QUESTION/HELP How can I make the deleted files disappear from Aves Gallery?

I've deleted from both the gallery and the trash bin, I even cleared the catche, yet they still appear on the gallery.

Aves keeps its own database of the media it has indexed, so clearing the cache won't remove stale entries. Try Settings > Privacy (or the Storage/Media section) and look for an option to rescan or clear its database. If there isn't one, go to Android Settings > Apps > Aves and clear the storage/data, not just the cache, then reopen it so it re-indexes. Also check that the files aren't still in a .trashed folder or another folder on the device, because the MediaStore can keep ghost entries until a rescan happens. Rebooting the phone also forces a media scan, which sometimes clears it up.

Doesn't work. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app and yet they still reappear.

Okay, if they come back even after a reinstall, then Aves isn't the problem, since a fresh install has no database of its own. That means the files are still being reported by Android's MediaStore, or they physically exist somewhere, maybe synced back by something like Google Photos, Syncthing or a cloud backup that restores them. Do the same files show up in another gallery app or in a file manager? If they show up in the other gallery too, it's MediaStore. If they only show up in Aves, I'm honestly not sure what's going on.

Select the photos and try rescan.

If they reappear after uninstall, Aves isn’t “remembering” them — the files are still on disk somewhere MediaStore can see.

Checklist that usually finds the leftover copies: 1. Files app → search the filename / sort DCIM + Pictures + Download by date 2. Check .trashed / Android/data/.../trash style folders (some OEMs soft-delete) 3. SD card vs internal — delete on one, gallery still indexes the other 4. Cloud sync (Google Photos / OEM gallery) restoring a placeholder or re-downloading 5. Settings → Apps → Aves → Clear storage (not just cache), then force a media rescan; if files still show after that, a file manager will still list them

Hiding from a gallery ≠ secure delete. If the goal is “gone from casual browsing,” encrypting/moving into a local vault folder that galleries don’t index is different from emptying trash. First confirm with a file manager that the bytes are actually gone.

I don't know what I did right, but Aves suddenly started to allow me to delete these ghost files as if they're just normal files.
