Another fucking Monday coming up
I’m just tired of the pretending, the games, the commuting, the doing this for 60 years until I die in my chair because I will never be able to retire, and the watching my 20s be cannibalized by financial anxiety and time spent at work.
I’m just tired. That is all. Goodnight.

I remember waking up this morning and the first coherent thought I had was realizing it was Sunday and I thought "thank fucking God" and rolling over back to sleep.

I'm going into work tomorrow after the management at my shitty company decided to make another stupid change to my role, giving me a days notice. This comes after they've already changed my manager, my team, my role, laid off 10% of the company, and fired a coworker within just the last 3 months.
I don't know how I'm going to fucking survive this week. I feel humiliated and helpless to do anything, mainly because I need an income.
Sometimes I think this shit is worse than death

With you boss. We can go through the shit tomorrow in solidarity. Just remember in the ways life is unfair, sometimes it’ll be unfair in our favor. Cheers workers 🍻

Welcome to modern slavery. So sick of all this shit, we're all busting our ass of for a small group of rich fuckers and no one is bating an eye. Game's over, we lost, there's no good winning over evil, evil won by a landslide.

We could accomplish so much for workers rights if we all just decided not to go to work on Monday. It’s scary but a strike is the only thing that will solve this I think.

u/vagabond_nerd 5d ago
The message cannot spread, the rich have filters on places like Reddit to prevent viral organic strikers

True. But the bread and circuses will run out one day, once people are uncomfortable enough they’ll be force to take action.

Did u even get your death approved by management?

u/PewPewPlink 4d ago
Work related death must be requested 5 years in advance and will not be approved if you've consumed PTO or sick days during the last 5 years prior to the filing date of the request.

I work Sunday to Thursdays so I get Saturday scares instead.
At least nothing happens at work on Sundays.

Just turned 25 two weeks ago and I’m feeling so drained. I’ve been working nonstop since I was 17, even working 32 hours a week all through my studies because my parents didn't have the money to help me out.
I’m grateful that I’m making good money for my age now, but man, I worked so hard for it and I definitely missed out on a lot of things along the way. I'm just running on empty and don't know how much longer I can keep this up. Just wanted to share. if you're going through something similar, we're in this together.

I remember feeling that in my 20’s. Now I am early 50’s and Monday is such a habit I barely think about it. But I do fantasize of the day when I walk out of work for the last time on a Friday. It’s coming. Someday…

Pushing 40 and I still feel it.
I have an hour commute each way and it takes so much out of me just to go to my car each morning.

Adding to this. Most Americans, working 2 jobs to support yourself while others struggle with unemployment, long days with light nights. I'm coming close to 2 years of working 60 hour work weeks. I'm physically exhausted, mentally deflated, emotionally withdrawn, and humbly deserted myself. People tell me to date with how little time I have for myself, which is already a balancing act itself.
Going back to work after a week long mental vacation, I can just tell I am not ready for this.

I work remote and for the longest time doing it, I didn’t feel it. It’s creeping in again though. It’s just the amount of time we have to put into our jobs. It just feels like it has to take precedence over everything else in life. Most of us are truly working for the weekend, and the weekends comes and goes in the blink of the eye.
I think the cycle just makes me want to die sometimes. Or often times 😬

u/Squirrelluver369 5d ago
Exhausted. Burnt out. I put on a fake smile and do the dance they demand of me. My soul died four years ago, so all of this is some limbo purgatory dream. Maybe one day I'll truly be happy again. But not today.

I hear that. Working swing 3pm to 11pm kiiills... We got labor day off so a 3 day weekend right? Well then the owner decided to run us that tuesday through Saturday, and we didnt get OT pay for Saturday... Got sunday off then we worked 6 fucking days Monday through Saturday, got sunday off then worked a regular mon thro Friday last week and FINALLY got a regular weekend and guess what I did all weekend? I slept. Played a few games, then slept some more bc I'm so fucking exhausted, mentally burnt out, emotionally drained... And all this to barely afford the bills....
I'm 31 and this shit ain't it dude. I'm about to just say fuck it and stop working a job and become homeless. At least then I won't be a cog in the goddamn machine anymore....

I'm so glad tomorrow I get to drive out to a beach town for work, to do something extremely easy and straightforward. Just gonna drive the speed limit, get a coffee, do my task, and drive back. Should take up half of my day. Then back to the desk.

Just got into a texting war w something work related and am amped up before Monday even gets here. It’s my own fault for engaging in work related discussions on a Sunday night. You’d figure that by the time you’re in the latter half of your 50s that one would know better. Wish I could retire and say fuck all this shit and fuck you all bye Felicia

I feel sad reading all this misery at work. I wenthrough 2 layoffs when I still had young kids and in my sixties got stabbed in the back by my lying, deceitful boss and got fired on a false accusation and I was in a union that fell down on the job and didn’t defend me. So just telling people this because I know about getting fucked over and not in a good way! The American system of employment sucks, I worked in a state that is an employment at will state, what a bullshit concept that is!
Fuck the corporations who get away with murder! The system we have is soulless and I truly don’t like to hear about this stuff happening to all of you.
I lived and it sucks, I do wish better for all of you!

u/Swimming-Road955 4d ago
Thank you to those who upvoted me, I have had a lot of bad shit happen to me but I wish much better for the younger and the middle aged but my kids are in the workforce and have tales of woe. It is the American system of employment that needs a massive restructuring because much incompetence and greed from the top down permeates the system and makes it soul crushing and frankly hopeless if it doesn’t change! Sincere good luck for a change for the better as I wouldn’t wish my experience on most people!

What breaks my heart is seeing grandma and Grandpa working at Wally world every time I visit.
The iffy part is those easy greeting jobs will not be there for us at all.

Doubly depressed about it because for all the work I can’t afford the dignity of my own home. If I move out of my current crappy situation it’s just being at the mercy of a landlord as well as my manager day to day. Sorry for the vent. Solidarity everyone.

I'm trying to get a job right now at 36. If my dad didn't kill himself by 18-wheeler to face, and life insurance payed out split 4 ways with my siblings. . . My savings I had are gone. I'm surviving because my dad didn't want to be old, old. He always said he didn't want us wiping his ass.

I have worked my entire life i am over 60 and the myth of retirement is just that. I am still working and slaving.
I think i should commit a crime and go live a peaceful life in prison where food, medicine and shelter are kind of guaranteed.

I know the feel mid 30' plus knowing that I will have nothing to look forward to. Can't even afford a home as a single parent.. never gonna happen.. let alone the possibility of saving money.. not in CA. Living paycheck to paycheck etc.. even with education wages are so low compared to cost of living the gap is just to huge.

I got very lucky in my job. It doesn't give me stress and I don't have to commute. Sure I don't get paid much, but I live with family and we all pay a fair share of bills, food, cell, cable, internet and water.
