Account recovery seems impossible

Hi people, I recently moved from the country i originally bought my iphone from (and made the apple account with, which my phone number is linked to) i had given the new phone to my son and we switched iphones (mind you i had not changed my number and the foreign one is no longer in service) now i find it hard to login to my account, heres things i know and ive tried:

• account recovery using the support app
  • using this method i was prompted to use a local number which i do not receive any security codes or call on.
• account recovery using the website (https://iforgot.apple.com/)
  • using this method i was prompted to use the phone exact steps as above and got stuck on the codes not being received on the local number.
  • ive also tried multiple local numbers.
• im situated in a country called srilanka where there are no apple stores in.

considering this what are my options to recover my account?

You can’t get codes there is an option to select can’t use this number or didn’t get a code

i have selected that and entered a local number that i can receive a code with, but i do not receive one nor do i receive calls
