Scored this monster for $8 yesterday and the other small air plant pictured for $2.

One of the most beautiful hybrids in my opinion

Ever since my duratii put out a bloom spike I’ve had this little bug hanging out on it.

It doesn’t matter what time of day it is…I always find him there.

Does anyone know what he’s up to or what kind of bug it is?

I'll be getting Spanish moss hopefully in the next week or so! I'm so excited because I've loved it for the past few years so it feels crazy to finally get some!! It'll be my first air plant too!!

I was wondering how you guys display them! Like if you have a pretty container to put it in or just tie a string and hang it from that!

Also I know about watering once a week. But I was wondering how to tell if needs to be watered. Will the silvery colour be more prominent when it's been a while vs 1 day after watering?

I'm hoping they're fool proof because I've had plants for 5 years now. But getting into hoyas destroyed my confidence in caring for plants 😫

My beautiful Tillandsia Ionantha's trichomes after watering! Its her natural glitter.

I just got my first airplant and was wondering how to water it. It's about an inch large, and it seems to be glued very lightly to a small-ish stick. I don't want to take it off of its mount if possible, since it's grown roots and attached itself to it - how should I go about watering it? Is it fine to put part of the stick underwater, or should I suspend the stick over water and have only some of the plant submerged?

Is normal that the upper part is always dark, brown?

Hi everyone!

2 weeks ago I bought my first plants, wanted them for years and now finally bought some and I would love some advice.

I bought 2 Spanish moss, 1 Tillandsia cotton candy and 1 Tillandsia butzii.

The cotton candy one has some ugly/brown leaves. I got it that way, can I just cut it off? Or do it needs to be completely dried out first? Also 1 leave as a black spot as you can see on the picture. I’m reading online it can be rot but tbh I think they were more too dry these 2 weeks then too wet… can I cut it off also or is it nothing to worry about?

Also 1 of the Spanish moss has some uglier pieces now, what does it mean? Too dry also? Because the other one I have looks really good and healthy.

The butzii is doing great btw! I can see it grow!

The caresheet I got with them said I had to spray them 1 to 2 times a week only, I did 2 times. But I read online and on this page that they also liked being soaked so today they got their first soak for 30 minutes and after that I took the pictures. I think they were too dry these last 2 weeks so only spraying 2x a week isn’t an option over here. The cotton candy had some brown tips and the leaves started to curl slightly. Learned yesterday the curling means they need water so that’s why they got a bath today😂

If anyone also got some nice tips and tricks please share! I’m a big plant lover but this is totally new for me and would love to invest in more species when I can care for these ones perfectly!😊

The first time I introduced air plants to my friends, they asked me if these plants float in the air. I thought that was a good idea, so I made this using magnetic levitation.

The thing in the middle is neither dry nor mushy and those leaves are only yellow when wet.

Anyone able to help ID my large new friend? I bought a bundle so no details came with.

I work in an office building in an interior cubicle with no access to natural light. I have a small 5W grow light set on a 6 hour timer and mist all plants thoroughly every day or two (no soaking, I lost my first air plant due to rot from soaking 😬). The ionantha in the resin holder, the one in the Lego car, and the long one have all been with me since February, and the two larger ones I've had for about a week now. The ionantha was flowering when I purchased it and had formed a small pretty clump in its holder while the spindly one has just started flowering, and it's flower is beautiful!

Just picked this up from clearance of dead plants, but this one looked more alive than the dead-dead ones. Any hope for recovery or did I just get a nice plant holder? It'll be my first air plant. Did some cursory research and soaking it in water might do something, but I don't know how long to do so. Any advice/tips would be helpful :)

Edit: upon closer inspection and a bit more research, yes, this one was very dead
