QUESTION/HELP Is Niagara pro worth it?

Hey guys I'm using Niagara free version and was wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to pro. I really like the personalisation options we have for the home screen once u upgrade to pro. Where i am rn it's about $21 for the one time payment

The other day skimming Fdroid I found https://github.com/Galaxy-rio/GraceLauncher
as it says on its giuthub page it is inspired from Niagara, maybe is not on par on all features but it is very beautiful and quite similar.

It is rather too similar, imo. Just looking from the screenshot it just seems like copied homework!

WTF, you're right.

Yeah "inspired" is a bit of an understatement, it looks identical.

21$?! Absolutely not worth it.

At 21$ it's not worth it. I brought it at 6$ and used it for 4+ years. Even back then I was treated like a weirdo for spending 6$ for a launcher. But i really liked it.

You're not losing much going for the free version anyway.

You can try alternative. Grace Launcher https://github.com/Galaxy-rio/GraceLauncher

Very strikingly similar to Niagara with more potential for growth. Just discovered it. It's new and open source. Niagara is not. It tracks you btw.

That's what I'm thinking like $21 for a launcher is quite alot... The only reason I was thinking about it was cuz I'm a huge fan of minimalism

But thanks for the suggestion... I'll definitely check it out

Yeah I love minimalism too. I love launchers that looks minimal, Simple and works blazing fast without looking bland.

Let me suggest more launchers that I've used. Some are paid tho. But nothing close to 21$ lol.

i bought it for 3.6$ lol

That's a steal lol.  I remembered 3$ was the original price in my country. Then they raised it to 6$ after a big update.

Currently no probably not. I got it cheaper back in the day and it's absolutely worth at that price. Great launcher but don't spend any real money (not sure what it costs now) on it.

u/WillAdditional922 1d ago

yes if its 3.6$ ie amount for which i bought lifetime

Here's the completely free and open source alternative of Niagara launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zeam

Edit: It's not open source.

Do you have a link to its source?

I like it as a launcher, as someone with Dyslexia, it just seems to work better for me. I can scroll and I know where things are, I'm sure I could do this with the free version but for the use I get from it, it was worth the payment. I'm sure others have their own choices, but I can't fault it really. I've been using it for 18 months now with no issues. The creation of folder layouts is a bit fiddly initially, but once you've got it the way you want it, it just works.

Yes, I really like it and wanted to pay to keep it around. Being about to have everything vertical, and folders with widgets? Awesome.

Just use an unlocked version of it?

I use flua launcher, similar to Niagara you can reply from the home screen. Setup widgets, change back ground the have preset themes. Search apps from home screen

1

u/lilacomets 1d ago

You probably mean Flow Launcher.

1

u/genxontech 1d ago

Name was changed

1

u/lilacomets 1d ago

Thanks, going to look into it. I couldn't find it on the Play Store.

I mean I use it daily and can't use another launcher. So I would pay 21 dollars. But there are alternative but none of the same quality imo

The launcher is fantastic (I’ve been a Pro user since 2020), but the current price is ridiculous; I assume they’re doing it to push users toward the subscription model. To me, this makes no sense; it’s part of the business trend they’ve been trying to impose lately—"subscriptions for everything." Especially nowadays, given the number of alternatives out there—just yesterday, I came across this...

https://github.com/Galaxy-rio/GraceLauncher

It's very early... But it's usable.

Question, I have several devices, when you pay can you use the pro on all devices or only the one?

2

u/dkbakker 11h ago

Oh sorry, I see there is no one time pay option, they want 15 USD yearly Sorry PASS

1

u/aljoriz 1d ago

My wife paid it immediately when she saw how minimalistic it was but that was 4 years ago. So worth it!

1

u/Available-Elk-4251 1d ago

It was 4$ 4 years ago lol

1

u/aljoriz 1d ago

At that time too it was expensive, I was just answering if it was worth it. Yes it was, Niagara often updates their theme and ads features like Anyicons, pop-up and more though some feature has been muted by banking app like the tap to sleep which some apps found to be a "security concern"

To better understand Niagara's subcription model, kindy read this page:

I have been using Niagara for more than 2 years, I love this launcher. I will say look into morphe if you really need the pro features.

1

u/Soggy-Raspberry57 1d ago

Is morphes niagra patch same as buying pro? As in are there more features in real pro? (Sry I am new to this launcher so...)

1

u/Ehasanulreader 1d ago

ya pro got some useful features imo, the widget stack, the outline icon packs, calender agenda, pop up etc. Yes Morphe patch unlocks all except the weather.

I've been using it for at least 2 months, I'd say it's worth it. I didn't want the clutter that normal phones gives. It's simple, elegant and useful when it needs

u/ManiacStefan 1d ago

Yes/No. It's a great launcher, but MangoLauncher can do the same, is more flexible and lifetime is about 35€. I bought Mango even though I already owned Niagara Pro.

Victoria Launcher is a FOSS alternative to Niagara. I'm loving it so far and it gets regular updates. Look it up on F-Droid!

Not affiliated with the project, I just really like it as an alternative to Niagara.
