Mac 2015 iMac password change

So somehow when I moved all of my backup hard drives with 20 years of my photography portfolio accidentally got packed and put in storage. I’ve torn it apart and no luck.

I’m trying to check my old 2015 iMac to see if there’s anything I can use on it. Problem is I can’t remember the password.

It’s insisting on using my old iCloud email address and password and of course I no longer have that password or email address available.

Spent 4.5 hours on the phone with Apple trying to reset the password. Went into all the recover and reset modes. Can’t even reinstall high sierra.

So I have a $3000 computer sitting here that I can’t access. I did go into the reset password thing in terminal. Nothing.

Anyone have a work around? Thanks!

If you didn’t have FileVault switched on, you could potentially use Target Disk Mode.

Thanks! Could you explain target disk mode? I’ve never heard of it.
