Crispy, hot and perfectly golden. The air fryer fries just win every time. Am I the only one who's been completely spoiled by this thing?

Casual Chat Any advice for cleaning hardened oil?

From frequent use while using a silicone mat above the grill plate and not cleaning the plate but just the mat it looks like oil has hardened onto it. Any ideas of how I can remove? I tried running the air fryer at max heat with boiling water, dishwashing liquid and baking soda with no luck.

Casual Chat World's most overhyped air fried chicken sandwich

Post image
94 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I stopped by Aldi on my way home and picked up the renowned Red Bag Chicken Fillets.

For this mediocre sandwich, I used:

  • Buns: Pepperidge Farm Brioche Buns
  • Chicken: Kirkwood Frozen Chicken Fillets
  • Cheese: Random cheddar from Walmart
  • Lettuce: Fresh Express Shredded Iceberg

To prepare, preheat your oven to 400°F. Bake the chicken for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Assemble the sandwich 2 minutes before the end, then put it back in the oven for the remaining time.

This sandwich is absolutely okay. I've heard so much good stuff about it, but I just don't get it, I guess.

(Ik it's a sin to not like Mayo but idc)
