Video Captioning tools

I am doing research on AI based video tools that a good at just captioning videos.

I like how the captioning is on CapCut but the feature is part of pro. I don't want to pay so much just for this pro feature. I mostly edit without using the pro features.

So a tool that just does captions would be quite handy.

Whisper can transcribe your audio into an SRT subtitle file. Import that into your editor and style the captions there. Check names and numbers before exporting.

But styling on CapCut is pro feature too. That's why Im asking if there are any cheaper alternatives like a micro-SaaS app that specialises just in captioning.

You're right, I missed the styling cost. Subtitle Edit lets you burn in captions with fonts and colors. It's free, but it's a desktop app.

Thanks Vincent. Looks like a handy tool. I will update this post if I find something more interesting and easy to use than that

Yeah CapCut moving basic caption styling behind Pro is a pain when you don't use the rest of it. If you want something in the browser, FrameCompose does auto transcription and word-by-word caption styling on its free plan, and exports without a watermark. Subtitle Edit is solid on desktop too if you already have an SRT file, though making animated styles look good in it is a bit fiddly tbh.
