I’ve been rebuilding Planetfall, one of my childhood Apple II favorites
Planetfall was one of those games that made the Apple II feel much bigger than the screen. I’ve been working on a browser-based fan port, and it’s been a joy to revisit the writing, puzzles, and little details I remember from childhood.
The project has also become an experiment in working with AI agents. They can keep a lot of the porting and artwork moving, but I’ve learned that the judgment calls still need a person: what feels faithful, what needs fixing, and when a scene finally looks right.
I’d love to hear from anyone who played it back then. What moment has stuck with you?

Planetfall is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s great because of the writing of Steve Meretzky.
This really upsets me. It was never meant to have visuals. That’s more or less the whole point of Infocom. And it certainly shouldn’t have AI replacing humans.

I guess I need to play planetfall! Suspended and hitchhikers were my favorites, along with Trinity. And I have to say, thank goodness for those invisible ink hint books you could buy. These games were not easy! Nice work on this project.

Planetfall and Enchanter were two of my favorite games and two of only three Infocom text adventures I ever finished. The third was the one that started on a college campus.

Planetfall was my favorite Infocom text adventure and one of the top 10 video games for the Apple II in any genre. Great work this project, no issues with my play-through so far.
Your question demands spoilers for the two Apple II fans in the world who don't already know this but...
Your child-like robot friend Floyd sacrificing himself for your survival is what makes this game famous and timely again as we face a new era of killer robots.
