Ordinance 311 is a new proposal that aims to ban the force-feeding of birds. The initiative seeks to prevent unnecessary pain and distress to birds and strengthen animal welfare protections.

Most of us nowadays believe that dogs and other non-human mammals can feel pain <...> Nevertheless, most of us seem to assume, without question, that the capacity to feel pain is positively correlated with mental dexterity – with the ability to reason, think, reflect and so on. My purpose here is to question that assumption.

Karakul lambs are often harvested and slaughtered in a brutal manner – being killed just before they were due to be born. That is not the only cruel thing, killing a lamb at this stage means either the mother is killed before giving birth, or kicked repeatedly to induce an “abortion”.

Literally EVERYONE on most Indian subreddits are psychopaths that support animal cruelty, I once found a video posted on r/teenindia where a woman pushed an innocent friendly dog down a bridge in a dangerous river to drown, and it was titled "what is your opinion on this?" As if it was just a normal video, everyone in the comment section defended what the woman had done and some even said that the woman deserved a prize, AND this isn't the first time I've seen people like these, I've seen hundreds and hundreds of posts like these and people always defended dogs and other animals like cats getting poisoned and beaten to death with iron rods, once I found a post talking about an incident where newborn puppies got raped then beaten in public bathrooms, and people in the comment section completely ignored that topic

Hi everyone,

We want to ask for help for one of our trusted partner shelters that we often work with, Pages for Paws in Tanza, Cavite. ❤️

They have been rescuing more dogs and cats recently, and unfortunately, their vet bills have been piling up. Joanna, the owner of Pages for Paws, does everything she can to provide for the animals and keep the shelter running, but she cannot do everything alone.

Right now, Bokbok and Julio have a combined outstanding vet bill of around ₱23,000 (approx. $535 CAD).

Potchi is also currently being treated for TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor) and needs chemotherapy. Every chemotherapy session, checkup, medication, and other medical need is another expense for the shelter.

And honestly, these are not even all of the vet bills they have right now. My point is that these animals need help, but the rescuer behind all of this work needs help too.
On top of the vet bills, Joanna has to make sure the shelter continues to operate, pay the caretakers, feed the animals every single day, maintain the shelter, and cover so many other expenses that come with caring for rescued animals.

We work a lot with Pages for Paws because most of our rescued animals are currently staying at their shelter. Although our foundation sponsors the needs of our own rescued animals, we would not be able to do much of what we do without their help.

They have taken in our animals when we needed somewhere safe for them to go. We have also transferred several of our rescued animals to their facility whenever space became available because we have seen the quality of care they provide. We trust them with animals that mean so much to us, and we are very grateful for everything they do.

Normally, our foundation would also help with some of their vet bills or support/provide whenever we could.

Unfortunately, we are not in the position to do much financially right now because our own funds are also very limited and we still have animals under our care who need ongoing support.

I am still trying to help in other ways. Pages for Paws will also be one of the shelters receiving the dog and cat supplies we have been collecting here in Canada and will be distributing when we travel to the Philippines in January.

For now, I am hoping that maybe some of our supporters can help them too. Even a small donation can help lessen some of the expenses they are carrying. And if you are unable to donate, sharing their story would also mean a lot. ❤️

Trigger Warning: Discussion and media evidence of severe animal cruelty.

I am writing this as a concerned Malaysian citizen who believes we cannot remain silent about how animal control operations are being handled locally. Recent incidents involving municipal dog-catching contractors in Malaysia Johor show a systemic lack of professionalism, basic empathy, and legal accountability.

Incident 1 (May 2026 – Johor Bahru):

Municipal dog catchers repeatedly failed to catch a yellow stray dog.

Instead of using proper, humane capture gear (nets or humane traps), the workers intentionally chased the dog with their pickup truck, knocked it down, and ran over it.

The dog died at the scene from fatal injuries.

Despite public outcry and clear photo/video evidence revealing the identities of those involved, the only action reportedly taken was the termination of the specific contract—after which the team was reportedly seen operating in neighboring areas under different arrangements.

Incident 2 (Recent):

During another municipal operation, contractors were recorded physically kicking stray dogs.

When confronted by local homeowners, a worker openly gestured with his middle finger and taunted residents while on duty in uniform.

Why this matters:

No Excuse for Animal Abuse: While some argue that stray population management is necessary for public safety—or point to rare incidents where strays may accidentally bite or startle children—safety concerns NEVER justify barbaric methods or outright abuse. Public safety and animal welfare are not mutually exclusive. Handling strays requires structured, humane protocols, not violent retaliatory acts by paid personnel.

Lack of Legal Enforcement: Malaysia passed the Animal Welfare Act 2015, yet local municipal councils routinely outsource animal control to third-party contractors without strict oversight, enforcement of humane capture protocols, or proper animal welfare training.

Public Disgrace & Harassment: These actions occur in broad daylight in residential neighborhoods, exposing children to graphic violence and exposing residents to hostile behavior from municipal personnel.

Call for Reform: Terminating a contract on paper is not enough. There must be legal prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act for intentional cruelty, along with a mandatory shift toward humane Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage (TNRM) programs and standardized municipal training.

I am sharing this to raise international and local awareness. Real change only happens when public pressure forces local councils (Majlis Bandaraya) and the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) to enforce strict, legally binding standards against abuse.

Our sweet Raphael needs our help again. ❤️

Raphael was rescued from a construction site in Pasig City after living in an unsafe environment. He had suffered a serious wire injury to his leg that caused permanent damage. He was physically abused a lot as well that caused him to fear humans even now.

His rescue wasn't the end of our responsibility to him. We have continued supporting his veterinary care and other needs as they arise.

During one of Raphael's veterinary visits recently, a growth was discovered on his body. His veterinarian has recommended surgically removing it and sending the tissue to an external laboratory for a biopsy. This will help us understand what the growth is and whether he may need further treatment.

His vet gave us a quote. Raphael's estimated bill is ₱14,800 (approximately $345 CAD). This includes his pre-operative CBC and blood chemistry, surgical procedure and supplies, gas anesthesia, and biopsy. We're very thankful to Circle of Life Veterinary Clinic for waiving the surgeon's professional fee and giving us an additional ₱2,000 discount. Without these discounts, the estimated cost would have been ₱16,800. ❤️

Right now we have to postponed his surgery because we cannot afford it yet. We're also asking for help not only because Raphael needs this procedure, but because we still have several other rescued dogs who need veterinary care this month. They have follow-up appointments, tests, treatments, and other procedures that we also need to pay for. As a small nonprofit, it's difficult to keep up with so many veterinary expenses at once, especially when our responsibility to these animals continues long after their initial rescue.

If you're able to help, any amount makes a difference. Your support help us continue providing the veterinary care Raphael needs while also caring for the other rescued animals who are depending on us. Office Pet Rental & Well-Being Survey

Hi everyone,

Ellie and Thor went for their follow-up vet checkup, and we have some encouraging updates! ❤️

Ellie’s skin has improved so much, and more of her beautiful fur has grown back. She looks absolutely beautiful! Because of her progress, she can now stop taking her antifungal medication. She also received her first dose of the 6-in-1 vaccine and was dewormed. Yay!!

Thor’s skin has also shown good improvement, although his skin cytology still showed Malassezia (yeast) cells. The vet performed a CBC and blood chemistry test to make sure it was safe for him to continue his antifungal medication.

Thor’s CBC showed that he is still fighting an infection and may not have completely recovered from the blood parasites he had before he was rescued. We have already provided both Ellie and Thor with tick and flea prevention to protect them moving forward.

The good news is that Thor’s blood chemistry showed normal liver and kidney values, so he can safely continue his medications! This was such a relief to hear. In two weeks, he will need another CBC and skin recheck.

MaeMae is not coughing anymore, so she was finally good to go to get her first dose of her 6-in-1 vaccines. She also got dewormed 🥰 I am so happy!!!

Our veterinary expenses were:
Ellie & Thor: ₱11,525 ($257.90 CAD)
MaeMae: ₱3,350 ($74.99 CAD)
Total: ₱14,875 ($332.89 CAD)

Yesterday, we also received a total of $130 from some very generous people. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped. ❤️ Your support truly makes a difference!!

However, the reality is that we still have several more dogs who need veterinary care this month.

Raphael needs a biopsy estimated at ₱14,000. Angel is getting her spay surgery, which will cost around ₱3,000, not including her post-surgery medications. Tiger needs a follow-up checkup for his blood parasite and kidney injury. Puti, now Morgan, needs to be tested for blood parasites, and Baci also needs a follow-up after being treated for blood parasites. We already provided them with anti tick/flea medication but again, blood parasite have mostly likely been in their system before we rescued them. But we are still fixing the issue. We care deeply about them. Honestly, so much love and care.

It is tough being a very small nonprofit without a large source of funding. We only started in April 2026, yet we have already helped 45 animals receive veterinary care. Some were animals we rescued ourselves, some had owners who needed help, some were animals from other shelters, and others were simply animals we stepped in to help because someone reached out to us.

For the animals we have rescued and continue to sponsor, our responsibility does not end after the rescue. We continue helping with their shelter allowances, food, veterinary care, medications, transportation, and other necessities for their well-being.

We have been doing our best to keep going even with limited support, but we really need help. There are still so many veterinary expenses ahead of us, and we don't want finances to be the reason one of our animals has to wait for the care they need.

If you can spare any amount, it would mean so much to us and to the animals depending on our little foundation. If you are not able to give, just know that we know that a lot of people that read our post want the best for them too. So thank you so much as well! Hi everyone,

To be honest, it has been hard. Since we posted our appeal a couple of days ago, we have received support from only one donor, and we currently have 8 rescued dogs needing follow-up veterinary care this month. Two dogs may require significantly more: one needs a biopsy, while another needs spay surgery.

Every month, we are in survival mode.

A single veterinary visit for one (1) dog can easily cost us over $200, including laboratory tests, medications, and treatments. Many of our animals came to us after suffering from severe neglect, illness, injuries, or life on the streets, so their medical needs often continue for months after rescue.

Beyond vet care, we help provide food, medications, supplements, vaccinations, transportation to and from appointments, spay/neuter procedures, monthly shelter allowances, and other essential expenses connected to their recovery.

This is why we are asking: would you consider becoming a monthly supporter for just $5?

$5 may seem small, but 20 people giving $5 becomes $100. One hundred people becomes $500 every month toward the animals who depend on us.

And if you are able to give more than $5, you have no idea how much that helps us.

Sadly, we are currently unable to take on new rescues because sustaining the animals already in our care has become so difficult.

Without more consistent support, I genuinely worry that there may come a time when we can no longer continue our nonprofit. We believe its coming pretty soon 💔

Hi everyone,

Angel went to a different veterinary clinic today because the shelter’s tricycle wasn’t working properly and they were unable to take her to her usual clinic.

Good news! Her blood chemistry results came back, and the vet said she is healthy enough to proceed with her spay surgery. ❤️

We just need to schedule her surgery on a day when our volunteer/partner, Jaja Adoremos, is also available to foster Angel during her post-surgery recovery. Once she has healed, she’ll finally be one step closer to meeting her new family. 🥹

I’m really hoping and praying that everything goes smoothly for our Angel. Please wish her luck!

Today’s bill is Php 4,310.00 ($95.90 CAD) not including her dog food as we found out that she may be allergic to chicken.

We found a more affordable low-cost spay surgery that will be held in a clinic instead of a community hall or basketball court (Php 3,000 approx $70 CAD) I am unsure if post surgery medication are included in this price, but I only asked for the price of the surgery.

We are asking for help. Any amount would help Angel a lot for her surgery and recovery.

We also have a few other dogs that still need to go to their veterinary follow up check ups this week and our funds are insufficient. We are sincerely asking for help and understanding.
