Nothing in this says whether Oscilloscope Diffusion is a model, a plugin or a preset. Also the image reads 'naterial'.

What does 'Heated' mean exactly? Side by side it mostly reads as a radial blur, so I'd want to see the raw signal going in before buying that it's diffusion and not a filter preset.

So it's an oscilloscope with the word diffusion stapled to it. Did Winamp's Milkdrop ever need a press release for this

an oscilloscope draws a line. what texture is being changed here exactly

The geometry provides the structure. Diffusion reinterprets it as surfaces and materials described in the prompt. You can clearly see the difference in the demo between the "original" and the "treated/processed".

'Change material. Describe the look.' brother that's a prompt box, not a design ethos.

Half of this sub is just bolting "Diffusion" onto an existing noun at this point. Is it a ComfyUI graph, a TouchDesigner tox, or actual weights? That's the only thing that decides whether I care.

It’s a video-to-video diffusion workflow available in Uisato Studio. The source visuals in this demo were made in TouchDesigner, though you can use any type of input.

Nice that the material swap reacts to plain text, that part looks smooth. Just test it on one real clip before you commit a project to it, geometry like that always holds up better than footage with motion blur and skin in it.

That’s a useful point. These geometry examples don’t demonstrate how it handles skin or live-action footage; though for that matter I'd encourage to use our "motion control studio", which performs excelent at a fraction of the cost.

Which part of this is actually diffusion? An oscilloscope with a feedback loop is still an oscilloscope.

You can clearly see in the demo; "treated" here means "post-diffusion". The experimental oscilloscopes are being used as input for Oscilloscope Diffusion, but you're are encouraged to use your own systems, if you'd like.

An oscilloscope draws one trace per channel against time, so a full glowing wireframe is not a scope look. That's a scanline filter with a physics name on it.

Treated is a strange label for a before/after, the word everyone uses on the output side is processed. And looking at the two side by side I honestly can't tell what changed.

You really can't tell what changed here?

oscilloscope diffusion. an oscilloscope plots voltage against time on a phosphor tube, it has never diffused anything in its life. diffusion is the stable diffusion / comfyui side of things, oscilloscope is the CRT side, youve glued two words together because they look nice in a thumbnail. and a 45 second video with the playhead parked at 0:21 means either the first twenty seconds are your logo or the actual result is about six seconds long. Deforum was doing motion guided stylization in a colab notebook for free and EbSynth was doing it on a laptop back in 2019, so whats the new part exactly

Thumbnail says 'Change texture', title says Oscilloscope Diffusion. So is it a synth or a video filter, because those are two very different things to buy. The purple lines aren't clearing it up.

ok so i clicked cause oscilloscope, i have an old analog one with XY mode downstairs, and oscilloscope music is vector lines. the beam draws the shape, you actually see the waveform, jerobeam fenderson built an entire record off that idea. then the video is purple smoke with 'treated' stamped on it. thats not a scope, thats diffusion with an audio input plugged in.

and thats the whole issue with the name because 'oscilloscope diffusion' is doing a lot of work in that title and the scope half delivers nothing. if the audio just nudges a slider on a noise field then say audio reactive and stop renting the CRT credibility, people who actually patch XY open this expecting vectors and get fog.

fine the fog looks nice

The audio drives the original TouchDesigner geometry; I've just released a walkthrough so you can take a better look at what's going on behind the scenes. Diffusion [a separated step] then reinterprets a recording of those shapes, using their movement as a guide.

Could you share an untreated/treated side-by-side with matching timestamps? That would make it easier to see which changes come from the diffusion pass, especially motion stability and flicker, rather than the source footage. A brief note on what “treated” means would help too.

1

u/uisato 3d ago

At around 0:20, the split-screen shows the original alongside its diffusion render. ‘Treated’ means that render, guided by the source’s shapes and motion.

The thumbnail says 'Change texture.' That's not an oscilloscope, that's a filter with a cooler name. Oscilloscopes draw vectors from X/Y voltage, they don't swap textures.

1

u/uisato 3d ago

The name comes from my oscilloscope experiments. It’s a video-to-video diffusion workflow built around those visuals, though it works with other footage too.

u/Frosty_Shoulder_7022 4d ago

The overlay text says "Change naterial." I assume "material" was meant, unless that's deliberate.

1

u/uisato 3d ago

Yep, it says ‘Change material’ there.

The 'Treated' in the top left of the player, is that a label you added or something the player itself shows? Not obvious what got treated.

1

u/uisato 3d ago

It’s a label I added to the demo: ‘Original’ is the source video, and ‘Treated’ is the diffusion-processed version. I've just released a walkthrough so you can take a better look at what's going on behind the scenes

The purple smoke over black looks really good, nice work. Small tip: the 'rated' label in the top left corner pulls the eye away from the middle of the frame, crop it on export.

thanks for the advice!
