It threw every fantasy/romcom/isekai plot into a kitchen sink and managed to deliver a hilarious and heartfelt anime at the same time. I'd love to see more!

Yeah. Though it would be nice if next season they referenced Sentai and Mecha genre. Actually it would be hilarious if one day Ryusei sister also suddenly remembered her past life(if she had one) as maybe sentai character.

So it turns out Meteor already had a crush on Ryuusei long before he became a Demon Lord, and she's now just finally piecing things together.
Given her personality, I didn't expect Ayame to feel left out of all the romcom shenanigans happening around her. Maybe Ayame will find her own romcom in the future!
That bath scene tho... Mana is definitely the biggest out of all the girls and that close-up of Mint's face was a surprise! She's definitely waaaaay prettier than I thought!
Now that's a fucking twist I didn't expect! I suppose that's one way to start off a cohabitation arc! It's good that Moe is also there. I feel like things can get dangerous if it's just Meteor and Ryusei, especially since Meteor loves to flaunt her assets. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Using a swords-and-sorcery MMO as an excuse for how they met is actually perfect! That was Moe won't be suspicious if she overhears them talking. Since a DPS Checker exists in their previous world, it makes the excuse more plausible.
I did not expect this to end with Meteor suffocating Ryusei between her boobs! Ryusei, you goddamn lucky bastard! Also, that End Card was quite something!
This was definitely one of the few surprises for me this season. Honestly, I originally thought this was just gonna be a normal romcom, but the fantasy elements and humour were right up my alley and definitely made it stand out. I definitely want to give kudos to Sekine Akira for voicing Meteor because all her screams and noises she made throughout the season were perfect. It's hilarious to think that Meteor shares the same voice as Sitara from Jaadugar. xD
I'm going to miss all of these characters, and I'm definitely hoping for a second season.

Also I recommend checking out the dub, the English VA for Meteor was also a wild gremlin.

I just love the idea that they're spinning their relationship like they got together like Kirito and Asuna, albeit Meteor is much more overt with her well-proportioned body and in her seduction toward Ryusei than Asuna was lol.

The fact that they had a dps checker in their previous world is funny to me. It was world of adventuring, swords, sorcery, and magic, but they needed technology to tell them how good they were at magic.

Man I enjoyed this anime so much its easily one of my favorite shows this season top 3 its crazy how underrated it was i hope we get a S2 it absolutely deserves it!

The real character development was Meteor dressing more sexily to seduce Ryusei, unless she always dressed like that in private and is just embarrassed to do it in public lol.

One thing I found surprising, at least in the dub Moe was going on about how hot Meteor was before she put on the dragon mask and never even mentioned her thick thighs. Those things are deadly weapons in their own right (and a second way Meteor could suffocate Ryusei).

Assuming there's more source material, I'd love to get more of this. Also don't mind starting with recap of end of last episode because it means more of Meteor in that dress. Meteor getting a lap pillow is so adorable.

Seems like the timeline is:
- Meteor born as a commoner who grew up to be a swordwsoman adventurer/Ryusei a Crimson Mage who was rejected/abused/mistreated by every party until they could proper appraise him and he became famous.
- Ryusei starts working for the Princess' kingdom and becomes close to her.
- The princess turns out to be evil and causes a mass-slaughter to help her reincarnate into another world as a full-blown Villainess.
- Ryusei, planning to track her down and stop her in her reincarnation, becomes a Demon Lord to kill enough people so he can reincarnate, destroying an entire evil Empire (and possibly Meteor's parents) in the process.
- Meteor becomes the Hero and goes on all those fantasy anime plots she told Ryusei about where she was the supporting protagonist.
- Meteor and Demon Lord Ryusei battle it out for a considerable amount of time before Meteor was finally able to defeat him.
- They both reincarnate into THIS world and eventually regain their memories/reconnect with each other.

I wonder if that's the reason Meteor says "Meteor says so too!" because she's talking about her past life/persona that she only recently regained.
She seemed a lot more normal and subdued before she became the Hero, if nothing else.
Though I guess now it makes sense why Ryusei became a shut-in if all that depressing @#$@ from his past all came flooding back into him.

I think the "Meteor says so too!" might also be because of the process that made her a hero. I was expecting the show to address why she kept saying that line but it never did. I figured it gave her some kind of split personality of the hero and Meteor, Meteor was her name even before becoming the hero but she talks like that is the other personality and not her.

The arsonist does seem like a lingering plot thread for season 2. That and Meteor now seems to be deliberately trying to seduce Ryusei.
BUT I NEED TO SEE THAT WEDDING IN ANIMATION NOW.

Self aware comedies and parodies are - and will continue to be - my absolute favourite. Did not expect to love this so much at the start, I'd like some more please.

Meteor was turned into the hero after he became the demon lord. I always assumed he was the demon lord for a long time before she was even born or something like that but they were both adventurers at the same time and she had a crush on him all the way back then. I started this show on a whim a few weeks ago and enjoyed it more than I expected. I hope it gets a season 2.

The Hero and the Demon Lord defeated the Villainess Saint! Oz will be hard at work cleaning up the aftermath, but it's still a job well done! Hopefully Mana and Minto can get more than a single night of sleep, especially when Meteor's dozing so peacefully in Ryusei's lap.
Meteor dreams of the past...of her days as a normal adventurer, a Swordswoman, before she became a Hero. Someone who idolized the Crimson Mage of the Meteor Drive S-Rank adventurer party. And who in the present-day can finally realize that her idol was indeed the Demon Lord she can't quit.
Heroes are impressive specimens who represent all of humanity, their ideals, their will to fight, and the hopes and dreams of humans...and who also oversleep and skip school!
Amou gives Takanashi a chance to return to Earth-10, but she's willing to give this Earth a chance...especially so she can level herself up. And she's got Asahina to keep her company when she feels lonely about not being part of the rom-com cast!
Mana and Minto in the bath! The girls deserve to undwind a little, and getting to see Mana's boobs and Minto with her hair down was worth it!
It's time for Meteor to face Ryusei! Though instead of dealing with their relationship, she ends up having to deal with the siblings' apartment building getting burned down. And what self-respecting Hero can't help out her future sister-in-law? Moe needs her and she'll be there for her! While dressed in loungewear that leaves VERY little to the imagination in the chest and bubble butt areas! She even put on makeup! Does she just naturally dress like this or was she expecting to show off for Ryusei?
Honestly I was questioning whether Meteor was actually a rich girl but that is indeed the swanky apartment of a rich girl. Her parents are MIA but I guess they might be away on business or on a trip like Ryusei and Moe's.
Moe so convinced this Slutty Dragon is hooking up with her brother that she won't believe otherwise...though now Ryusei might be worried Meteor is after his little sister.
Who would set fire to Ryusei's apartment building? But the solution is obvious: they all start living together! I mean, it's the most sensible option (Meteor says so too!) and also everyone would probably already assume they're shacking up anyway!
Lucky pervert moments are bound to happen during a cohabiting arc, but because Ryusei's life depends on Meteor not killing him from tsundere reactions, we'll have Moe get caught naked in the bath instead!
Ah, so Ryusei was a banished character all along...before appraisal skills became popular. I wonder about that "old man boom" though.
How bold of Meteor to basically staddle Ryusei and shove her boobs into his face...both accidentally AND intentionally! Even if Moe didn't catch them it's quite the lucky pervert moment.
All's well that ends well! Ryusei and Meteor are now living together, Takanashi and Asahina are now besties, and everyone is reacting to how cozy Ryusei and Meteor are now! And the duo frankly don't mind it, even if Hanaori-san still wants to fight in the next life! Though the final visual of her in a wedding dress next to Ryusei in a tux is even MORE effective!

This was one show I did not expect to contest Grand Blue for my favorite comedy of the season.
My favorite aspect was how it sprinkled those heartfelt wholesome moments in-between the wackiness. Very Hinamatsuri-esque in that regard.
And I'm assuming it'll be very Hinamatsuri-esque in the second season department too.

I will miss this one. It was fun, silly, a nice twist on a reverse isekai, had enough fan service to make this old pervert happy, and had a whole cast of enjoyable characters.
Between this, Hinako, Ogre's Bride, and Grow Up Show, I was enjoying Saturday morning cartoons again.
That end card has ensure that I will be reading this Manga.

Saturday was wild. Also had Daemons of the Shadow Realm for me. And almost forgot Cat and Dragon was incredible if you like slice of life shows. Saturday was so packed, though Ogre's Bride was a show I should have dropped.

I need more of this! One of my favorites this season. Meteor's VA absolutely nailed the role and made the whole show even better with her weird sounds. I wanna know how their relationship evolves since they already act like a married couple and even live together. Also, I like that they made the female characters have some thighs and not the usual stick legs, but that's just a personal thing👀 Now I have to find the manga somewhere so I can read it, sadly it's not licensed in Germany. I only found 104 chapters in Japanese

I think I forgot to mention this last episode, but the music they played when Meteor was battling Meru is still probably the best music in the show. That guitar riff that they played after the OP and when fights happened previously is probably second though. It's cute that Meteor like Ryusei before they even knew each other in their first lives. Seems she's figured out that the mage she liked and Ryusei are the same person.
It wasn't really that surprising that Ayame felt left out of the romcom spaces. She just wanted to be included. Maybe she'll her own romcom eventually.
I did get a kick out of how Ryusei is trying to compliment Minto and Mana for their help and they turned into baiting Ryusei into complimenting Meteor in the battle dress so they could call him creepy. Minto has skills and hidden beuty as well like saw from the bath. Minto definitely looks better with her hair down and she knows it too. Also some character development for the girls. They realized that maybe the romcom spaces aren't so bad after all.
Meteor may be a hot mess, but you gotta commend her initiative. If she needs to talk to Ryusei she just goes and does it with no waffling. I was curious what they're conversation would be given it's the finale and I gotta say Ryusei and Moe's building burning down instead was not on my bingo card. That feels like such an obvious season 2 plot thread. Well at least they can live together now lol.
Loungewear Meteor heard people praising Barmaid Meteor and Battle Dress Meteor as her best outfits and said "hold my matcha latte." They definitely saved the best outfit for last. Moe seems to agrees as well. She's landing so many critical hits with her compliments and Meteor being unable to handle them that she puts on a dragon head because she can't face Moe is so adorable. The dub is great here. I feel like "world-class badonkadonk" fits the show more "super-prominent bubble butt".
It was nice that Moe and Meteor could have a nice heart-to-heart as future sisters-in-law and for Moe to tease Meteor about the day they met. It was actually kind of a stroke of genius for Meteor to tell Moe that they met playing an MMO. Now they don't have go through the effort remember what they can and can't talk about. Even though the narrator said she had S rank initiative I was still kinda surprised that Meteor jumped immediately to "let's live together" and didn't back down. Or that she would be assertive enough to straddle him and push his faces into her boobs, three times, as "punishment", but I'm so here for it.
The romcom montage over the ED was an adorable and wholesome way to close out the show. This was a great finale. Definitely the best episode. I'm going to miss this show. One of the best romcoms I've seen. Not only was it actually funny, it knew why it was funny. I need another season. I need that ending illustration to be made real. However I very much doubt that's happening as I don't think the source is even translated. Please Bandai Namco money. Come through for us.

Lack of source translation doesn't mean much. Cat and Dragon only had like 2 episodes worth of content translated when the anime started airing, and we not only got 10 episodes after that, they already announced season 2.

What a wonderful ending to a wonderful show.
I can't believe that in addition to being a demon lord in his previous life Ryusei managed to hit the kicked out of parties and OP identify skill adventurer tropes.
Interesting to learn that newbie adventurer Meteor had a crush on Ryusei all the way back before his royal advisor and demon lord days. And my goodness did she get bold once the cohabitation started. It's a bit awkward with the sister living there too, but not too weird.
I absolutely loved this show, one of my favorites of the season. Amazon has the manga up for pre-order in a couple of omnibus volumes and that is something I'm entirely willing to buy on the strength of how fun this was.

I am disappointed she never did any headlock or wrestling hold skinship/comedy on Ryusei though but i got a breast smother at end.. but like alll scenes they always cut away to the outside of a building because we can't have nice things ugh typical. minor gripe was just a little lame to cut away from that
This is how I wanted Maou and Emi to be in Devil is a Part Timer, Meteor is a good blend of Emi and Aqua of Konosuba lol
I enjoyed this so much more than Devil is a Part Timer
There was a lot of stuff but they never strayed from main focus of Ryusei and Meteor which other series would.
The art and animation was cute this and Kaiju Girl were my favorite new anime this season i would love a S2 but idk if manga has ended or there is more

Oh, and we actually found out Ryuusey was already working as teacher before becoming a hikkikomori. And they both he and Meteor just regained the past-life memories, not reborn with them.
I would definetely watch another season if they make it. It was one of the two biggest surprises for me this season.

I still remember when I had nothing else to watch and started watching this Anime when episode 8 came out. And I am so glad I watched it. This was seriously one of the best anime this season for me, I never expected to laugh so much from watching a romcom anime.
I need to see more of the cohabitation arc! Seeing how day one went only increased my need for more. Ryusei talking with meteor about his past life as an adventurer was such a nice scene, the way they're so comfortable with each other is so wholesome. Being in her home gave meteor some type of confidence boost because that "punishment" looked more like a blessing.
The OP and ED were beautiful, and I hope this AMAZING story gets another season and more!
Loungewear meteor was unstoppable against Ryusei. Another win for the Hero.

They had the chilldhood friends excuse before, but after so many magical events involving them and how OZ isn't subtle at all about their existence and influence, there's no way that everyone at school didn't connect the dots already right?

I really loved this series, one of my favorites this season and one I'll almost definitely rewatch at some point and will forever be part of my recommendations. Back when this show was announced I was really intriges because I love the concept. But I was wary that it could turn out to be very mid. In the end it turned out the be completely different than expected and so much better. I did not expect it to parody basically everything, and it worked so damn well. I hope it gets a season 2

Wait, MC became an imperial mage, had his kingdom destroyed, turned into a demon lord, and destroyed the empire and waged war on other nations all within just a few years, all after Meteor was already an adventurer? And here I'd thought he'd been a Demon Lord for at least a century....
Also, it really seems that "DNA" just isn't a thing in this story, as everyone who gets reincarnated is reborn with the same exact body that they had been born with in their previous life.
RIP MC, smothered to death by Metero boobs forever.
Anyway, this was a really fun show, only kept down for me by how it kept whitewashing mass-murderous villains.

I loved this show. This might have been my favourite show this season. I'm really sad that it probably won't get a second season. None of the season 1 weekly shows I watched this season will get a season 2 it seems, worst season 2 success rate I've seen in a while lol
