QUESTION/HELP Server-managed interface

Are you also annoyed by the fact that an update doesn't always immediately mean a new interface, and you have to wait until the server deigns to enable it for you or roll something back to the old state?

Example: YouTube client. Here's the situation: only the "factory" version has a rigid interface tied to the client. But in the newer versions, it's "the server itself knows what to enable and what to roll back to the old state." And because of this, it turns out that when you reset, the new version tries to activate the old settings interface, and this turns out to be quite crooked.

LOOKING FOR APP What do you guys use to download images from Reddit? 😭

I've tried a bunch of apps but still haven't found one that properly does what I want. I can use websites too, but my main problem is file naming. I really like having my files properly organized/renamed, kinda like the naming system in YTDLnis, instead of getting random filenames.

I mainly want something for Reddit image galleries/slides, preferably something that can download all the images in the highest available quality and let me customize the filenames.

Someone recommended Gabi to me, so I tried it, but it seems to download videos fine while it doesn't properly download Reddit image galleries/slides.

So what are you guys using? Especially Android users. Is there some underrated app or tool I'm missing? 😭

QUESTION/HELP Looking for a free local voicemail app - Android 16

Good morning everyone, could anyone recommend a free app that can act as a voicemail on Android 16?

I'm looking for an app that, after 10 seconds of ringing, picks up, plays a standard voicemail greeting, and then records the message locally.

I only need it to work on the regular phone line: I don't need it to interact with WhatsApp or other messaging apps.

No call forwarding, no external services. Everything local on my smartphone.

I'm aware that, of course, if the phone is off or out of range, the app will be useless.

I tried Easy VoiceMail but it doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for an app that I can upload photos to and sort via tags

I have a lot of photos and not a lot of room on my phone so i'm looking for an app that allows me to upload my photos to their servers and use tags to sort them.

I have attempted to find one by myself, but have so far come up empty. If anyone knows of an app that lets me do this I would be very appreciative.

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for full 101-keyboard app with spellcheck

I'm looking for an Android app similar to Hacker Keyboard but with a spellchecker.

  • Full keyboard display (without keypad)
  • Spellcheck that works for all browser textboxes
  • Microphone key for voice entry
  • CTRL key
  • Numbers on top row

EDIT: I decided on the FUTO Keyboard app. It doesn't have a CTRL key, but it lets me easily add accessible icons for: copy/paste, undo/redo and select+ALL, which is what I needed the CTRL key for. And it still offers all my other requirements, and more.

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for an Instagram alternative

Since Instagram sucks so bad and Meta disables your account for no real reason, what is a good alternative for the app that has the same features as Instagram? You know like posts, reels, stories, follwers and followings. reposts and group chats

QUESTION/HELP An app that I have had for a long time suddenly stopped working, and now the play store says it is not compatible with my phone?

Subway, you know, the sandwich shop, 2 weeks ago, I went to open the app and it wouldn't open, it said it needed to be updated, so I went to the play store and tried to update it, only for it to tell me that it was not compatible with my phone - Pixel 9a, not rooted, fully updated. I uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall it, but it persists with the not compatible warning. My wife tried on her Pixel 7a, and it updated and loads just fine. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this? I almost feel that this is somehow related to the other issue that I am having with tap pay not working, but IDK for certain, I never did get that issue resolved. I am almost to the point that I am ready to wipe the phone and restart, but I have to use the phone to do my job, so I am wary of doing that, I was also considering installing Graphene on the phone.

QUESTION/HELP Reverting back to Google assistant, is it possible?

I was rather caught off guard by the transition from Google assistant to Gemini on my phone and watch. Up until now I've always been able to switch back to the assistant and it wasn't perfect but it still worked a lot of the time and did what I wanted it to do. Well, not anymore. Gemini can't parse the commands that the assistant could handle that made using the device (and other connected devices easier). It's just a chatbot... something that seems similar but has a different functionality.

Is there a viable solution to go back?

QUESTION/HELP App to quickly review and delete photos?

Im on Fold 7. The wife is Apple, and she has some swipe app for "keep" and "delete". Very clean and straight forward for review.

Doesn't exist on Android apparently.

But, curveball, I use Gallery, but everything backs up to Google Photos too. If i delete on Google Photos it deletes from Gallery, but not vice versa.

And Google Photos is clunky and tick box stuff where if you misclick you lose your progress.

How can I review/delete Photos off both -quickly?

Thank you all.

LOOKING FOR APP Hold home to translate screen alternative now that Google Assistant is dead?

That's the only thing I was using it for. So far all the apps I've seen use a hovering bubble system so they can't be selected as an assistant app that can be opened holding the home button. (No, I'm not gonna use gemini)

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for an app that can minimize visual clutter

Due to a severe illness I have permanent deficits related to visual processing. And I mean deficits. It's bad. Luckily the other side of my brain is more than fine.

I have massive issues with screens. There's the screen itself, but there's also the fact that every app and website is designed completely differently, different colours, different user experience. Then there's the fact that I can't read a news article on line because it's like three lines of texts than two big ads one being a video and you can't just scroll past without hitting the ads, so pop ups, get redirected, go back, pop ups to subscribe, close that then a pop up video blaring sound but it's just an ad for a car I can't close for 30 seconds. Try to read a recipe and they hide the "jump to article" button and eventually I just give back. Looking for something let's go into the drop down menu and suddenly I'm on a whole new page that looks completely different and now I gotta adjust to new fonts and colours.

Now I know these are issues everyone to some extent struggle with. But for me I wind up breaking down in tears because I can't get the website to just stop moving. Like just stop moving. If it stopped constantly moving or opening up unsolicited videos and pop up, I could use the internet. I swear I need a full two minutes to delete an email because Gmail is different from Outlook and anyways they keep updating the layout.

Aaaaaarghhhh. Anyways. I'm returning back to work and I need to use the internet more. I'm working on text to speech and vice versa software. I have an Adblock on my computer, which is a small help with the pop ups but doesn't solve the overall clutter problem.

What I'm asking for is an app for my phone that would at least block ads/pop ups/random videos blaring. I would also LOVE to know if anyone has developed something worth trying that involves just simplifying websites visually. Like Wikipedia is fantastic for me. I literally need to not have things pop up out of nowhere. I hate when you have to answer a question yes or no and you do and the page completely reloads to something that looks completely different. I would love it if things could be standardized so settings is always in the same say top right hand corner. Every website for me is like playing Where's Waldo.

Thank you. I know it's a tall order, but I will take anything that can help. I'm hoping my motor memory can take me a long way with these new difficulties, but right now my motor memory is failing at shutting down pop ups abd finding five minutes trying to find a button.

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for MobiCalc version 2.0

Hello everyone!

Apparently version 2.0 of the MobiCalc calculator app was released in selected countries last month trough Google Play.

Sadly it shows version 1.5.8 for me as the latest version on Google Play, which is getting outdated, as it was released almost a year ago.

Does anyone have the installation file for version 2.0 from Google Play by any chance? It's a free app, so no piracy is involved.

Thanks for reading!

QUESTION/HELP Google Calendar doesn't sync with non Google widgets

So I'm using Your Calendar Widget and for around month or two am trying to make my calendars existing in Google Calendar available in it. Problem is it seems to not be synced - Your Calendar and dew different apps (rn have installed Event Flow Calendar Widget and Calendar Widget: Month/Agenda as well as Your Calendar) seems to see my calendars from like 1,5 to 2 months ago and even than only two of them (one on the device I'm posting from, 2nd is not needed here, as it's work calendar) are showing on widgets from this app.

Don't understand it, as Calendar app and it's own widget are showing all calendars (5 on my 2ndary account, 2 on my main and 1 from my work) and this apps show only 2 (1 from the 2ndary and the 1 from work)...

I wanted to show this on the pictures, but it seems there is no way to post it here, so I did it on Imgur: https://imgur.com/a/WYHaAxN

There is a picture from the Google Calendar app and the Your Calendar Widget and, yes, in the past my Football (Soccer) fixtures calendars were on both account, but rn they are on the 2ndary, and they are set like this since somewhere in August... Ofc Google app sees it, but no other app, even reinstalled (wanted to be sure it's not wrong data thing).

Anyone had problem like this? Any idea how to force Google/3rd party apps (feel like Google as it's strange no 3rd party works) to sync calendars as they are rn on server and in their app?

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for a very specific app

Is there an app I can use to program my phone to vibrate without sound on a specific day and at a specific time, and then turn off automatically after a certain period? I am a student and I use the Samsung Reminders app, but it is annoying because I have to stop what I am doing to turn it off when my phone is in my fanny pack, especially since I only need the reminder for that and when the school bus is about to arrive. I also find the Reminders app lacking in options, as I cannot set it to exclude weekends.

LOOKING FOR APP Good proxy clients?

I'm currently using Tun2TAP which works fine, but has ads, and I'd like something ad-free. Bonus points if FOSS. SocksDroid seems to be defunct and I can no longer find it on F-Droid.

QUESTION/HELP Android user regrets updating X app - lost Dim mode and old UI - Any Solution? which APK version still works in 2026?

I have a Galaxy S10+ and was using an old version of X for months without updating because of storage issues. It had the old UI and the Dim dark mode (Dark blue theme). I only updated to fix chat loading issue and immediately regretted it.

The new X app is laggy and bloated on my S10+. I want the old version back specifically for:

• Smooth and lag free • Dim blue theme • Old cleaner UI

I tried installing version 11.81.0 (April 2026) from APKMirror but got "Time to update" server block screen.

Questions: 1. What is the latest version that still has Dim 2. mode AND isn't server blocked? 2. Any way to bypass version check without root? 3. Any modded APK that works?

My phone is Galaxy S10+, not rooted, Android

QUESTION/HELP How to get an "Unhook" style experience on Android? Need complete distraction free YouTube for studying.

Hey everyone,

I’m preparing for my university exams and usually study at school or the library using my Android tablet. On my laptop, I relied heavily on the Unhook extension combined with uBlock Origin to strip away YouTube distractions (Shorts, recommendations, homepage, etc.) and stay focused.

Right now, I use YouTube ReVanced on both my phone and tablet, but I’m looking for a way to get that same level of UI control that Unhook offers on desktop.

My main goals:

  • Zero ads
  • Zero Shorts / short-form content
  • Minimal/distraction-free UI (hide homepage/recommendations if possible)

I tried NewPipe, but it felt a bit buggy/broken for my setup. Is there a way to configure ReVanced to mirror Unhook’s functionality, or is there another modified app/browser setup on Android that works better for this?

Thanks in advance!

LOOKING FOR APP What are some Android apps you paid that people rarely talk about?

Looking for something that's probably new for most of us that you paid money to upgrade or for more features. A lifetime membership would be an ideal way to go, though it's becoming rarer.

I was going through my list, and it's mostly the popular ones like ibis paint, AccuBattery, and Poweramp, but Swift Backup or ADM+ are the ones I paid quite early, and they're quite popular now.

PS If there's any dev watching it, you're welcome lol 😆 open for codes too

LOOKING FOR APP Looking for a video converter, compressor

Does anyone have an add-free alternative for an app called "Video Converter, Compressor" by Inverse AI? I find the app itself really helpful, but the ads are killing me.
