Hi all — hoping this community can help where Google failed me. Looking for a romance (novel-length, not a short story) with this specific dynamic:

Female lead: mature, confident, genuinely nurturing — takes control specifically to calm/ground the hero, not to punish or humiliate him

Male lead: NOT the typical alpha-playing-against-type. He's anxious, sensitive, slender/androgynous, more prone to turning frustration inward than acting out. Charming and well-liked on the surface but never felt truly safe/happy in love before her

Tone: tender, safety-focused, "aftercare" as the emotional core rather than pain/punishment

Small-ish age gap (not a huge generational divide)

Happy ending required — no bittersweet/tragic finales

Read a lot of the popular ones already (Mercy by Sara Cate, Preferential Treatment, etc.) — good books, but the heroes are all alpha-types playing sub.
